A mystery.
And than the ideal ego of giovanni is shattered As freud would say
Superbo
Furtwangler of course is phenomenal🤩. But the singers though🤯. Thank you for posting!
Tears coming from my eyes for this great performance. Gives me chills.
Nice tempo!👍
😊❤ Bravissimo e bellissimo 🎉
Brividi
sounds throaty, also bad acting i see there.. prefer rodney gilfry on this act
Oh my goodness glorious voice. Beautiful, legato, endearing, full, beautiful execution of the high pitch.
What a pity this old recording didn't benefit from today's technology. Such a powerful rendition
06:03 Siepi's scream is real super fucking sexy and his "oime" sounds really cold.
Cesare Siepi In don giovanni davvero insuperabile una voce che fa tremare i muri
Furtwangler always did the best stuff
I never got a chance to see this Opera in a theater, but now I can check out many versions and singers. I really love seeing the different ways it's interpreted. I've seen only a few Operas in my life but Mozart's are the best.
5:52 the moment he knows he's fucked

I know ‘Amadeus’ was a work of fiction but I like the idea that the Commendatore was Mozart subconsciously resurrecting his dead father 🙂
When I was in school, first learning about operatic singing, my teacher said that this kind of bass parts, like the Commendatore in Don Giovanni or the Hermit in Der Freischütz are that of a moral authority. Leopold Mozart was, by all accounts, a man of strong morals. He reminded his son not to forget about his Sunday obligation. (An obligation I have been ignoring for about 10 years -- I am a lapsed Catholic.) In the movie, part of the conflict between Wolfgang and Leopold Mozart is that Wolfgang cannot live up to his father's standards, not because he's a bad person, but simply because he is like that. Now, Amadeus is fiction, everybody knows that, but Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart liked vulgar jokes in real life as well (as did many upperclass people in Vienna at that time) and had some kind of obnoxious laughter. It has been described as a mix of a donkey's braying and glass shattering. A good inspiration for a fictional movie about a rock star composer.
Don’t think we didn’t see this 👀 1:03
I am not afraid of that voice.....unlike this one by Georgio Tadeo ruclips.net/video/_lf-lu0yfBU/видео.html Hearing his warning makes me reconsider my ways.....
This is how every Commendatore scene should sound. Slowly building up to the big climax.
A lackluster Don Giovanni and Commendatore. The standout performance here is the man playing Leporello. If I want to hear every musical note and believable character deliveries - I refer to the highlights with Pinza and Ponselle and the latter Pinza recording from 1942 with Charles Kullmann. Those are the best Don Giovanni recordings on record yet.
Grossartige gesangliche Leistung

Perfect ! Furtwangler s tempo...the orchestra.........simply the best
Evviva Siepi, evviva Furtwangler, EVVIVA MOZART
"Senza alcun ordine la danza sia!" Geniale
Im generally a fan of Furtwänglers Tempi and I really dont like the literally rushed Don Giovannis, but I think this is objectively too slow! It`s just a thin line between bringing a higher "resolution" with a slower Tempo and losing the structure and phrasing with a Tempo too slow. He crossed the line here !
This is really slow by today's standards ... but as a composer I like how I can distinguish every note in every instrument, and thus HOW Mozart created this rich tapestry of drama... an expected treat on top of the splendid acting and singing!
There is no splendid vocal acting here.
@@EmilyGloeggler7984what Are you talking about idiot. This is legendary. One of the best don Giovannis EVER
@@EmilyGloeggler7984as if you sing better😂😂😂
Siepi did a great job as Giovanni. It was slowed a bit from how I normally hear it but it works. I think his acting was great because it wasn't too subtle or static and wasn't super over the top. Glad I found this.
DIEU🌿✝️🌿 ACCUEILLEZ DANS VOTRE PARADIS💞💛💞 L'ÂME DU GRANDISSIME CESARE SIEPI!!!💛💞🌿💐✝️💐🌿💞💛🦁🧖🐇🇻🇦🇲🇬🇻🇦💛💞
Ön is "szerelmes" ebbe az operába? Budapest, 2021.09.04.MÜPA!!!
GRANDE SIEPI !!
Merci pour cette version.
The singing of Dezsö Ernster is so awful that I didn’t get past the 1:45 mark. From the first phrase I thought there was something drastically wrong with his technique. While this excerpt has undeniable historical interest, I wouldn’t go too far beyond that.
Unerreichbar, super!
A gem of a performance. All three characters are performed with great authority, Furtwangler's sublime conducting adds to the tension of the scenes. Thanks for loading.
“Sublime conducting,” with a tempo twice as slow as was conducted then or now?? I don’t know if it’s the conductor’s tempo or if the film has been slowed down, but it’s horrible, whichever way is the truth.
Fabulous voices but much too slow
Bravissimo
This has to be slowed down from the original. The only other possible explanation would be: Furtwängler was very mad at his wife, and wanted not to get home until after she had gone to sleep.
I've heard numerous performances where the conductor goes so fast that the singer is finally reduced to shouting the words breathlessly instead of singing them. I prefer this.
*D I V I N O* ! 💘
