In the first video we got her on the water.. Now we complete it! at least to my standards.. This boat defines a muscle boat! Meaning the project never ends! And neither the wonder why we spend our time chasing that extra mile per hour for each mile driven. Or the feeling you get from creating something you can call your own!

beautiful
the correct thing to do is put an OMC hub in the prop not shave down the shaft. Having an 18 foot Viking (1979) that had an Evinrude 235 I took off and put a 200 Black Max on I can tell you Ive had experience with both. The Mercury had .150 cut on the heads and the squish band cut @ 11 degrees, TDR and Boyesen 2 stage reeds, Diamond Marine 15 inch mid section, and 30 Cleaver prop. At 6400 it ran 94 mph on a GPS. I could have raise and widened the exhaust ports and got it over 100 mph but why bother, at 94 it was scary fast and there wasnt anything that could beat it until a Cigarette ran off and left me.
I honestly haven't had any issues with my black max outboards the ignition chit out on me once❤usual impellers poppet valves nothing major 😊maintenance might be the key but no machinery is bulletproof they all break ,i like the old outboards only because a can afford about 5k for a engine i cant afford 20😊 grand for a new 300 lol maybe when there 30 years old😊walk that pad like a madman
Haha johnson
If you want to sale let me know ok bro
Hey thanks for an awesome video I'm wanting to build a little shed and this info really helps ✌️🤟
Firstly l live in Australia and it is High Lux and l own a 1997 Toyota Hilux but it would not look good lowered because l have the drop side aluminium tray my Hilux is exactly the same underneath except the rear springs are much beefier for carrying heavier loads but with the hard bodied tray lowering they look good and of course l have to mention the 22R engine such a brilliant engine one of the best engines ever

Lucky indeed
That’s wicked man! Lucky day forsure 😅
Needs a blowout ring .. nose cone ..open exhaust ..I ran a 14 32 cleaver on a 235 on a 20 foot hydrostream mid 90s..make sure pad is flat for 6 feet ...~~~
That's a nice boat
If you mount the ball joint on TOP of the uca, you’ve got more low
just got that exact boat. Where are you from ? Also have the same trailer.
nice clean 235! I have an 83' 2.6XP thats going to the machine shop. didnt realize it has the same heads as OMC claimed they were exclusive to the 2.6 in marketing material. just need a low water pickup so you can keep it strait!
Wtf but a merc.on that!
You guy’s have some awesome boats!! I’m gonna get one someday!! Cvx20
I like it. I remember these cars in the showroom (Smokey and the Bandit). Now the paint work, cause it is still a POS the way it looks. Good video
Yeah it has a great drivetrain now and the interior is in great original condition. I Hope the customer gets the body work done so I can do a follow up!!
Love watching ur vids brother.
Thanks my man! I am glad you enjoy!!

Can u show ur magneto stator cdi unit and coil type
It is by far the coolest boat ever designed , pipkorn was way ahead of his time ,nice ride !
Yes it was! Thanks!
My dad used to have a CVX16... Lately I've been getting the urge to track that boat down, restore it, and put a fully-built merc racing 2.5 2 stroke v6 on there to push about 350hp... People keep saying it's sketchy at speed though, but like... What would be a safer hull to go with for trying 100+ with a single outboard? Looking for a 5-6 seat "cruiser" (meaning I don't care about fishing and would only do watersports if it was convenient) with classic speedboat/runabout looks like the CVX or one of those ole wooden speedboats. But, y'know... Stable at 100+ OH, also a bit of a bonus if it's decent in rough water, too. I plan for mixed ocean and lake usage. Hence the outboard.
I mean that cvx is definitely sketchy at just 50mph. That being said, you could put a hydraulic 6 to 8 inch set back box and some good/long trim tabs to stabilize the thing and it could reach some good speeds. Transoms on those things require some re-enforcing to handle big power!
@@adrenalinok9224 So what are some other options I might look at, then? What's stable at 80+ under 20ft with 5-7 seats and decent in roughish water that you might find in the gulf/Tampa bay area/not too far offshore of Miami/the east coast? I'm not gonna take the thing like 50+ miles offshore or anything, but I don't want it to be a death trap or just unbearable to run in the sorta-rough stuff. A high freeboard is nice, too. Don't want the steering wheel in my lap or my seats all the way on the floor, y'know?
Another damn video ruined by some damn music . The boats and the sounds is all we came for. Not ur damn feelings portrayed through gay music.
6 cylinder thunder bolt mercury came on my 68 Larson Lapine, could not imagine how it would have gone ,have 60 4 stroke honda still fun but o man!
fresh transom and core in her? If not time to crack her and do it. Looked like she don't wanna get up on the pad
2 years ago, no way this is still standing and if so it's going to be looking pretty rough.
That thing looks GREAT! Really cleaned up nice! I would have been content with its condition, where you started the video! Where did you find that seat!? I have an 82 XL500 that could use some love, and I like the way that seat looks! While you had the rear suspension broken down, is there any easy way to lower the bike a little? (I really couldn't tell) My 500 leans so far over, when on the kick stand. As I've seen in a lot of pictures, I tend to leave a 2x4 or something under the kick stand, so I don't have to pick the bike off the ground, when I get on it. I imagine a lot of the seat wear that I have, is partially due to that very issue. Aside from cutting and welding the kick stand slightly longer, which I expect would make the stand stick out a little when in the up position. I was hoping to find a way to reduce the clearance height just a LITTLE. Thanks for the great video! You've got a great looking bike!
Thanks for comment! The seat and tank are from a 1985 XL 350. Some mods were needed for fitment. There is a height adjustment on the rear coil. As for the kickstand, all old Hondas suffer from the 'over leaning' lol. I think that extending the kickstand length is the only remedy!
whats the hoover your using? :D

I’ve wanted either a Hydrostream or Glastron-Carlson since the early/mid 70s.
Loving the rebuild! Did you ever film part 3?:)
Thanks for comment! Unfortunately I ended up selling the bike.. But it was to a friend of mine who has since completed the bike!! I will do a follow up video soon :)
Great vid Mike and co .. hopefully see you guys this summer some time
How nice looks fun
That's sweet man I got a sidewinder with 200hp mercury. She boogies. I can't wait to go back to the shuswaps. Maybe I'll see you guys there and make some new friends! Nice boats!
I bet that thing rips!! Will try to hit up Shushwap more often for sure!
Outstanding OMC v6 love boyz! From NZ. Have mint 1979 235. Screems like yours. Awesome compression and serviced it for 42 years!! How do you know if it has the good head?- was the early ones the good heads? Nick - new zealand
they only used those heads for a year or 2. same ones as on my 83' 2.6XP!
Gotta be a 90MPH+ boat with a 235HP on er.
Only got 70 out of her unfortunately :( The Johnson does not like revs. She blew up on us.. A Mercury 2.5l would have been a better motor for that..
@@adrenalinok9224 because it overheated from lack of water pressure? needs a low water pickup as you know! 93 octane only with those heads and no more than 26 degrees of timing
That old 235 is crank rated so 90 out of the question unless major mods were made. The OMC’s were good motors but didn’t like high RPM.
@@melrose9252 we got 86 on gps out of one with like 1200 hours on it. probably had 15% leakdown. made a racket at idle. the 2.6XP would push it to mid 90's at 6100 rpm with a 30'' worked SRX
This great boat screams for a full restoration and a ProMax
It’s awesome to see older boats brought back to life. We restored a 1984 Renken Bow Rider with the OMC Seadrive. Enjoy it every chance we get.
Hi! I recently bought an 88’ toyota pickup and it has a lowering kit on it. I was wondering what i would need to reverse the work done to it and remove the lowering kit. Any ideas? I don’t believe it’s a bell tech kit but it does have the lowering blocks on the rear. I know I’ll need shorter U bolts but was wondering if i would need anything else to remove the kit. TIA
The rear axle will be simple for sure! But on the front, it really depends on whether drop spindles have been installed or not.. If so, you will have to purchase new spindles. The easy way to determine the spindles is to see if they are one piece(aftermarket) or two piece(stock). Hope this helps!!
you got a link to the full kit?

It's never a good idea to make a prop shaft thinner, drill the prop Hub ,that's what everyone has bin doing since 1979 .also the merc 200 hp with 14 x28" chopper and a 10" set back 105 m.p.h
just picked up an 83' 2.6xp. blocks at the machine shop unfortunately needs 6x sleeves cant wait to see the bill haha. totally worth it.
