Nice team ❤
is slowbro still viable?
Even if matcha didn’t auto thaw scald does so they had 2 moves to thaw
I was surprised when they switched bc of that but they won not me 😅
Hey, just to let you know, there are 2 Stephen Brown VGC players. The twitter you linked isnt the right one. Stephen doesnt have a twitter. Thanks for covering the team!
My bad, used the Twitter that Victory Road had listed. I'll remove that!
You should use t tar with choice scarf+icywind 😂 Seen james baek brought that set up in his video, someone broght to a regional i thougnt was pretty funny lol
Hey Talon, I built the team with Stephen. So proud of him for making Day 2. The Gastrodon is to wall rain teams. Tera steel makes you resist hurricane and dragon pulse. You can also pin Basculegion in end games as long as Tyranitar is alive. It’s also required for certain Trick Room teams that can’t be stopped by taunt. It’s an honor that you made a video about the team. Hopefully it won’t be the last lol 🫡
Great teambuilding! I've never been a strong Gastro player myself but it for sure can have its uses with Yawn against TR and Rain obviously
there is only one thing that is bad about this team and thats the fact your signature mon isn't shiny
@@julianbrandhofer644 facts!!
Hey I'm Stephen thanks for showcasing the team. Myself and David Roseman are the creators, I appreciate the love
Cool team, some friends played you on ladder before the Regional and had it on their radar, glad to see you take the ladder success to irl!
That's the exact thing I needed as the sixth slot on my team. I've been trying to find a tech ice type to put on my chomp team, this is perfect. Fast ice damage is so so good in this format
Water pledge you say? That is a surprise.
Yeah Blastoise doesn't get many great single target moves
The team with Pledges is really intersting because not only does a fast blaziken allow slow empoleon to go first but also the reverse is true with the slow empoleon allowing a fast blaziken to go first in trick room. Cool concept
I've been trying to get dipplin / focus blast to work for SO LONG after I noticed ursaluna, duraladon, and kingambit don't appreciate special type fighting moves, but I can't get enough value from the dipplin.
Kommo-o with focus blast or vacuum wave just a thought
Special fighting seems strong but even when you get the Dipplin in position you only hit 70% of the focus blasts
Thanks for the shout! The team can be very tricky to play in closed sheets.
How do you get water spout on Blastoise?
You can copy it with Mirror Herb in a picnic if another Pokemon in your party has Water Spout
@@TalonVGC Thanks!
3 trick room teams in a row and no p2 what is going on
So little faith in your mons to survive stuff here. You would've done better in that last game if you had taken more risks.

I’m gearing up to go to my first regionals in December. I was wondering if there are any good Discord groups or websites for intentionally battling other people or just a VGC community in general?
vgcresources.com/ There are a couple discord groups here, as well as other resources
Great breakdown. When are we going to see you breaking down youre own team you top cut with?
Whenever I actually make it out to an event and do well haha. I'm signed up for Sacramento!
@@TalonVGCHell yea. Hope to see you on the top cut stream. Hell maybe even win it!
Hi Talon, I watch a lot of your videos since the year started and I feel dumb for asking but I thought you were toler Webb. Do mind sharing your name?
You're not the first to say we share a resemblance, my name is Cedric haha
Yanmega used to be one of my fav pokemon super glad to see it in comp after all these years
I personally love Marco Martinez's team. Literally the very first thing I put into the team builder when reg h started was dnite, gambit, rilla, and ceruledge. I thought the synergy between those 4 would be insane, but I couldn't figure out the last 2 or the sets I should give them. I tried a few things, but nothing really worked so i shelved the idea. The only thing I'm iffy on is the amoongus matchup. You have rilla without an assault vest taking SE Pollen Puff/Clear Smog/Sludge Bomb and tera grass ceruledge as you're only spore answers. I'm playing around with it and seeing if I can find a way to get safety goggles on the team somehow. As a stopgap I put taunt on rilla to help patch up the matchup, but it still feels a little iffy. I guess the corv matchup is kinda tough as well....
I played Yotam round 4, and it did not go well
Love your content man <3
Also, there was a fast torkoal without erupiton
Sorry you couldn't make another tournament. Rough season for that.
I thought I gonna see some rental codes Unfortunately 😪
I added rental codes I could find for some of the teams, not exact matches. Most players aren't sharing Rental Teams at this point in the season and I haven't had time to recreate them.
you're such a goat for making these videos, keep them coming chief !!! Liked :)
Fantastic breakdown! Any opinions on TTar balance teams?
I haven't seen many of those around. I've liked TTar on Tailwind teams, and have seen it pop up on some teams with Excadrill and Kommo-o
I just realized if you could Tera one mon per battle to it’s Tera-type OR Stellar, it would be way more interesting. If you had that flexibility, there would be times you want to use it for defense or for the Stellar boosts and maybe Stellar Tera Blast would actually see use.
How would you fill out that first dozo team? I swapped to king magmar balance with solo dozo as the dozo/giri counters became too oppressive and frequent.
I posted a filled out pokepaste in the description with dragonite and kingambit as alternate coaching receivers, and a follow me skill swap unaware clefable to handle other dondozo a little bit.
@@TalonVGC thanks, will give it a try on showdown. You rock
Hey, I have a friendly tip for you, Use smergle with no retreat and a partner pokemon with follow me, Then baton pass into dondozo with the no retreat boost, Bring in dondozo partner pokemon for the extra boost in stats than you have a plus 3 in all stats with the Unaware ability and either dragon or fairy tera.
Great breakdown!
ahhhh that's so tragic you can't make Louisville!! Do you think Dozo will cut this tourney?
I do think Oblivious Tera Steel Dondozo will make top 16
@@TalonVGC Unaware is the best way to go.
Dozo might. Giri won’t have a shot sadly
Teams with EVs in the description! I also added a filled out version of the Dondozo concept!
And videos like this is why it's important to learn math in school XD
“Meganium, .. trash” WAITWAITWAITWAITWAIT NONONONO
Currently trying to make an off-meta trick room team work. Problem is getting the move truck room off. I have tried so many different ways. Came to yt to see how other people manage to use trick room. I have been thinking I need a wide guard user maybe? Idk. Trying rage powder amoongus first
Bro when i used this team torkoal missed heat wave 4 times
AWESOME VIDEO BRO.
Duck, duck… bridge?
7:17 Wtf that Elecro Shot DAMAGE! Holy! Very cool team!
Whats the spread on arch? Like max speed and sp.atk?
EV spreads for all pokemon are in pokepaste in the description, the Arch is Modest 252/252 SpA Speed
Does speed tiers matter when using upper hand? I see it fail befre using priority
Upper Hand is +3 Priority, so same priority bracket as Fake Out. The faster Pokemon between Upper Hand and Fake Out will move first, meaning a slow Upper Hand user could not block a faster Fake Out.
Hisuian Decidueye with scrappy matches up well against Donsdozo, Iniceroar, Goldango and Rillaboom. And it has tailwind and its signature move is really good.
Dozo is a big one, you can even run Haze if you don't want to try to crit Leaf Blades. Lots of folks use Flamigo as a faster Scrappy user to outspeed and OHKO Gholdengo, Incin, and Rillaboom as an alternative to Decidueye
@@TalonVGC ok
38:20 I'm guessing here you shoulda used Upper Hand, correct? I'm tryna learn how and when to use this move correctly. Cuz if you land it, you get a nice lead. Albeit if you fail it, it can cost you the game.
If I know they have Ice Shard, yeah I should use Upper Hand to stop it and get enough damage for Hurricane to KO. However, if they go for Blizzard in combination with Rage Fist, they'll take 2 KOs if they hit, so I felt CC was safer.
So, it's like a double edge sword.
I jus watched his vid. Lol Glad you got battles wit it, cuz I wanted to see Upper Hand in action.
I’m fascinated by Upper Hand in Reg H.
where is the pokepast bro
