4 years ago I was 185lbs smoker drinker. I told everyone I was going to run a marathon. I quit smoking and drinking lost the weight ran two marathons. I start fire academy this April. If you want I’ll come to Texas and run the marathon with you holligan the hooligan.

My wife ran an ultra before she ever ran a marathon. She said don't be a lil bitch Holligan and just do the ultra. (She may have been a collegiate level cross country runner and not a donut aficionado like Holligan though)

I have been watching you guys for awhile now it's become an after shift tradition for me. The 90's were WILD!!! My parents let me get whatever fish I wanted from the pet store. I had a damn PIRAHAN. A red belly pirahan. Named him bandit and fed him goldfish. Used to have my friends come over and do " showings" of him feeding for a fee.

Newer listener here! Love the podcast so far, been binging a couple episodes and I was curious if you guys have any tips to succeed through schooling? I’m going through Orange County’s program I start Monday with EMT and through October I get Fire Standards. We also have to get our Paramedic license within three years

Are you expected to always workout as a group? Normally around what time of the day are folks working out? I know it all depends on the calls coming in that day.

Just had my first daughter and I report for academy April 1st. Can’t I just leave my kid at the fire station? Then after my shift just come back and claim her.

Curious. I've recently found you guys and think you're hilarious. You guys clearly cover the career firefighter perspectives. Some people love to hate on volunteers.... But have you thought about like having someone that volunteers out in the rural part of whatever area you're at. Or someone call in. And give the volunteers perspective. Areas where they don't receive daily calls but that's the only fire protection. Volunteer departments still make up a good portion of US fire protection. People still go to the station and hang out and goof off and train etc. It's just instead of being paid to sit at the station and wait for a call their likely with their family or doing their 9-5 or whatever they have to do to make $ for their family. They just have a desire to serve beyond that and drop what they're doing and respond when the tones drop.

Rewatching The Simpsons….its completely worth it….IF you’re watching from Season 1 to Season 9 or 10….. FYI-Bram Stoker’s Dracula….Francis Ford Coppola directed it….he insisted it be shot completely on a sound stage and all the special effects were done practically, in-camera and without green screen or CGI…..the idea was that it could have been filmed during the period in which the story takes place…..

I took a girl out once, had a good time, she was cool. I asked if I could see her again and she said that it wasn’t gonna work out, I wasn’t her type… ok fair, I don’t like me much either, maybe there’s things I can improve on… so I asked what I could improve on…. And she told me she didn’t like me because I wasn’t 6’5” and black…. I’m 5’9” and super white…. Hilarious in hindsight.
