16 Caminos de Santiago in just over 3 years...
I travel the world... I take my time... One country at a time...One place at a time...
In the last 3 years I have embarked on over 16 long reflective walks on the Camino de Santiago in Spain.
It all started with a friend who ask me, “…when are you going to settle down?" Long story short, I never did!
Instead I set out crazy journey that has taken all 7 continents. I have visited over 125 countries.

Camino Francés Winter Walk November - December
Lucky you! I did my fourth Camino this year, Coastal in Portugal. Where are you from? Best Michael
Congratulations! German, born un South Africa. My website has most of your questions answered. www.rolfscaminos.com
Hi Rolf, Great Video, do you actually speak Spanish? Are younalready retired or do you still working? Best Michael
Hi Michael, Thank you I do speak Spanish... I have been retired for about 20 years...
lovely walk. thanks for sharing. Greetings from Argentina.
Muchas gracias!!
Just WOW!!! Thank you!!!!😊
Glad you enjoyed it.
Great edit man.. wonderful
Thank you very much!!
I've been a fan of your videos for quite some time and I love your latest. I notice you do a lot of drone shots. I'm heading to Spain, soon, and will be taking my DJI Mini 3 Pro. I have my drone license in the US and have the Aloft Air Control but been trying to get up to speed on Spanish regulations. Do you have any website recommendations?
Hi, I am glad you like my videos. I also have a mini 3 pro that I registeredin the US. I have tried to get to get the # here and have gone through the Spanish registration process a few but for some reason it always sends me a message that the application got rejected after a few days without any reason as to why. I tried to do it in Portugal but you need to get a special e- code from the local municipal office in person in order to be able to register online... go figure. So far nobody has ever bothered me... but I will keep on trying...
@@rolfscaminos Thanks for your reply. Maybe it's a situation where it's easier to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission. I'll continue to look into it and pass along anything I find out. Safe travels.
Thanks...and good luck.
Tks for sharing!! Which season you did?
You are welcome. I started the last week of August.
@@rolfscaminosit’s so sunny!!!
I was very lucky except for one or two days.
Hey Rolf, what a fantastic video to watch. Planning to do my first camino and for now, the via de la plata is my favorite. Can you tell me when you started this Camino? Is it early spring? Looks amazing
Hi there. Thank you. I started the first week of March. I wish you a Buen Camino. Be sure to download the PDF guide, the link is in the description.
Thank you from Australia. Lovely images, informative.
You are very welcome. Thank you!
Thanks for this super Video. Very nice cut. I intend to do the Via de la Plate in April 25 as my 3rd Camino. Thanks for all these great informations. Buen Camino.
You are welcome! I am glad you liked it. Be sure to download the free PDF the link is in the description and also I have a chatbot on my site that can answer most any Camino question you may have. Buen Camino!
Acabo de de descubrir el canal y me encanta. Las imágenes son espectaculares y la explicación perfecta.
Muchísimas gracias!
Buenisimos los videos de este canal. Me encantan.
Muchísimas gracias!!! Me alegra que te guste!
Rolf did it again. A really wonderful Camino video. After 25 years of walking the Camino, reading boks and watching movies and videos, Rolf's artwork are still the best I've ever seen. Thanks, camigo. (A new expression I just found on a social network 😊)
Thank you very much Ernesto. I only have been walking the camino for 4 years, so I can only imagine what it was like 25 years ago. I love the camigo expression!
Thank you for a great camino video. I have a plan to start in Salamanca and intend to do 20/25km stages. My old legs don't like those 30+km stages. Cheers and Buen Camino.
You are welcome! Salamanca is a great city and quite a popular starting point. Be sure to visit the Cathedral roof tops. Buen Camino!
Some really great video vision. Some more shots of the inside of the alberges would have been better (imho). From your comments I think you started out around the last week in March or First week in April. That snow would have been a bit of a surprise. Cheers and thanks.
Thank you!
is magic route
It is indeed!
You are consistently putting out some of the best and most thoughtfully produced Camino videos on RUclips. I think you are achieving a level many others hope to reach but never really do. Great stuff and lovely to see the old trails.
Thank you very much. I very much appreciate your comments. There are many more to come...I just need to sit down and edit them. 😉
Eres grande!! Tus vídeos son muy ilustrativos y además considero que eres un ejemplo de peregrino, evidentemente, a seguir!! Gracias!! Rolf!
Muchísimas gracias!
Did this May 2019, beautiful camino, thx for sharing
Thank you!
Very nice job! This will be part of my next camino!
Thank you! Wish you a Bueno Camino !!
Great video and great journey Rolf, maybe I'll walk the camino too, yeah (I walked from st. Jean Pied de Port to Burgos, still have to finish it one day) Congratulations on completing this trip in winter, it looks chalenging, but it also seems peaceful and serene. Good choice of music on the video to fit the atmosphere. Wish you all the best out there :)
Thank you very much. It was a great experience. Buen Camino!
When did you leave Sevilla? What part of the Spring? Early April?
I started the first week of March.
Rolf: I just watched your video on Camino Sanabres..great...answered some of my questions, especially concerning the albergues. Plan to leave from Algeciras to Cadiz to Seviila to Santiago. Just a question: what did you have in your backpack?
Buen Camino! I carry about 10kg of clothes including cameras and a drone.
@@rolfscaminos Withbthe CPAP machine, I have 11 kgs. Did you carry much water on the Camino from Sevilla to Salamanca?
I carry a 750 ml bottle of water... no fancy bottle just a regular water bottle from the store that I refilled at every bar as they don't weigh much. I did buy an extra bottle for the super long stages without any services, but normally only carry one bottle.
Wow❤
That's what I said!
are there places to stay fora few days at a time?
There are a few places along the way where you could spend a few days if you wanted or needed to.
awesome this Camino is my next i plan for August 25. I'll be 84 and with good training it can be dome one step at a time... oh i want to go and do it solo for a female there are great angles on the Camino....
Buen Camino!
Splendid experience in the winter season, unfortunately my Frances was mostly in June into July. I much prefer the cold wet experience and snow as I encountered in France this year, thank you for sharing Rolf, Buen Camino " hasta luego"
Thank you. I also really liked the Frances in the winter. Buen Camino to you!
Thanks, Rolf! I really enjoyed watching your journey on the Vía de la Plata. The video was beautiful and the commentary thoughtful and informative. I finished both the Camino Francés and the Camino Fisterra in June 2024 and am eager to explore other routes in the next few years. I am especially intrigued by this one because this it crosses both Andalucía and Extremadura, goes from the South to North, and has such a great variety of landscape. It's inspiring that you've walked this Camino and so many others! Thank you and Buen Camino!
I am very glad you enjoyed it. The VLP is one of my favorite. Buen Camino!
Wooow! Thank you for this wonderful and inspiring journey! It warms my heart. I'm nervous to start my camino next month, November, then I found this.
Glad it helped! November is s great time to walk. Be sure to get the list of open caminos from aprinca.com as many albergue start to close. Also I have a whatsapp chat bot that will answer most any Camino questions you may have +15053339225. Buen Camino!
@@rolfscaminos Woooow thank you so much! What date did you start and end? I went to some of your camino videos, and will do some more. Insane how you did it all! Noted for the tips.
I started the last week of November.
Thank you for a very informative video. Buen Camino
You are very welcome!
Wow! Beautiful camino! Feel like Camino primitivo!
Very good, just what i need as i ly here feeling how much I would love to do this .
Thank you!
Hi Rolf thanks for sharing this nice video 😁 What time of year did you take the northern route?
You are welcome. I started the last week of August.
Wonderful video! I walked the Via de la Plata in 2017 and your film brought back many memories. Thank you!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
I also stayed in the same albergue in A Laxe and Ponte Ulla when I walked the Invierno last year. Although my original plan for my very first Camino was the Via della Plata, I couldn't do it due to time and danger (high temperatures in summer). This year I just finished the Primitivo up to Fisterra in 16 days.
Nice!
Which albergues did you stay in? I heard some close in November
A lot of them start to close towards the end of November. But there is a list from Aprinca that has the open ones. Just Google it.
This Camino looks incredible! Was it your favorite of all time?
It was in the top 2... Via de la Plata and this one... because the VLP is longer
@@rolfscaminos thanks! We are about to board a plane to Rome and we are walking the way of Saint Francis Southern route. Join us!
Loved watching your video, Rolf...i started from my home in Belgium, through France on the Via Turonensis, walked the camino Francés in Span and continued to Muxia and Finisterre. I was walking for over 3 months. I flew home from Santiago on July 16. It was so great seeing all the familiar places again...big thanks 🙂
Wow, that's a long walk! Congratulations!! I am glad you enjoyed my video. I am going to start a quick Finisterre walk tomorrow... so one day I will put it online.
I found your video very informative. Hoping to walk the Sanabres in April, 2025. Thanks!
Thank you very much. You can find a PDF guide and a chatbot if you have questions on my site rolfscaminos.com
You made it seem easy!!!
It is a very easy Camino... probably the easiest of them all...
Thank you for your amazing guide. Can I ask where you bought your waterproof poncho from as it looks great? 🙏
You are welcome. The poncho in that video is from Decatlon you can find them online or in most Spanish cities.
...veľmi dobré video, ďakujem. kedy ste kráčali? ja sa chystám teraz vo februári a trochu sa obávam, že bude veľa albergue zatvorených, lebo je to zimný mesiac. prajem ešte veľa šťastných krokov
Thank you. I started the first week of March.Buen Camino!
One of the good Camino movies! 48 min into the video, I realized one of the reasons I liked the video is that there is no music!! 😅
Thank you! I am glad you liked it...
Rolf did you carry a sleeping bag or blanket? Im starting the Plata October with a liner only. Depending on time I may also do the CF.
I only carry a sheet with me...no liner, no bag... I wish you a Buen Camino
Great informative video thanks 🙏
Thank you!
What day did you start the Camino?
Mid September
I have done the Central and the Coastal in Portugal and I would not hesitate to to return because I found it so memorable & rewarding. thank you for sharing.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Great videos thank you so much for the insights to these and other Camino Jim
Glad you like them!
Muy buenos videos, estoy rememorando mi camino en 2012 y pensando en volver, saludos
Muchas gracias!
I’m so enjoying your Camino videos,me and my husband just came back from Camino ingles and muxia which makes it our 5th Camino,Looking forward for next year and still deciding between primitivo and Sanabres, for this one do you have to book the albergues in advance or just show up that day?we wanted to do it on ,ore cooler months maybe between may or June.
I am glad you are enjoying the videos. I basically never book ahead. I only will reserve if I decide to walk a double stage....
