An Unsponsored DJI Osmo Pocket 3 Review – The One Change Everyone Should Make

I took the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 to CES, and I may never take a different camera again. It's not perfect though... it needed a few additions. And whoops, I definitely said "transmitter" everytime I meant "receiver" in this video.

gimbal stabalized cameras are so interesting and fascinating... if i'm correct, this technologie is inspired by chickens...
Great video, I've been wanting to buy a Vector for years but hearing that his servers had shut down had put me off. So this has filled me with new hope. But my question is, if you already have a monthly paid subscription on ChatGPT, do you still have to pay the $10 fee? And if yes, is it a one time payment or a recurring subscription? Thanks.
You still have to pay alas. It’s a separate thing, using the AI. Each query uses a tiny bit of money. But $10 will last a long time.
I don’t have this thing but still watching.
I have a question. How to you get to the “wirepod installer” page almost 8 minutes in where u just drag it to applications. I got no idea how u just pulled out that page. For me it just brings me to downloads. I am on windows btw.
The Windows installer is different than the macOS installer. You'll have to download the exe file and double-click it to run.
So i was wondering if I can connect them to my laptop for work. I need Dual screen and can't install any third party software . Is this possible ?
Dual screen? No. Single mirrored screen? Possibly, but I wouldn't recommend it. Some laptops have the built-in drivers and capabilities to run a monitor over USB-C with DisplayPort mode, and if that's yours... you can plug in and they will start working. Others don't, in which case you need third party software. But even in that first position, the experience you get won't be great. Without Spacewalker, you don't get multi-monitor, you can't adjust refresh rate, you can't adjust.. well much of anything. And I could be remembering wrong, but you can only mirror your display, not extend it. And without Spacewalker, the screen will essentially be "strapped to your head," so as you look left and right the screen will follow you around.
@anoraker i appreciate you are taking the time to get back to me with such a detailed explanation
I was gifted this camera and it is shockingly poorly designed. The lack of night vision makes it practically useless. The way it has to move itself to follow someone’s movement is creepy. I always feel like someone is watching me and knowing how easy this is to hack into, maybe they are 😂 I’d say this is a very accurate review.
It was all over the place for a while! And just as suddenly... disappeared. Which I think says something when you think about it.
so awesome this project... have made it on the big 7.3" version of the display... i need to redesign the case to fit for my display but this shouldn't be the problem... i also did a pull request to the project because in my opinion the visibility of the small album cover if it is enabled is to bad in some cases so i added an optional background blur. this also helps for contrast with the font and the small album cover... i attached 2 demonstration images in my pull request... i hope you like it and i would appreciate if you would accept the pull request
That's a fantastic addition. I turned off the small artwork by default because I didn't like how it turned out. This is MUCH better. Merged!
@@anoraker thank you very much for this compliment
Spotify is in know of the modding scene and fully supportive that is why the posted the open source code themselves on GitHub, idk why this guy even brought up them not allowing this.
I like it
Why is it so complicated to get wire-pod on my mac? My operating system is macOS Monterey 12.7.2 do you have any suggestions that will help me pleeeeease???
Hi there! Check out my other video on the subject, I actually walk through installing on the Mac: ruclips.net/video/aWmPzsmMXzM/видео.html And I have a discord where I try to help people with this as well.
already signed up to get more news and order when its out :)
Me too! So exciting!
Can you use the Pine-Sol to clean floors?
Hah!
Hi your video is very helpful, thanks ! We used the same Li Time batteries and did exactly the same thing like in your video, but we didn't do the wires for the key, it worked fine. yesterday the mower was fully charged using the smart lifepo4 charger, and today it was dead. we need to charge again. Do you have any idea where goes wrong? thanks.
fully charged reading 55v
after some testing today, we figured that when we switch on, the battery clicks and down to 7V then later 3-4V, plug in the charger to reactivate the batteries, it comes back at 55-56v. do you know what causing the batteries stop working after switch on ? thanks
update: it can only turn on when the charger is plugged in. if it is not plugged in for a while, the batteries are measured 3V, we need to plug in the charger again to turn it on, sometimes the charger won't work, we have to unplug the big connector for the batteries under the seat and reconnect, then the batteries will be back again. Why is that ? thanks
I am definetly getting this. Lenovo finally put the features that were missing in older models, like - more screen brigtness -slighty more battery -120hz in both screen and more important - a new backlight keyboard
They need to make an 7m or 8m version for most that use it for gaming set ups
Danke!
Thanks for this manual very very much. I already did some installations with esps and a small lilygo b/w displays to show me at least some infos about song name and interpret. But this is way better. Do you know, if there is way to show something else, like a slide show, calendar or whether (only one of those), when Spotify is not in use or standby? For someone who is more into coding, this shouldn’t be to hard. This would be fantastic❤
A slide show should certainly be possible. Right now the code basically loads a static image when Spotify isn't in use. So the code could theoretically be changed to occasionally cycle through images instead. A calendar would require more work, as you'd need to add additional code to fetch calendar events and convert it into something to display. The same goes for weather... plus you'd need to involve an api like openweather, and create some graphics to load based on weather results. And of course with e-ink displays, you wouldn't want a constant change of display as they can be slow to refresh (especially the color e-ink screen mine uses). Still, an interesting idea... hrm.
@To choose another image in standby mode, only the „default.jpg“ has to be replaced? That’s a start. I ordered a display in the UK this morning because I can’t find it anywhere in Germany. Can’t wait to start. Thanks
@ yep, that’s all you really need to do!
Thanks for the video and the further 1:1 follow up. Cheers!
I received mine, used the app to custom my needs and this toothbrush is perfect, simply amazing !
The new version they released after this is better yes.
The car thing was a disgusting rugpull of a scam, bricking a $90 device just because it wasn't doing well is a disgusting, anti consumer thing to do
Does it have some sort of api?
Does the original software for Vector have an API? Not really. But the WirePod solution I've linked is on github, and could even be modified in theory should you so desire.
In the process now. The longest/most difficult part for me was getting the Car Thing to boot into the blank screen/USB mode. I was initially trying with a USB-A to USB-C cable with an adapter to take the USB-A back to USB-C to plug it into my Mac. It seems the adapter was causing issues somehow. Found a USBC to C cable and got it to boot properly within a couple tries. Flash just completed! Thank you thank you thank you.
Ah yeah, I should have mentioned in the video that Car Thing can be finicky and works best during flashing process with a direct connection. Adapters and hubs can cause weirdness. Funnily enough, once you get it all set up, I bet the adapter solution will work just fine.
@@anoraker No worries, this just seems to be a very finicky process. Now that I have it flashed, I get the ThingLabs screen on boot, then it switches back to Spotify's. Tried the latest version: 8.9.2, the norndis version and then went and tried the original 8.4.4 version, no luck. Any ideas?
Once flashed to 8.9.2, you'll then want to add DeskThing or GlanceThing. The ThingLabs firmware doesn't get rid of the Spotify stuff, just makes it possible to put stuff overtop of it.
@anoraker Thank you! Somehow that simple fact escaped me. Hope this helps others too.
After setting up Vector with the weather api, verifying, and putting in the key he doesn't respond when I ask him what's the weather. He acts like hes thinking before giving up. The log says No location parsed from speech Looking for forecast 0 hours from now Weather API enabled Weather units set to F Bot (a series of numbers) Intent Sent: map[condition: is_forecast:false local_datetime: speakable_location_string: temperature:0 temperature_unit:F] Bot (series of numbers) request served.
Have you gone into Wirepod interface and set location? it may be easier to join my discord and provide screenshots and such.
Can’t you technically just light up the charcoal without connecting it to an outlet ? For a quick grill ?
Theoretically sure. It wouldn’t be very efficient since the charcoal is off the side. The fan feeds the flame and blows the hot air under the food.
Can the main website determine what firmware version is on the "Car Thing"? Found a tossed out Car Thing in an e-waste dumpster. Not sure if it works! So additional uses for the now no longer supported device are being developed? 🤔 My approach would be via Windows. Thank you 🤓
If you mean Terbium, it doesn't really tell you that, no. But it doesn't truly matter, as you can just upload whatever firmware you want at that point. Spotify bricked all attempts to get the Car Thing back to its original working state (including the unbrick mod I mentioned in this video). But modifying it for other things, like DeskThing and GlanceThing, still works. My guide for those should work just fine on Windows, short of file explorer looking different than finder.
I just got some and I got two boxes of govee light ropes but how do I connect than both together to be one?
Closest thing you can do is Dreamview
After using the wirepad, vector doesn't seem to listen to me? The command keeps saying "Hey vector"?
Try switching the style of English in his settings. Oddly some people have better luck when in other English locals.
You need some key lights
Working on it.

There is no way those small panels will drive a car.
They get about 40 miles of driving a day on good sunny light. And for when that isn’t enough you can plug in
No way? You ain't been paying attention.
it looks like a bmw screen
lilbit, yeah
Omg thanks bro
You're welcome!
The irony of Car Thing is that I'd literally never heard of it before Spotify announced the impending doom. The sad part is that I'd been looking for something like this for ages. And then when I find it... It's dying. I'd love to snatch three, to be precise. One for each car, and one for our desk. They're just not that common in the UK, it seems.
Still having my Cozmo somewhere. Liked the idea, had fun with it. It is a great little buddy robot for the desk : ) And cute!

If you can't disassembled it its not Thinkpad
It's way more than an around towner with its solid comfort, stability, safety, efficiency, and long range performance. It's still being dialed in but check out some of the test drive vids.
I setup deskthing on my mac to configure the spotify car thing. If I want to plug the car thing into another computer, a pc, does the configuration stick? I noticed it's showing a red "Reconnecting" on the top right of the device. I don't have deskthing installed on my pc.
Deskthing requires pc/mac software to run, that’s where it gets all its data from. Much like the car thing reaching out to the Spotify app on the phone. So you’ll need to install it on the PC as well.
This is perfect as the second vehicle in a two car family. Perfect for commuting or 2 people. HUGE trunk. Never have to charge. Pretty amazing.
Agree 100%.
Investor and reservation holder here. Fits my use-case perfectly. Retired, live in a very rural area. Nearest fast charger is over 30 minutes away, so being able to use a standard 120V wall outlet to get 150 miles of range overnight beats every other EV out there.
That does sound perfect for your needs. I'm honestly pretty excited for the Aptera.
My wife has her SUV and I drive alone to work so no need for 3 rows or massive HP, I just want something that get me from point A to point B as efficient as possible and Aptera looks like just the vehicle for me!
Yeah, the Aptera does seem perfect for the daily work commute. It's gonna be a game changer.
Long time reservation holder and investor here.... Aptera will not only be our daily driver, it will be our only vehicle, once we take delivery!! We are in south/central Wisconsin, so it will see real winter also.
Will be interested to see how well it does in Winter!
@@anoraker Being front wheel drive and light weight, we expect it will do very well, but real-world testing will tell all.
@@anoraker It will do fine in winter. As for snow, on plowed roads, tires are one of the biggest factors. As with any car, get snow tires if you live in an area that gets a lot of snow.
Thanks for covering. Aptera finally is a vehicle like all should be build: lightweight, aerodynamic, convenient and affordable.
Thank you for the breakdown of the structure of this P14s. Its a tank, and repairable. Bought it to move away from my unstable Yoga 7 series.
