Newport to Cowes
A town to town cycle on the Isle of Wight as I headed back to the Red Jet Ferry after a project site visit with the route using part of the Red Squirrel Trail. The tarmac sections of the shared-use path are about 2.4m wide which is on the tight side, but OK for the levels of use. There is a concrete section which is 2m wide and really too narrow as you worry about falling off the edge.
I rode at a leisurely pace which took about 25 minutes from leaving Newport if I excluded the various stops I made and I entered Cowes via the pedestrianised area rather than the posted cycle route as I wanted to stop there.
The video runs mainly at 4x speed.

Opened earlier in 2023, this project was an upgrade to an existing route which was for walking, but was also used by people cycling because it was more direct and safer than using local roads between the village of Jaywick and the edge of Clacton-on-Sea. The new 1km route extends NCN150 to Jaywick has a wonderful machine-laid surface and sports pv-solar/ wind powered lighting.

A far cry from my trip in 1975.
I used to enjoy living and working in Chiswick. The high road is a nightmare now. Travelling west the cars have to wait behind buses that stop in the middle of the road as the is only one lane each way for traffic.

Feels weird seeing Harrow Manorway with no Binsey Walk or Coralline Walk there anymore. Feels crazy seeing emptiness where Coralline Walk stood and construction on new bigger modern buildings where Binsey Walk stood.
Why not just cycle around the roundabout like normal? What's all the junk around the edge for? will just cause confusion and more collisions with zombie pedestrians
Steps in the right direction, although not quite dutch standards
It was nice to see the place where "Misfits" TV show was filmed. So hard to see the district was rebuilded but it has to be a normal course of life. Everything is changes. Thanks a lot dude!
