    If you place some limit switches at the two desired extremes of where your 3d printed rollers go you could remove the guess work on when to let go of the remote. As a viewer, the feedback I would give about the length of your video is that you could cut out a of of the 'trying out' sections of video. You were trying out your mechanism about 5-6 times in this video, when you one pre-build 'moved with your hands' motion to explain when your going to do, then building steps, and then one showing it working at the end would have been enough, we don't need to see your testing it after every step unless you need to show some kind of problem you were not expecting when you showed your plan at the start comes up. With regard to the actual result, good job!

    Earned yourself a subscribe sir! Really enjoyed the style, the healthy balance between talking and music, really liked it. And the length was fine for me! You might consider getting some switches too act as auto stops so the actuator doesn't extend too much, and it would do away with the quick reflexes on using the remote! Please keep up the great videos!

    Hi there, Marcus again, That is a nice way to sort things out in a small workshop... I'd actually ditch the remote! because frankly we have too many of the silly things & you would only need to use it when changing the buckets.....( that said we wish them for other things) I was in the chemists waiting for a Script the other day (I still use Paper scripts & I am glad of that with the news this week we had of the information breach this week in Australia) I saw that even an electric toothbrush has an app....... I had a remote with a reversing camera I purchased for my vehicle some time ago. (I was using it more as a rear view mirror) I misplaced the remote..... but then must have disconnected the battery in the car for some maintenance reason completly seperate to the reversing camera & It reverted back, so If a car passed me on the drivers side it showed on the camera on the passengers side! Perhaps why I noticed & wrote to you a week or so ago!......The most disconcerting 20 Klms I have ever driven!!!!...... The people where I purchased the camera helped me & used another remote as I couldn't find mine...I very nearly purchased another! But as you might well know, as soon as you commit to that new one, you find the missing item.... And I did find it a couple of weeks later........ I am enjoying your journey so Keep it up.....Marcus

    • @RichmondWoodworks
      @RichmondWoodworks 12 дней назад

      The large bag stops dust getting to the motors, which are also covered by filters. It doesn’t capture the dust, the dust sits directly in the metal bin.

  • @howardbecdove9780
    @howardbecdove9780 15 дней назад

    Thanks very much for your video. I bought the 3 motor version…. also inspired by Dennis. I live in Sydney and during a trip to Melbourne, bought the Camvac. I just came across your video today. I also came across the file to print those housings, but have no printer. In the end I purchased the filters only a few days ago, after months of procrastinating and hand wringing about the postage cost,as I couldn’t find another option. They are on their way. Postage was a killer at around AU $145. 😢 The suppliers “Stockroom” in Canada are nice to deal with however. Meanwhile, yesterday I hooked it up to my new (first) thicknesser through the super dust deputy 4/5 ( like the one in your background) that I also set up yesterday, with mixed results. It was the first time I’ve tried to use anything other than a shop vac. Still learning, and desperate to improve. I also would like to build a sound box, and welcome any content on the Camvac in general, I’ve found very little content that helps. I’m hoping you’ll share your progress with the Camvac. BTW I tried to measure the air flow with the 3 motors running, but it was off the scale. Subscribed! Cheers Howard

    • @RichmondWoodworks
      @RichmondWoodworks 14 дней назад

      Hi Howard, Thanks for subscribing! The postage costs was something I just couldn't get past - I think the add-on is amazing from Stockroom, great little idea. I do wish they came as standard on the camvac, or at least something you can buy as an add-on here in Australia. When you say mixed results, it wasn't picking up the chip from the thicknesser? The video for the enclosure of the camvac is coming out this weekend, and I am currently recording the cylcone box with bin - I hope to tackle the sound box / muffler soon - I have some ideas loosely based on Dennis' design, but will mix it up a little to fix my space. I measured the 2 motor version down to a 90mm PVC pipe, and it was off the scale too...my anonomometer only goes to 30m/s. Curious where you got your Camvac from? I got mine for MMVIC, curious if there are any other stockists around.

    • @howardbecdove9780
      @howardbecdove9780 14 дней назад

      @@RichmondWoodworks Thanks for your reply. Yes! Only half the chips are caught by the bin with the cyclone. I’d quickly put everything together to run some hardwood edging for my workbench. It’s taking up floor space where my trailer normally goes, and need to complete. I’ll need to revisit the whole cyclone thing now that the jobs nearly done. That’s great news about upcoming videos, that’s exactly what I now need. Look forward to them. Yes, bought from MMVic. I think they are the sole distributor for Australia. I know you’ll want to move on with your topics, but it’s great to know that you’re doing content about the Camvac. Thanks once again for taking the time to share.

    • @RichmondWoodworks
      @RichmondWoodworks 17 дней назад

      haha, I was thinking the same thing when I recorded the video initially...however the anomometer I happen to purchase doesn't have CFM as a setting, maybe I need to buy a different one, I suppose I could have done the conversion myself. Thank you for the feedback, much appreciated. I bought the dust collector from mmvic.com.au/ they have all the variants of the CamVac, however, when I bought the Record Power Air Cleaner the remote didn't work, I have emailed a couple times without a response - so they may not be so responsive if something goes wrong. It could have just been me though.

  • @aydngulgun8936
    @aydngulgun8936 17 дней назад

    Oh my god, I feel honored. And here is the reason why I asked you this question. I am designing a dust collection system for the CNC machine that I am building and through experiment I saw that a good cyclon eliminates most of the big particles and for the most dangerous small ones filters are both expensive and hard to maintain. That is why I was designing a water curtain to use after the cyclon to trap the fine dust and get rid of it properly. Here in Türkiye, we have 3 motor (1200w x 3) vacumes that are easily available and very cheap I started with them, and removing the filter and using only the cyclone and the water curtain yielded really good results. So I got myself a 5.5kw centrifugal fan and started to design the same system but this time for 150mm ducting. currently, I am trying to build a cyclon from a 55-gallon (208 Liters) barrel, and soon a bigger water curtain.

    • @RichmondWoodworks
      @RichmondWoodworks 17 дней назад

      Oh Wow! I would love to see the end result, very curious how the water curtain would function (as I google water curtains and dust collection). Looking at hundreds of videos on dust collection over the years where they have a cylcone, I believe there is always a level of dust going into the dust collector itself. However, it is very very small, I have seen a couple systems where there are two cylcones which may help? I would love to have a dust collector that you don't really have to maintain, that way I would not need to really access it at all. In the next video I go through creating the new dust collector cabinet, I think it makes really good use of the corner of a workshop, and not having much need to access it frequently because of the cyclone. Thanks again for the idea to do the baseline and look forward to hopefully seeing your dust collection setup, please do share it when you make it.

This is a (hopefully productive)comment!.... not a criticism... I think the side lane on your house is on ther left hand side as you look at your house from the front! your shed is on the right hand side of your garden you look at your house from the street.... Where was it you got those bulk screws?.... ( Scrooze or similar) you should also try to refer to some more of the more specialist supplies...... 'Bunnings' are really not that cheap, when you look at it..... I used BC/D Radiata plywood from Plyco.com.au - I got pretty lucky with the batch as there were not voids and the faces were pretty good. I did sand them down quite a bit to get the roughness off. Very happy I got 15mm plywood, was quite the workout putting them up but very happy now I can screw shelves and cabinets where ever I need and not have to worry about studs.

    Just a suggestion. Instead of the oil at the end, try car wax. It not only seals your cast iron, it creates a nice slick surface. Another plus is you probably already have some, no additional purchase required. Have a wonderful day.

      Paste wax works well as well.

    • @stazeII
      @stazeII 28 дней назад

      @@RichmondWoodworksyup. They discontinued it. Here in the states we use Minwax now, but I’d imagine any with little/no die would be fine. Car wax would probably work fine too, I think paste wax being “the thing” is likely just cause woodworkers have it around. “When you’re a hammer” and all. :)

      It honestly didn’t take very long to clean all the tools up…funny thing to watch out for was the overspray with the WD40, which made the epoxy floor really slippery.

    Hey, Great job on the lining. Just wondering did you remove the fly bracing to get the ply in? If so are you planning on reinstalling it or do you feel the shed's fine without it. I'm doing the same thing with my shed at the moment and I'm tempted to take out the fly braces - they're ugly and in the way.

    • @RichmondWoodworks
      @RichmondWoodworks Месяц назад

      They are so ugly, the builders seemed to think it wasn’t really needed, and in my opinion the fly brace is meant to stop the shed from racking and the walls lined with 15mm plywood would probably do just that, and maybe a little better.

    Hey Lukasz, I got a mini PC box from Amazon (~$150) with Win 11, hdmi, usb, wifi, etc.. plugged in the keyboard, the mouse, the TV (yeah, a 75" one, not a monitor) and I have a nice big screen in the garage now. I used to use Chromecast from my phone but a PC is better in any way and the little one I have can run Sketchup with no issue!! Just a thought.. Cheers, good episode mate, keep them coming, I need to buy more popcorn 🙂

      I’m have an old Mac mini behind the tv, but because the table saw is just next to it, it can be a little difficult to bring the keyboard and mouse out. I hope to do a deep dive video of the shed once it is all done! Thanks for watching!

      @RichmondWoodworks I've been gifted a Costco 7' x 11' prefabricated composite shed, which I want to turn in to my workshop, but I'm struggling to find anyone to put a base down for me. I have health issues, so I am unable to do it myself. Once it is up, I'm really looking forward to starting my woodwork journey.

    also the version of this that idly lives in my head has long low recesses in the drawer top, undercut a bit to grab. I also don't want to bang my leg on them in passing. if I get my dust collection sorted out or (more plausibly) get lazy, it'll just be a wide cutout to grab I reckon

    • @RichmondWoodworks

      I have a couple ideas on the dust collection, I have bought the dust collector, sitting on the right hand side of the mitre station, but just need to get a cyclone and put the piping up. Will feature on an upcoming episode.

  • @RedFrogRising

    mitre station looks great, mate. nice video too :) re: cutting up mdf, instead of cutting all the pieces square individually, could you square the sheet by picking an edge that's straight and cutting your square parallels from that? the third edge might be straight and parallel but you could cut it to be sure. I think. I have exactly zero experience cutting large sheet goods. also I just realised the out-of-square was at the primary breakdown of the sheet from the dust. never mind :)
