Catch you in 2024! CORRECTION ON THIS VIDEO: The Canon 5D has a CMOS Sensor, not a CCD sensor. YES...You Should Get a Fender for Your ONEWHEEL
Nice discovery. I still use mine on an almost daily basis. It's still great and I have no problem making large prints.
Great video! Appreciate your perspective.
The 5D was a great camera. Many of the greatest digital images in history were taken on a 5D. Great cameras don't stop being great cameras. That's all I wanted to say.
I got a 5D, pretty newish, also got a 24- 105 L , Color is just so good. I'm a throwback, I shot with G1 with Film. This camera is big but takes fine pics for an amateur:)
To be honest ..... I still use the 5 d for my shots ...... I like the old stuff .... And guess why ..... It needs skill . Like the skills that old photographers had .... With the newer generation of cameras and all this hype .....newer photographers seem "lazy" to me ..... I do also own 5d markiv 6d markii r5 and all the stuff . But that mirror and the sound when it slaps whenever you press the button it's just so satisfying.
Everybody is free to like what he wants, whatever good or not good it is.
I am pretty sure that most Canon shooters agree with me that each new generation of 5D was a great improvement. Idiotic to go back in time chasing ghosts when you can spoil your shots in P+P as you like.
I think this is still an awesome camera, so much I also did a review just a bit later then you :-) ruclips.net/video/67CS3cUXQiE/видео.html
They’re not easy to find. Is a mk3 as good as the mk1 or is it too modern? I want to learn from scratch and I want that dreamy color profile the mk1 has…
If you like the 5D classic, you might also like the Leica M9.
Kentmere 400 pushed to 1600 has been my latest go-to. But all the ones in your video are solid. Look forward to your thoughts on 50d. I had mixed feelings on the results/$$$ ratio.. but it did make some good photos.
Well done dude.
I'm really tempted to use my 5D classic for upcoming weddings. I would like to take photos with a different style than I would have when shooting with my A7iii, not paying attention to the technology, the burst of shots, the super precise autofocus and other things. Yes, it might be crazy to shoot with the 5D instead of the A7iii, but the feeling I have shooting with the Classic is beyond. Even the look is really different in the photos. Knowing that to shoot weddings with the Classic I would have to get another one as a backup, in your opinion is it recommended to shoot with the 5Dc nowadays for weddings?
It’s no surprise that new gear freaks are always samba-dancing with their equipment albeit, without proper idea whether they need it! Only photographers know what they are doing and thus, they are never bothered by the noisy promotions - they have no time to as they are busy creating images with whatever they possess. Few gear freaks are also devoid of the knowledge that, common image viewers are concerned about the images only no matter what equipment was used. They never ask this stupid question. It’s all that counts to real photographers.
The Nikon Z8 is the best ever I think. I've never touched one but the youtubers say I need one or else I suck.
The AF is actually phenomenal. It's just 9 focus points. When you keep that in mind it's awesome and not CCD. 1D classic is the only canon ccd. And it seems to be a unicorn.
How many times do you have to tell us your totally mirrorless now ...Yeah we get it mate ...
legend goes he's still holding the mic... Joking. Kind of. Why not just clip the mic? You spent all this time researching, setting up the shot, editing, scripting, etc. But yet you hold the mic as if you didn't have enough time to boom or clip the mic. Would have taken 2 min. I don't understand this YT trend... Great shots. Good video. Just kills me to see this mic in hand thing... let Danny Gervitz have his mic in hand moment.
Gear collectors follow the endless process of collecting gears while, photographers go on creating images. Doing both is physically impossible.
You should check out the Nikon d200. It’s got a ccd sensor. Also the Olympus e500 which has a Kodak ccd.
I purchased the 5D classic back in 2005 for about $1900. I eagerly waited, even lost sleep while my 5D was in the mail. When It finally arrived, I was not really impressed. Actually I was a litle dissapointed. The camera was feature-less. Just a box with a Full Frame sensor in it. It took great pictures at times and also allowed me to crop my pictures much tighter in PP. At other times the pictures were not any better than on my cropped sensor camera the Canon 30D. Actually, I prefered taking my 30D out, not only because it was faster, smaller and quieter, but because it was CHEAPER. I just didn't feel comfortable taking a $1900 camera out all the time, especially in the rain. The 5D made a funny "clunky" sound when you pressed the shutter and was really slow at only 3.3 frames per second. Meanwhile my 30D shot a 6 frames per second. I sold my 5D due to hard times and it wouldn't be until the 6D came out that I would shoot with a Full Frame camera again. Do i have any regrets ? NOPE . My 6D is a much smaller camera and takes the same great FF pictures, if not better, plus it's a lot quieter. This is not surprising since the 6D has 20 Mega pixels instead of 13 of the 5D. I do miss that 'eery' sort of film like look I use to get with the 5D sometimes, but I found that I can emulate that look with my 50D cropped camera .
For exposure, rely on histogram. Always.
i absolutely love the fact that this camera can only shoot pictures and not video. makes the whole camera alot simpler to use.
I have a single button for video, i don`t think it can get simpler than that. I can also choose not to push it, how about that.
It's not a CCD sensor. The 5D has a CMOS sensor
You want this camera to look like film . Shoot at 1/60sec . Aperture 2.8 . At iso800 + . The light will need to be low / think magic hours . But results are Special
I love my 5d classic with the 50mm 1.8 great combo. This is the best video about her, the truth, great sooc images! All you need really 👍
I didn't find the 50mm stm all that fascinating and doesn't do the 5d justice. Even the 40mm 2.8 is better.. I found the Sigma 50mm 1.4, does help the 5Dc shine.
Loved the video, thank you. The 5D classic, I acquired in 2023 also, was the third in the 5D series for me following on from the 5D II and 5D III. Absolutely love it and love what it represents as the formal beginning to the Canon digital full frame camera aimed at the hobbyist and professionals at the same time. I am glad it doesn't have the video function and fits better as a direct transition from analogue to digital. Can't believe the release will be 20 years old next year. As a side note, I also re-acquired the Canon 350D (same release year) for the collection and represents the first ever digital camera I owned.
Thanks for the recomdation. I HAVE AND LOVER
Nice video. A few years ago I picked up a 5D MK II. I wanted one since it was released in 2008. I did a little talk about it on my channel showing images I've done with it. I love the older 5D's. Love your video.
👍🏼
One thing I have to disagree with you on is: “your best camera is the one on you.” For me, the best camera is the camera that I enjoy shooting with. Canon 5D is definitely that camera. 😄
Great video Mark, I enjoyed it and agree with most that you say . . . . . . shutter loud but if you like it you will love the EOS 3, that bad boy comes with ear plugs . . . . 😄
Great Video thanks for sharing. I am going full circle. Started out with a 6D and then moved to all Fuji Gear and now I think I'm going to try out the 5D classic.
Stop complain about 5D classic regarding No video. Its a pure Photography camera. If you really want video get 5Dmk2 which has same Sensor and autofocus system but higher megapixel. 5DMK2 WAS the LAST AFTER that 5dmk3 and mk4 have different sensor. If you hack it you can get 4k record footage. Btw all four 5D cameras they has Excellent Quality Build Magnesium Alloy Better than these Shitties Cheapo mirrorless R6 and R5 Polycarbone plastic nowadays which suck...
I bought a 5D Classic about 3 years ago as my first full frame camera, didn't use it much and bought the R6 shortly after. This is the best video that I've watched on that camera. Makes me want to go out and start shooting with it again. And I agree.. .the shutter click, when you snap a photo, sounds awesome. Great video!
You should go shoot with it. I did a little video on the 5D MK II not too long ago. Those older 5D's are pretty cheap and great cameras. Even now.
They are very similar to the Portra film especially the Portra 400. I still shoot both film and digital. Yes they are different but very close. My 5D was purchased brand new and I was hooked on Canon before that purchase. I started with a Pentax ME Super as my first SLR back in the 70’s. I own Sony, Fujifilm, mirrorless, Rollieflex cameras , Canon film , Nikon film and Five Polaroids there is nothing that compares to my color science out of the Canon 5D. Thanks for your great review.
Yo! i have an ME Super and I love that film camera
Thanks for sharing, looks like a fun time. Just an FYI, Cinestill does recommend the 85B filter when using tungsten balanced film in daylight. I think it drops a stop of light so you’ll have to adjust your exposure. You can also push 800t to 3200 and even 6400 if you have to. Worth reading their info on the 800T
Sweet! I will definitely give that a shot. I still have one more roll left of 800T. We'll see what the future holds.
Figured out the mystery of why comments were turned off!
heyhey! As promised some nice words for you: loved the video and I think you would do great in front of the camera shooting film
hey! just found your channel through your video January Film Stocks: Kodak Gold, Phoenix 200 and More. why did you turn off the comments? I wanted to leave some nice encouraging words for you.
Shoot! Again? I have no idea why it did that. One sec!
Just fixed it!
We had the 5Dii, then got the 5Diii when it was released, and never upgraded again on DSLRs…absolute workhorse for video and stills. Robust and quick. We moved to other video cinema cams, but still make many stills with it. A good used one now is a very smart buy.
I did a little video recently about the 5D II... it's in the same category. Love those cameras.
Had the 5d2, sweet spot in sensor size and great ergonomics
Good video. I've got 12 years with mine (I now own three). In order to spice things up some, I recently added a Sigma Art 50mm f1.4 DG to my Canon 5D arsenal. Good and sharp--better than the nifty 50 from Canon, though I love that lens too. Next I have a Canon 40mm f2.8 pancake on order. It is white and should add a unique contrast to the front of the 5D Classic.
I thought JPEGs were not meant to ever be edited. But don't worry, I also used to shoot JPEGs on my 20D back in 2006 and edit them gently, but quickly turned to RAW, not because of the lack of tonal resolution an 8 bit JPEG offers, but because of DETAIL. Those old DIGIC processors just were not as powerful to extract quality fine details for JPEG shooting.
Enjoyed the video. I have an R6 and R5, however, I still prefer my 7D & 5D4, I still love my DSLR'S
I just made a video on it too. Pretty crazy what you can buy for chips!
Great video
If you like shutter sounds, go for the Kiev60 medium format
Aside from the fact that I've got a soft spot for the 5D Classic, I really liked this video. I like you're down to earth persona. You seem very genuine. Definitely digging the vibe.
@SkylerKing I was thinking the same thing as I watched this video. Good point.
Loved it! Thank you for sharing! I'm agree with you. Looking forward to your next video.
No photographer worth their salt would ever judge their exposure via the LCD, that isn't what it's for and never was.
Yep. Thats why God created the histogram! Kids these days dont even know what one is much less how to read it 😃
It is the trend of our time to leave the requirements for the implementation of quality to technology. For this reason, the state of modern digital photography results in technically flawless but meaningless photographs from artificial intelligence.
💯
