I flew on a 767 in 91 from Birmingham to Orlando. At 8 years old I saw two things that kids will never see again: a working cockpit and a smoking section!
Nearly all our holiday flights were with Britannia in the 90s, and it was a dream come true when I ended up working with them as ground staff in the mid-90s too.
Im petrified of flying . I am 42, and have only ever flown to and from Malta and Majorca , malta in 1988 and and majorca in 1989 aged 7 and 8.Both times i flew with Britannia. The logos, the furnishing, the professionalism of the staff and everything ive seen in this video is burnt in my mind forever. I remember the cabin staff obviously realised how scared i was and allowed me into the cabin without my mum to put my mind at rest. That was the only time i have ever flown and been completely at ease. I remember the pilot saying "dont press any buttons" i said "i wont" the crew then all burst out laughing. I am now a plane nerd and know a lot of technical stuff about planes , mechanically and otherwise, despite currently not being of the belief planes are technologically advanced enough still to be safe to relaibly fly. Maybe in another 20 years. In the meantime, easyjet, ryanair and all those other budget operators need to take a leaf out of britannias book when it comes to customer service. Shame to hear there not about anymore and obviously wernt earning any money as this video shows.
Flew with Britannia Airways on many occasions in the late eighties and into the nineties on the Boeing 737-200, Boeing 737-300, Boeing 757-200, Boeing 767-200 & Boeing 767-300 I wish I'd seen Britannia Airways with the Boeing 777 Series that would have been a great aircraft to fly to Orlando Florida with & it would have took the pressure off both the Boeing 767-200 & Boeing 767-300 Series from transatlantic routes too.
Just adorable!!! Unfortunatly they do not exist anymore🤷♂️,even they flew only from UK and not from Germany or Switzerland Zürich Basel Genève as an stop over from their Homecountry, such as Singapore Airlines does Singapore-Frankfurt am Main-New York JFK. Thank you for putting it on RUclips 👌 🛫🛬💺🙋♂️🇪🇺🇩🇪🇨🇭
Ah - the days when saying you were going to get drunk didn't get you marked as an unsafe passenger and forcibly signed onto an alcohol abuse programme!
I can remember as a kid flying with them twice a year in the 90s The same music and aerial footage being on the onboard safety video.... I had cockpit visits and remember the "Jet Cadets" kids meals.... memories
Reminds me of my first flight on a Britannia 757 from Birmingham to Malta. I was 10 and petrified. A very nice stewardess came and spoke to me and calm me down a bit. Since then I became an aviation enthusiast 👍.
Kids won’t get to see the pilots up front anymore.. I thought Britannia was great airline. Great memories of holidays with mates back in the 80’s and 90’s..
They were terrible flying to Australia and had to refuel twice or three times depending which airport you left Oz from. On the return trip they almost ran out of loo paper; they told us to go sparingly! Then worse came after fog bound Abu Dhabi caused a diversion to Sharjah only to cause the next crew to run out of hours and they had to find another crew. I don’t think they survived long on the Long Haul. But short haul charter, they were innovative and one of the best at that time before Air 2000 launched. They also started off with very good service.
I've just retired as cabin crew. I'm so relieved I'll never have to deal with another flying chav drinking gallons of Prosecco. I longed for a return to the glory days 70s to 90s working for the wonderful airline that was British Airways.
Passenger behaviour has worsened post lockdown if my most recent experience is anything to go by. Rudeness, aggressiveness (towards staff and fellow passengers), selfishness, refusal to listen to cabin crew, etc is off the scale. I love flying but boy has it changed in the last couple of years!
@@jimmyp7928I worked in retail (after airport work) and my sister still works in hospitality, and what you say applies equally in those sectors too. Attitudes have definitely changed for the worse since Covid. "Be Kind" obviously didn't last long...
The days when the stewardesses where nice and pleasant and a pleasure to talk to unlike the old scowly hags or teenage kids you get nowadays who just mutter and scowl to you. Always a pleasure to fly BT..
So sad that my kids will never be able to see the cockpit of an aircraft in flight ☹️ Saw the pilot every flight when I was a kid. Remember going on the flight deck with my brother and sister on a flight to Orlando. It was a BA 747-200 and it was quite a squeeze with 3 kids, the pilot, co pilot and flight engineer!

Back in the days when PC wasn’t a thing and people smiled and conversed with each other. I remember flying on 757s as a kid every summer, workhorse of the British airlines and a real aeroplane!
The 757, by far my most favourite passenger jet. It looks just right and has always given me a comfortable flight to where I need to go. Those Rolls Royce RB211s are beasts. LOVE that buzzsaw sound on take off.
I was cabin crew for this great airline based at Gatwick in 1995-1996. Fantastic memories, and fantastic training up at Castle Donnington. Still have my Britannia photo album to look back on with great fondness, and my wings which doubled up as our name badge.
Flew Luton to Perth, Western Australia with Britannia on a B767 in January 1990. Refuelled/restocked at Bahrain and Singapore on the way. It was my first long haul flight and was a route that Britannia had on recently taken on. Was a fantastic flight. Great goody bag and I remember the stewardess giving me half a bottle of red to finish (I'd drunk the first half). Good memories.
This is so cool. I'm cabin crew at TUI Airways, formerly known as Thomson, and before that, Britannia Airways! Crew still talk about those brilliant Australia flights on the 767-200, and quite a few of them are still flying! (The crew, not the 762's! 😅) Thank you for your memory.
A trip to the flight deck was one of the highlights of a holiday for me as a kid; so sad it had to change due.
I used to bang Kevin the fat geordie trainer he would rob the duty free from the office ahhh those were the days 😂

Some airlines use to give wings to kids.
First time heard about this airline.
im sophisticated.
Some of these 757/767s are still flying with tui
Britainnia, Thompson, tui

I love how the priority is to get drunk 🤣🤣
We used to fly Britannia to Florida. Happy times
them were the days
The most snobby crew they had at Gatwick and Manchester and they were more stuck up then ever ba much better crew and service
That Brummie accent is pure cringe 🤢
Nearly as bad as the scouse accent.
Best airline EVER!... I'm Very fond of 'the little giant', The Boeing 737...
Back when flying was pleasurable. They’re much better than the budget airlines of today

Loved flying to Benidorm in the late 80s on these

Evacuation simulation is wrong. In an evacuation you take your backpack then jump down the slide

If only all this were true now! I’ve flown Tui and hated every second of it!
The good old days when life was fun 😉
90s was peak civilisation. Technology killed humanity's soul.
When you think of charter airlines in the 90s, Britannia is your next thought. They were just brilliant. Miss seeing them at BHX.
Passengers and staff had a better experience flying back then. Plane cabins looks more welcoming too.

when airlines loved passengers.
They had a super elegant livery
Remember being asked if you wanted a smoking or non smoking seat??!!

at 1.03 the plaine driver is talking to children and prob letting them have a go at steering , that wouldnt happen nowadays :-(

Flew five hour flight on a Britiannia aircraft, of Britannia Airways September 1968 Bourgas, Bulgaria to Luton. The good days of holiday travel/
G-BYAG. Sadly lost in Girona at the end of the nineties
I flew with Titan Airways from Glasgow - Palma De Mallorca on a 757-200 best plane ever ( booked with BA )
We’re these the good old days when u could smoke on the plane ??!! 😀
