I replied to one of your commentors below, but am reposting here in case so you can see it. About the lyric, "Your Brooklyn Broke my skin and bones" I thought it was Brooklyn Broke for a long time, (Which is a comment about his style, a person is said to be Manhattan rich, but dresses Brooklyn broke.) but have recently had a thought it might instead be a rephrase of "Sticks and stone may break my bones but words will never hurt me." Being from NY maybe he has a Brooklyn accent, or can speak in one, (For any non-Americans reading this, Brooklyn has a specific accent) and she's referring to when the relationship was good, he would use that accent in lighthearted moments. and so, when he would call her up again maybe he would use it to charm and sweet talk her into giving him one more chance. Which would make the argument scene in the short film suddenly make more sense how The Man used humor to cajole Her past her mad so things could be good between them again, instead of addressing the actual issue. and when they were hugging, you could see on Her face, she knew she was being manipulated but was willing to let the matter drop. This makes more sense to me because the lyric is "Your Brooklyn" as in your charm and charisma, "broke my skin and bones" as in hurt her more than sticks and stones could.

To me this song perfectly represents when men get with younger women because they are easy to manipulate and gaslight. After they're done w you they'll act like it never happened and that ur making a big deal out of nothing because it was a short relationship, but they love bombed you and made promises the whole time, it was just a game to them. And they play on misogynistic stereotypes of women being too emotional or clingy to get away w it. So her saying "I remember it all too well" and describing the specific moments, it's her validating that it was real despite him downplaying it. Then the "just between us, you remember it too" was a snarky way of publicly calling him out for the gaslighting.

His keychain said "fk the patriarchy". I love that line because it shows someone who tries to appear supportive of women but then they treat you the same as the bad guys do so you realize it was a manipulation tactic to make you feel safe.
