Have you ever heard of “*glacier mice”? They are not real mice, but rather small balls of moss that grow on glaciers. These moss balls can be found on glaciers in places like Iceland and Alaska.
Scientists were surprised to learn that the moss balls move across the ice. They
wanted to know what makes them move, and it turns out that they move because of the sun. In summer, when the sun melts the glacier around them, they move about 2.5
centimeters per day. Scientists also found that the moss balls can survive on glaciers for six years or more.
But the researchers noticed something strange about the movement. The moss balls moved together, and even changed direction...
