can you add weights "seperately"? Kinda like sliding on plates on a traditional bar? or for using both bars with a set of weight concurrently?
Would you recommend?
I saw a set for $450 is this a good deal?
Hello Sr, great video, thanks, but i have a question, when you select on each side 80 pounds, is 80 pounds on each side or 40 pounds on each side that sum 80? thanks
@@MKDLMR Thanks for answer me, do you think taking the 120 upgrade could be good for benchpress, or it is too low?
Is it good for dead lifts? I’d think you can’t drop the bar or plates.
how do you like it after all this time?
Which floor mats do you use? Do they hold up? Just purchased this bowflex, great video!
When I turn the thing to add different weights it never goes out far enough to get on more than 2 plates and it’s very annoying. Idk what to do
Whats the max weights for these. And if u can add more weights
Garage gym reviews just did a review on this. I think it's nice but for the price I would rather have a Olympic barbell and plates
Yeah, but curls with an Olympic bar isn't always convenient for the home gym owner.
Any chance you could give me the exact measurement of the straight bar? Not the overall length but the actual bar itself between the adjustment knobs? I’m trying to determine if this would fit on a squat rack. Thank you in advance.
Appreciate the response and tip. I’m looking at something with rubber. Given the width is 40”, I won’t be able to use a half rack and will need to go to a squat rack that has an adjustable width to accommodate. Thanks again!
I have the adjustable dumbbells and the adjustable kettlebells and I'm thinking about buying this but already spent so much money. I think the adjustable dumbbells should be enough for me but again I'm not sure. I also have a treadmill and a rowing machine. This cost so much money.
Thanks. Saw review. Useful to see in use.
Thank you for posting this.
my apologies if this is a dumb question but is it possible to fit a low bench close enough to do bench press with this setup? I can't bench heavy so 120 is perfect.
@Mark McAllister thanks for the reply. I ordered this as it was on sale at Walmart for 359.
This was helpful. Thanks for posting this.
Do you think its worth it being that it only can max out at 120lbs? For bench pressing it would be useless right? I can bench more than 120 which is why I ask.
Hey, are all of the plates the same size and weight? Like can they go in any particular order or does each one go into a specific slot? Are the upgrade plates any different than the ones it comes with? Thanks!
@@MKDLMR thanks for the response. Someone is selling one of these cheap cuz a few of the plates are damaged. So I was curious if I bought the upgrade set if I could use those to replace the damaged ones
I drive truck over the road and I purchased the select tech 552 dumbbells in January and didn’t get them until June!. But they’re really nice I like them it’s a great way to exercise in the truck in between runs. Thanks for the video I may be adding to these for my home gym
That’s cool, finding a way to workout no matter what. Do you lift outside or in the sleeper?
@@SuckRats usually inside the sleeper. I'm able to do most upper body workouts.
@@Bcharns that’s cool man! Drive safe.
Do the plates ever fall off?
@@MKDLMR Thanks for the reply friend, I'm looking into buying something like this.
Nice review and nice squat brah!
awesome! thanks for the review! straight and to the point!
This is really cool, I heard this product had a breaking problem. Have u had any problems with it, and does it come with a warranty. Also, I had a select tech 552. But I do workouts that use barbells a lot would u still recommend product.
@@MKDLMR I just put mine together earlier I had to take a break I was getting aggravated at the end I couldn’t get the barbell to snap onto the weights properly I kept adjusting but no luck
I can’t justify the cost and it’s an eyesore. They should’ve modeled it exactly like the dumbbell system. Be nice if they just came out with a barbell that was adaptable to their dumbbells.
Are the plates the same weight or do they go up in increments? If in increments do they go up by 5lbs are how much
@@MKDLMR thanks
I hear people complain about it not sliding right in, what's the big deal of Givin it a little push. People complain about everything.
@@MKDLMR just got mine still not able to align properly 🤯😡 will try again tomorrow 🙏
Just picked this up, gonna put it together now.
How did you get the barbell on the plates?
After it’s all put together and the plates are in their trays... Will the barbell just easily slide into the plates..? I’m looking at the plates and I’m noticing the 3 tabs/slots on some and it may have to do with the extra plates that I bought through Bowflex. I guess I’m asking is it easy to just slide those ends of the barbell onto the plates?
Ahh.. ok that makes sense. Thank you 🙏🏼
Great video. Does the base have to be changed with the addition of the extra plates or does it fit on the stand without adjusting where the plates sit?
All you need to purchase is just the additional plates then? No need for another base? I just ordered them from bowflex and found the plates on Amazon since bowflex is sold out so I’m trying to figure out if I can just order the plates without worrying about missing anything.
Thanks @MKDLMR for giving your opinion on the ST2080 system and additional plates, I just ordered mine today. I was getting worked up about the whole "recall issue" (single reported instance of property damage from plates sliding off the end). Seeing your footage makes me think it was some user error or assembly error and that it's still a good, albeit expensive, system for a home gym.
I’ve had no issues
Man your bar slides right into place, I feel like I have to shove mine in to hold. What am I doing wrong ?
@@MKDLMR thank you for your reply! So it took a little fenegling but one side I’d all the way forward and the other is about half, snd I just screwed them both into their positions.
How do they lock with the dial
Are you getting the screen
@@MKDLMR oh it's a media rack, i guess it was an ipad
hey thanks for the video! could you please provide us with the shaft length? the length between the adjustments. thanks. I reached out to bowflex, and they could not provide me with those dimensions.
Is it 120 per side or 120 for total weight? How much does the bar weigh?
Can’t get mind to work.. always has an extra plate on the left side when dialed correctly
Thanks for taking the time to film. Any regrets so far with the gear?
@@MKDLMR would you purchase it again?
I have a dumb question. When you set the weight for say 100, is the total weight 100 or 200? (100 each side)
Would you recommend getting the stand for the 2080?
Wow thank you so much 😊 it really dose help to see the products being used.
Thank you for the review !! It really helps. I have a question I am thinking of getting this for my husband so much total weight if you upgrade is 240lbs ?
@@MKDLMR thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question. Have a good one.
I have the Bowflex 1080 SelectTech Dumbbells. I upgraded from the 1052's which I had for many years (gave them a good home to a relative starting out. They still function perfectly.) I Love them...I would step over anyone's Grandmother to save them in a fire...LOL Have you used them? Also, since I can go up to 180lbs (90lbs per hand) do you think the Barbell is a necessity or just more of the same?
Do you like them though? Every Bowflex product i own i love one of them is the 552’s i was thinking about getting the barbell but want to hear some feedback.
Based on the shape of the weights, is there a wobble effect when doing curls?
Thanks for the review. I think I may get it based on the speed and convenience. I work alot of rotating shifts and speed is important for me to get a nice 45 min to 1 hour workout. I have free weights but takes too much time switching out plates. I already have the dumbells with stand and they are awesome
I have the same equipment. I received the unit a few weeks ago. I have issues that mimic yours, but all in all, I'm happy with my purchase.
nice video. does the height on the rack adjust at all? easy to add the 120lb add on?
@@MKDLMR i have issues racking, once its set no issues adjusting the weight tho. looks like ill be getting the upgrade kit. again, good video.
@@MKDLMR i seem to only have the issue when going off of the initial weight. i usually jus need to either pull the bar back up and adjust how im setting it down or push down a bit to make sure it locks. after i had 30 or 40 lbs to the bar, re-racking it goes smoothly.
This is nice I like it, but too expensive for the whole package.
Solid video, I was waiting to see more content posted about the 2080. Thanks for this and the review you posted earlier. I ordered mine in November, expected in Feb
Thank you very much, seems like it's quite a solid product, so appreciate you making the video, I don't know if it's because of corona, that people are having a hard time getting it or something, since there is barely any videos. Hope you have a happy new year :)
@@MKDLMR Hello again, I was wondering... have you had any issues with it since? like plates dropping off, getting stuck or any other issues? because I've read in articles & reviews alike, there there are many who are experience such issues.
@@MKDLMR I see, thanks for the update :) Unfortunately, there isn't really any other product like it, there is the MXselect version, but it only goes to 36 kgs, which is ok, but it has no expansions and it doesn't seem like there is coming an upgraded version, so not sure what alternatives there is. I definitely know I don't want weight-plates all over the place, that I'm done with in my home-gym.
