Any updates on the smart DC pump? Still running strong?
The hygger is still running strong, I've got it next to a Tmc pump.
Did you have to modify your lid for the ai blades to fit
No, the Ai blades extend to fit and sit above the top of the lid. There is plenty of clearance
Great tank and good vid, the Alve colony is crazy! One piece of constructive criticism is that the vid is absolutely crying out for an orange lens! Where did you get the scape from?
@OnTheRob I have an orange lens, and I will use it next time to show more. The scape is by Art Reef Rock.
@@reeferexplained8846 Thanks mate, I'll check them out! Look forward to more of your vids :)
Hi there, are you still using this unit? Im considering buying one and stumbled onto this video. Would you advise something else instead?
Actually, I'm still using it. It needed the calibration liquid to be set at 25c, then recalibrate to work well. I did have a daily probe the first time around. I would recommend if tracking ph or adding C02 Scrubber
Hey my friend what light are you using and at what intensity?? Thank you. Also, where do you recommend i keep my nitrates for mostly lps corals ?
@Coral-reef. Ai Blades 1x Grow 1x Glow blues 50% at 12-5 whites 30%12-5 uv-25% violet 25% 12-5 lights on ramp up and down starts 10.30am shuts off 9.10pm.The nitrates are a loaded question what are the LPS you are keeping? Are there algae problems in the tank? Are the corals open fully and colours like the lyrics was when purchased them? I would say if there is no algae and you have good filtration, then around 5ppm nitrates at least.
The Halloween Hermit... Start looking for replacement shells now, so there are some available slightly bigger for it. They will only use cone snail shells. They like the flatter opening, since they're flatter than other hermits. I found the shells a bit of a pain to find, in the right sizes. There's tons available that are huge. The reason I say this is because the Halloween Hermit can be in a sea of new shells, and unless there's a cone snail type shell... it will die in it's old shell. Talk about picky!!! Other hermits will use an old shoe, if it's the right size. 😆
Thanks for sharing. helpful. I have a bunch of shells 🐚 I will add to the display.
Awesome! I've contemplated getting this one too. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on it.
Thanks for sharing on this product. I'm keen to get one. How accurate is the tester?
Great content, well explained.Just picked up the reef factory control after seeing your video.
Yes please 🙏 looking to buy soon
Can’t wait!
How do you like that Reef Factory Dosing Pump, the single head one? I see BRS has them on a great deal right now and was wondering if worth it.
@queencityreefs Yes, it's a great doser. Using it to dose phosphates per day, I think it can work with the reeffactory s.art tester but not worked out how to connect it yet.
@@reeferexplained8846 thanks
Wow you’re ph is high. 😮
@moereefer thanks I think with the windows open in every room and the CO2 scrubber is up there. It used to be around 8.0 to 8.1 max, and I went up to 8.3 once CO2 was added on.
Good update, keep it up :)
I know you've already noted it, but as mentioned music is too loud. Iwant to hear you! 😂
Thank you 😊, apologies 🙏 will fix this going forward
Much more engaging having you in the camera for Intros! Only thing I'd say is the music is quite loud in comparison to your voice. I do editing for a side job, so if you ever need any advice/help/tips, feel free to let me know!
@IAmTaii thanks again. I noted on music to loud
Interesting! Just about to set my new tank up tomorrow! I was looking at trying out the Red Sea 4 bottle kit they've recently had out. Not sure how long before I'll actually need it though. Still a beginner in my eyes even though this will be my 2nd tank. Wish there was more a community and folk to chat to in the local area so I can pester them with all my questions and nonesense haha
@IAmTaii Hi, if a new tank is there going to be any corals 🪸 straight away? If not, would you just test and see what the alkalinity is doing first. Let me know if more about what may go in this new tank corals wise
@@reeferexplained8846 I did reply but seems to have been removed (Probably for providing a social username). TLDR; I will be adding corals (Maybe from current system). Using special grade sand, marco dry rock, natural seawater and atm colony to get it started up. Going to be a busy week/weekend
@IAmTaii OK make sure use you use live sand and bring over some live rock if possible.Dr timms bacteria is also worth doing to help. My old display did dry rock and dry sand and had so many issues that took a year to mature and come out of the ugly stage. Good luck 👍 with the new display. What tank and size are you setting up?. I think 🤔 most people are beginners regardless of many tanks always learning. This tank is mu 4th reef display. If I was only adding to your new display some soft corals and wanted to start in an easy way, try either all for reef formula or power two part dosing. I think the red sea part 4 program looks amazing, but there are not enough reviews on this yet. Plus, personally, it seems expensive.
@@reeferexplained8846 I think I mentioned in a previous video of yours, but I'm getting the Reefer XL300 G2. Should be fun. I want to post updates on the tank so I can also look back on it and watch it grow
@IAmTaii oh hell yes, 300 XL definitely 🙌 want to see that. Should upload start to finish 🤔 good luck 👍
Thank you for filming this in landscape! Much better than some of your older videos, lol
@jason5584 Yes, I agree 👍 thanks for the advice
Hello. I'm enjoying the Refer Expired video I also run a Goniopora fish tank, so I would really appreciate it if you could let me know what is the most important part I'm using a translator, so please understand the mistranslation Some say manganese is important, others say keep P04 below 0.03, especially if you let me know the ingredients of the water tank and the food you use The number of trillions I have 190L of water po4 : 0.12 po3 : 10~15 aik : 9.2 mg : 1280 ca : 420 two tangs Two crowns One Less I'm raising about 30 chunks of Konopora I didn't measure the rest, but I don't use a sock filter either Please give me some advice
@dana-dc9xs Hi, thank you for your support and kind words. I will try and explain what I'm doing for my main corals, gonipora and alveopora, to do well. My parameters are as follows- Phosphate- 0.03ppm Nitrates- 5ppm Alkalinity - 8.9ppm Calcium- 380ppm Magnesium - 1350ppm Salintiy 1.025ppm Temperature - 78.8f Flow random low to medium Lighting not tested par 50% max on Blues and 25% whites 10hrs ramping only 5 hours at 50% on the AI blades. All gonipora on sand bed alveopora are much easier to keep and grow quicker. Feeding - Red sea AB plus once a week target feeding flow off 15 minutes they love it. I've tried in the past manganese, but I'm not sure if it helped as I need to send off regular ICP tests to check levels. I would say it's not a bad thing to add a little weekly, but it's better to do water changes instead. I think low light low flow and dirty water with levels of nitrates around 5-10ppm and phosphates under 0.05ppm. I hope that helps. Try this video on tidal gardens they are amazing tidalgardens.com/articles/coral-care-articles/goniopora-coral-care.html#:~:text=Goniopora%20can%20thrive%20in%20a,%2C%20between%2075%2D125%20PAR.
Wish I found these videos earlier best info coverage of this product I've found.
Thank you for the feedback 🙏
Best chemical media has to be Arcadia poly filter pads. They change colour to let you know what chemicals it is absorbing

Great episode 👌👏👍
Great video! Alongside the ATO, a video on RODI Unit could be useful too in terms of keeping your TDS at 0 and how to do unit maintenance
Thanks for the comments and support on the video content. I did a video on my TMC RODI unit ruclips.net/video/rask2bZt3BQ/видео.htmlsi=prhVNsk1svLcy7nu. Let me know if I should re-do another in-depth video.
What are you doing to make your Alveopora so extended, they are magnificent.
@jules2545 Not much random flow 4 pumps on back panel on reef wave mode. Feeding once a week, goniopower food and red sea AB plus. Lights only set 50% on the AI blades. Water flow Moderate to strong water movement is recommended, but direct water flow can damage the coral's flesh. The flow helps keep detritus from settling on the coral. Lighting Moderate lighting of 100-150 PAR is generally recommended, but some say there's more risk from too much light than too little. Water chemistry Stable water chemistry is important, including: Temperature: 75-80° F pH: 8.1-8.4 my ph 8.4 Specific gravity: 1.023-1.025 Alkalinity, calcium, and magnesium: Monitor these levels to support the coral's skeletal and tissue growth Nitrates: Less than 10 ppm Phosphates: Less than 0.10 ppm
Looking good. Good luck my friend. 🤞
Best of luck!!!
Great vid. Speedy recovery and look forward to future videos! Much better watch with the horizontal recording! We're just about to go away too for a birthday outing and again abroad end of September. Always scary leaving the tank along
@IAmTaii cheers 🍻 thanks for the comments and support Yes, leaving the aquarium is always drama and worry. But usually, this is the worst thing that happens : the skimmer gets full or the heater stops working. I learned my lesson last time and set up another controller for a spare heater a few degrees lower than my main heater in case it stops working. The Ato to make sure you have enough RO water on hand and made for when you get back.
I have black algae. Will this work?

That Gonipora has the longest tentacles I’ve ever seen…..super healthy and thriving! Happy reefing.
Loving these videos! Been watching every one that you upload recently. I'm getting a Reefer G2 300 very soon (Awaiting aquascape and lid being made). Only thing I'd suggest is if it's possible to record horizontally? Bit easier to watch that way too.
@IAmTaii Thanks for sharing and the advice on camera. Please share the G2 300, I would have loved to get that tank but struggled to lift this tank up 3 flights of stairs 😀
@reeferexplained8846 Can't wait! It'll be replacing a 4ft tank currently though. Your tank has made me want Alveapora or Goniopora instead of Euphyllia. I'm just worried as I read and watch a lot about their care and wouldn't say I'm experienced as only been in the hobby 12 months.
@@IAmTaii they are easy to keep long tentacles gonipora, they like dirty water so some nitrates and phosphate in the water and lower light.
I have bought a lot of tech for my tank over the years, most of has been utter cack. I have been through pH probes, heaters, temperature controllers and the most expensive kit was a multi-tester. However I do love my Clarisea filter roller, my Tunze ATO, Tunze powerheads, my Seiche pump and my deltec skimmer.
Thanks for sharing

Is there any video or manual that shows us how to get the sleeve out to clean it? Thanks for showing how to change bulb.
Great looking fish 👌🙌🤙
They are a good light, i run 2x grows and 1x glow on my 5ft sps dominant tank.
What settings are they at schedule just curious
@@reeferexplained8846 i run full spectrum from 10am till 3:30pm, then from there my whites fade completely out from 3:30pm till about 6 pm. Then lights out at 9pm.
If you have to use all of these chemicals then you need to change what you are doing. I have been in the reef keeping hobby for 20+ years. The only “chemicals” that I use are kalk and CO2 media. I have a mainly sps tank with a couple of hammers and soon to be gone mushrooms that has been running for 9 - 10 years. I don’t even have a mechanical filter. I have a skimmer, uv light and that’s it and my water is as clean / clear as can be. I prefer my tanks to be as natural as possible.
These are standard products harmful to the reef tank. They are there to help you not be a blocker. It's a closed box of water, not the oceon. I use the carbon to help clarity of water. The rowaphos may not be required. Thanks for your advice 👍
Looks good. Did you measure PAR with them?
Hiz, unfortunately, not unable to get my hands on par meter as so expensive. Just set 50% and judge by eye not ideal but working.
Rowaphos doesnt leach back in system and also it usually lasts 2 months. Your wasting rowaphos by changing it out every 2-3 weeks
@revZ098 apologies for the wrong words used. I meant to say that once levels of phosphates rise to replace it. RowaPhos has the largest absorption ability of any phosphate product worldwide and will not leach back into the water. This saves the need for immediate removal once the media is exhausted. The product is easy to use and will improve the water quality wherever Phosphate or Silicate is a problem
Nice tank
That Alveopora is gorgeous.
Really? Glow + Grow try ordering that over the phone. 😂
@@Kong_WR haha 😄 brilliant
I like them. They are just insanely expensive.
@tompage8674 yep, they are crazy expensive, never again as too much to spend on testing
How are your parameters? Nitrate and Phosphate?
@@AquariodeCorais-kx6df nitrates between 4-5ppm using hanner hr checker and phosphates 0.03ppm using smart tester reeffactory.
Glorious Goniaporas. I have the Glow and the Grow. Try Mobius as a controller for the Blades, it has a good LPS spectrum set up, that works for my SPS as well. I went away to work, a frag of my goniopora dropped off its location and landed upside down on the sand bed. A month later whilst cleaning up my tank I spotted this particular frag plug. There was a tiny bit of flesh left. I put the frag some where safe and shady on the sand bed and to my surprise it is growning back!
@jules2545 Oh, thank you. I was not aware of the mobiius app
@@reeferexplained8846 Give it a whirl, always found AI app a bit basic. When you have your lights connected, look for template, and the Growing LPS template. All you have to do is select the intensity.
Interesting to see you are also having to let a little water trickle down the emergency drain. I have this tank also and this is the only way I can seem to get things balanced. Trying to set 10mm down as RS suggest does not seem to work. Looking through the forums, it seems to be the consensus that you have to use the emergency drain for a small amount of flow. Great looking system 👍🏻
Great video, just bought a green alvo and love it thanks
Ive had mine for over 3 years, no noise whatsoever!! Brilliant skimmer
I would use a toothbrush And a big lawnmower Blenny.
Picked up starry lawn mower blenny
Hi mate how much water does the ato reservoir hold?
24-25 litres max
