Very old site in remote countryside fascinating to walk around atmospheric. Nice original careworn feel to site. Fortunately not restored up to the eyeballs. Great place to stop on a cycle run.

    Hi, I made the mistake of trying to unscrew the two foot screws, and I was successful with one of them, albeit now the crosshead on one doesn't look quite as nice as it did before I started (doh!!), but they are in VERY tight, but mine (1941 Pflueger Skilkast) were indeed screws (threaded anyway), but you are right to leave well alone, and for me what is done is done (learned the hard way unfortunately). Yours may be rivets, not sure? Just waiting for an early1930's Summit to arrive myself (lighter red jewel on the earlier ones), and I'll give it a proper service and polish, but I'll be leaving those bl**dy crosshead things alone! Love these old American reels Cool video btw, thanks for posting it. Edit: Got the reel and stripped it down; no washers in mine either (or in my SkilKast version). Cheers. Paul

    Create video! But for the record, the first major piece you removed is a cock, not a bridge (a bridge would be spanning something from one side to the other, attached on both sides). It's actually a cock with a foot, the foot being where the hole for the pin and screw is. This comment is not for you, it's for people who are learning the parts of the watch. I'm sure you know the terminology but misspoke.

    I believe you should not put any lateral strain on the chain, as it can result in a loosening of the links. It is best to support it while pulling it straight out. Think of the link that is closest to the support as the chain is dangling in mid-air, that link is being strained by the entire weight of the chain.

    • @avianfish8732
      @avianfish8732 9 месяцев назад

      Not charging means two things, not drawing current or Brocken charger. So test the batteries separate from your system. Use a car batt charger if it works and draws current then check for a path between the charger and the battery. If path is good then the charger is bad.

    The piece of ground steel is a metal lathe high speed tool bit blank The other tools are made to measure inside diameter bores accurately. Inserted in the hole, you then lock the telescopic end in place and then pull out of the hole and use a precision micrometer to measure the distance between the faces

      @@keith4230 I remove old grips with pliers, just squeeze and rip out the chunks of cork. Once that's done I use a heat gun to heat up the old seat. Use gloves and an old towel to pull on the seat. You'll probably have to do this several times but eventually the seat will come off. For a video tutorial, check out Proof Fly Fishing's RUclips channel, he has step by step instructions.

    When you dismantle the bail arm you should remove the trip cover, take out the trip pin and small spring, then by removing the bail pick ups leave them attached to the bail arm, once springs are removed then un-screw the bail pick up one end then by using the spanner supplied remove the bail locking nut to release the line guide and roller. You should also remove the axle before undoing the nut holding the rotor cup on

    Very nice work. Realizing it's of course hard to get some processes in focus on camera, but even if they were out of focus or not perfectly framed, it might be worth leaving some in, in future videos. Trust your viewers to be able to fill in the gaps, and figure out what's going on, even if it's not perfectly shot. Beautiful, small controlled work there. Congratulations.
