Try going to smaller villages next year. Many of them have not only firework, but bonfires in the evening. It is very lovely and often a social hotpot where young and old come together, drink and laugh and enjoy the night. If the weather plays along that is :) Edit: if you know a Swiss a bit, ask them for places and gatherings. Even thought Swiss are very reserved, they are most of the times very helpful and might even take you along

One issue with the job search is also caused by the education system here in Switzerland. Only about 1/3 of students go to university. The majority of Swiss go to vocational training after school. So the most available jobs, of course, look for people trained in these jobs. And yes, that includes jobs traditionally in other countries considered as "low entry" jobs such as waiters, construction workers, cashiers and so on. students from universities often have a bigger problem to get into these jobs because they are considered specialized. Not saying it is impossible, but in my company for example, when I need to hire someone I check what qualification/education I need and then pick from those who were educated in those fields, even if they are just graduating from their vocational training over someone who comes from university. Most university students get stuck with limited part time jobs and have it therefore a bit harder. But from my experience, students networks can help you. So make sure to get in touch with fellow students and ask them if they heard about job offerings suitable for you

To much people want to move to Switzerland, unfortunately is a very small nation, we should start thinking how to export the Swiss model around the world and adapt it to the locals cultures.

I was born in Switzerland and lived here all my life and I know how privileged I am for this. I love travelling but after not too long, I always look forward to going home. I grew up in Zug and moved on believing there is more out there and I am still on my journey to discover more outside of this beautiful district. Glad you're happy with your choice. I am happy I had the best education in Zug and live it somewhere else.

Petrol stations are open too on Sunday.

The small town I live in is a little south of Basel. I found a good job at a Swiss company and came to live in Switzerland over 38 years ago, not knowing how long I'd end up staying. I became a Swiss citizen, and a citizen of what became my new "home town", 12 years ago, which was relatively late in my life. I retained my original citizenship so I'm American and Swiss. It's very nice where I live, though the scenery is not as spectacularly beautiful as the places you show us in your video. I like to go on day trips to these kind of places sometimes, though I rarely do so because I like being at home so much. I have most of what I need either here or in Basel or in other nearby towns, and it's also nice that Germany is so close, because I like to go shopping there. Occasionally I also go shopping in St. Louis, a nearby French city. I've visited my home away from home, my original home, in the US, every year. I've had longer stays there since I retired. I feel quite attached to both places and to the people in my life who live there.

Friendly people? I've been here 17 years. I find them to be positively the nastiest, coldest, repressed, oppressed, suppressed, arrogant people in the world. Switzerland is a mini police state. It is also is one of the most beautiful countries which is why I stay......unfortunately the prices are double what they are everywhere else in the world.....happy you had a nice experience.
