Loggers Don't Just Cut Trees Down, We Stand Them Back Up Too. Part 1 The Original Rig Up Part 2 Soon
Sometimes S*** happens. Other times it can be prevented. I have never seen this before. The logging gods like to keep us on our toes and remind us that no matter how much experience we have, there is still more to learn. I definitely learned something new after this whole fiasco. No one, or thing, got hurt except the tree. Part 2 will show how we fixed this problem, coming soon.

Monday Warriors, Forces Explained, You Have an Extra Set Of Climbing Gear In Case I Need Rescued?

The other hook tender Tommy, helped me rig this block tree. I tried to explain some of the forces being put on a side washed block tree. Fixed the dutchman!! We de rigged it also, cut down a tree with a Husqvarna 372.
How to File a Chainsaw Like a Logger
Просмотров 134 тыс.Год назад
10 guys will file a chain 10 different ways. This is how I do it. It works great for me. It takes a lot of practice to get good. When I grow up I hope I'm great at it. Best of luck to you, hope this helps.
Don't Do This While 50 Feet in a Tree
Просмотров 2,6 тыс.Год назад
As contractors we walk on a line between production and perfection. There are situations where leaning a little in either direction is a good thing. When checking my face cut I saw the dutchman and left in because of confidence in my ability to judge the hinge wood while taking the dutchman into account. All turned out fine. It easily could have gone south in a short amount of time and making t...

Another lift tree rigged for the rigging crew. Found out that the batteries in the GO PRO don't last very long. Will have another video up shortly, with more angles and the good stuff. I like the little hatchet.

Tree Riggin' in The Snow, I Get Paid to Do This?
So you are saying length of teeth will make your cut left or right???
I can't believe you'd cut down such a majestic beast.. 😡. ....but but but saw it go BBBRRRAAAPPP. dude was like f**k the saw run motha f***a 3120 is on my list of saws to port. I've done a bunch of 372s both OE and xtorq a 390 and a 395. It will be interesting to see how it turns out.
If you cant hand file you are not a capable logger.
Limb wood makes excellent wedges.
If you can't grind your chains and put them in a backpack you should find a job being a greater at Walmart. Fileing a chain when cutting timber coast you 60 bucks. I'm a 37 year veteran cutter cut in south east Alaska.
Amateur at best!!
I find it much better to wear a belt that holds my wrench and files, keeping a file in your pocket sounds like an accident waiting to happen
I like to prop the bar up on a tree at about a 45, with the saw on the ground between my legs, that gives me good control, the chain doesn't move nearly as much, and when you got a really buggered up chain it allows you to dig the file into it if need be.
Brave man
That loaders just in the way the processor should be doing it all delimit log it out wallets right there that loader should be loading trucks
I did this lots. Old school stuff.
Outstanding!
Awesome!
Nice lay for that old pickle!
Great video!!
Very cool!

@@timberhillinc thanks
Beautiful little yarder my friend. Great job!
Thank you, she does the job well.
the Husqvarna 5052435-01 Combination Gauge 3/8 inch (5.5 mm) is a progressive raker gauge with soft and hard wood settings. compact and easy enough to carry and use.
Great footage! So, are you using the "E Choker" system, work good for you? Must be better than having to have a Chaser.
they are great, a little maintenance goes a long way with them. super slick on the landing.
@@timberhillinc how are they dragging around in the brush? I am thinking of getting some for my guys. Thought of running presets of 2 per hooker.
Harder than standard chokers. Nobody likes dragging them through the brush, you grab the bell end and drag the ring, or fold them in half and carry the bells and rings off the ground over your shoulder if it's really brushy. 2 or 3 isn't bad at all, but 4 or more gets a little rough. Hefty investment for sure, and really hurts the big feelers if you lose one. There are huge benefits on the landing, though. Fortronics is my favorite.
@@timberhillinc good to know. Yeah at almost 40,000 for 8 of them it’s a pretty steep investment. Love your videos. Hope you keep them up! I own a Thunderbird 45 and do all the hooktending for the side. I love seeing what other guys are doing. There aren’t many other yarders around our area.
@@timberhillinc separately, if you ever find yourself looking for work and want a change of scenery… I am always looking for good guys. We are up in northeast Washington by Canada and Idaho.
Buckin billy ray smith would love this vdo
Excellent video thanks from Ireland
Cheers from Vancouver Island!
A two hour drive, one way, in snow and ice, and in the dark, work 10 to 12 hours, in snow and ice, moving logs, drive back home for 2 hours, in snow and ice, in the dark; what's not to like? At least the cabs of the machines are heated, I would hope. Respect and admiration for people who make a living doing this, and under these conditions.
Been missing your videos lately, hoping for some new content soon!
Thanks man, I've been meaning to get back into it. Living that logger lifestyle!!
I don't care what anyone says, logging is hard work and dangerous. It's a living to be proud of but not one to be taken lightly by any means.
Douglas-fir
Great job. just a suggestion you're doing a lot of hauling stuff up that tree, what we do is the guy in the tree will bring a block with him and run a rope to the guy on the ground so the guy on the ground can do the hauling.
I have definitely thought about doing that. I will have to get one. My shoulders start to feel it.
Logger out of Washington state. Whenever we hang intermediate supports we rig up a minimum of 4 tree guidelines and lately hook boss has been rigging up 5! We’re running a big bowman carriage and a 70 tmy yarder. Sweet video and stay safe out there!!
That’s right. Listen to that 3120 just hunker down and pull chain That’s a real man’s saw. Even better if you change the carb with one that has a high jet adjustment
Great attitude and very helpful.
Fella you and I must be brothers from different mothers. You do exactly the same as myself. What would you do when cutting frozen hard wood ???
$15 for a sharpen $10 for a bar dress and $75 for a carb overhaul is what I charge here in oz
Thats a good deal
Beautiful Douglas-fir forest. British-Columbia?
Yes that helps what about chain heats?
Always love to see a pro letting the saw do the work. Can’t count how many times I’ve been teaching greens how to cut and come back and see them nearly ripping the handles off trying to cut with a dull chain 😂
This is next level shit!!
Is that a 540 Xp?
Zen and the Art of Chainsaw Maintenance
That’s a hell of a stick, nice lay!
Boss makes a dollar. I make a dime. That's why I file chain. On company time. 😁
How do I sign up ?
Haha find a yarder logging crew and tell them you want to be a Hook Tender!
@@timberhillinc Back in the 60's I found out who the boss was and found out where he lived and knocked on his door and asked for a job. He hired me the next day. I worked for him for 5 years and then went to work in a sawmill for 31 years.
Oregon myself! Hammer down! Get wood on the ground
Limbing and topping before dropping and bucking, seems like the hard way to do it .😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Sure is, but there is a reason. Check out a couple other videos on my channel in the "rigging trees" playlist.
What are you doing rigging a intermediate support?
We sure are.
Why do you climb and top those trees? Why not just fell them from the ground?
These ones I climb will be used as lift trees. Kinda like the pillars that hold up a ski lift. I will use a rope to pull up some rigging and cables and set it up to keep our lines in the air so we can get logs.
@TimberHill you need to show that set up. Sounds cool
Shouldn’t you do ur rakers after the tooth so I can judge how much needs to come off?
On a new chain I do, or if I rock it really bad I'll wait until after I file the teeth, but most times I know by the way it cuts the last time I filed whether or not I need to take some off.
How about a bfh❤❤

I could have sent that whole ass tree in that hole
