WHY Did I Even Try This LATE Photography HIKE? (Long Exposure Struggles)
Long shutter speeds and a waterfall is a great combination for a photography hike, in a canyon in Belgium. In this video, I set out on a photography hike, but things didn't go as planned. I got a late start and ended up racing against the setting sun, losing light fast. Despite the challenge, I managed to capture a few long exposure shots of a waterfall and flowing water. landscape and cityscape photography in the early morning. Waking up at 3AM isn't super easy, but it's worth it. I like combining the city lights with natural light, it gives me a special vibe to see that in one photo. it's been a while that I used my 50mm lens, because most of the time I'm using my Tamron 70-300mm. I used a FLASH for my landscape PHOTOGRAPHY! STUPID Idea?

You will be surprised what a change it makes in your landscape photography, if you use flash in it. I was surprised with the result, specially with the last photo! Capture Jaw-Dropping Winter Shots with My Nikon D7200
✌...
Hey 😁
Just shot some birds last night, maybe the light was too low but I’m not a fan of Auto ISO in shutter priority mode. It can take amazing photos but you gotta get the settings right.
I always take my photos in manual settings. Because I want to have full control.
I'm very new to photography! I was thinking of buying this lens and I have a Fujifilm camera, it'll just work fine if I use an adapter right?? Because I can't seem to find a cheap wide angle lens that is this good, or maybe you have other recommendations??
I don’t have experience with using an adapter. Are you sure the autofocus and aperture will work?
@@JorisVanDeuneghem ohh I don't really mind the autofocus haha because I always just use the manual focus, and changing the aperture can be done manually too right?
@loti4343 on this lens you can’t adjust the aperture manually, only the zoom and focus.
@@JorisVanDeuneghem ohh noo well ty for the information!
@loti4343 no problem, glad I could help a bit 😊
Is there anything bad about this lens?
Nope this is a great lens. My lens did its time, I need a new one 😅 but I loved this lens. It’s great for landscape photography, not really for sports, because I think it’s too slow for that.
@@JorisVanDeuneghem ty! I was just sceptical because it's so cheap now! Haha so I was worried if it was bad, glad it wasn't though
@asadasss263 it’s so cheap because every brand is switching to the mirrorless cameras and want to get rid of the older lenses.
Heeey Yoris, great video. Maybe sometimes you want to join me in Ardennes, I think would be cool to share knowledge and for the forst time I wouldn't do videos alone.
Coo video👍
Thanks for watching 😊
Very nice!
Thank you for watching my friend

Yes very nice

Good work Joris. Interesting take in landscape photography.
Thanks 😊 it’s something different and fun to try
Really so nice video ,love it so much
Thank you for watching 😊
Great work, I learnt a lot from this video. Really nice shots.
Thank you for watching. That’s super cool to read, that you learnt something from my video 😄
Even with all those people, you continue! Top :D
Yes. First I was like, I want to go away. But after the first 2 photos I got used to the people around me. 😄
Oh no! Not other humans, thats not fun😅
Those basterds 😂
Prachtig Joris

haha weimei :D Glad to see you back in the ardennes! We also just returned from Waimes last weekend with the family.
😂 totally relate with having to rush for something deep into the mountains and ending up with crunch time before getting dark. Hope you’ll return to show us the main plan you had that didn’t manage to proceed next time. That’s a cool waterfall though!
Yes who knows maybe I will go shoot there again. It’s a nice place. It was to hot too be rushing, you can see it in the video 😂 my face was so wet
Run Joris, Run!
On the way back I did 😂 it was getting to dark in the mountains and I was all alone
Prachtig en bedankt voor de uitleg
Dank je wel Ludo. 😄 merci om te kijken
Cool shots! Cheers from Leuven.
perfect
Thank you 😊 thanks for watching
Instead of Tamron 100-400 I'd go with Nikon AFP 70-300 full frame lens, which is lighter, compact, cheaper and sharper, you can crop it to 400mm equivalent of Tamron and it's still sharper.
It’s 100€ cheaper so personally im gonna go for the Tamron. It also looks better 😂 but I understand your opinion and it’s not bad. I don’t know if it’s sharper, because I haven’t seen a comparison.
@@JorisVanDeuneghem you can see sharpness comparison of both lenses on PhotographyLife website
Great great artwork Joris, for me these pics are amazing
Great images! Worth the risk 🐝

Awesome work
Thank you Mark. Thanks for watching.
Another great video Joris with very useful tips and explanation on how exposure bracketing can give you natural looking HDR pics.
Thank you for watching again. I’m happy to hear that it was useful 😁.
Bedankt voor de tips en de video
Dank je wel. Waren ze wat interessants?
The first shot at 6:47 was a good one! Loved the balance in the 8:20 too. Great tips, it's cool to see that you manually blend exposures. Though is GND still necessary when you can already bracket the image?
Thanks buddy. I don’t think a gnd is necessary, because I don’t have them 😂 I also blend everything in post. They say it’s less work in post if you use a gnd, but I don’t want to spend the money on gnd filters if I can blend it 😂
Such a pro at all times
I wish 😂 you don’t know how much I have to cut
What do you think of the 70-300 as an entry level tele lens?
Iets a good les for landscape photography and also for other niches. Don’t use it for sports, because it’s a bit to slow for it. The stabilizer also works great.
Bedankt Joris
Jij ook bedankt Ludo. 😊
Superman! Hope you get some rest and enjoy the family holiday. Nice compositions with the castle 🏰
Already back at work. It was just a 5day holiday vacation. Not enough to get some rest 😅
My favourite is the tree line image with the underlit clouds. Very nice 👍
Thanks for watching Andy 😁 this shoot weren’t the best photos, but it was an interesting shoot.
Nice work !
Thank you for watching 😁
Quite impressed you can edit the holiday videos quickly 😂 time blending is something I haven’t done as much, but you do it really well buddy. Waking up 3am is definitely not for me 😅 but i never regret when Im already out. Great shoot dude, the reflections are what made me like the first composition (too bad the positioning of light was different from what Photopills showed). The 2nd and 3rd shots showed some good layers.
Not super quick, because I’m already home for 2 weeks 😅 I think the composition can improve a lot, but it’s just i didn’t have enough time to look around for it. Thank for watching 😁
Prachtig Joris
Dude, those are some amazing photos. You know I’ve already enjoyed your BTS on IG 😂 Good to see you’re able to go on a trip and hope the family had fun 😁 such a magical morning. Life can be so good indeed.
Thanks for that compliment. Sometimes a change of environment can open up our creativity and I really had great time. I also didn’t really had a plan to shoot so my mine was open for new things. Yes the family had fun, it was just 5 days so it was a bit short, but fun.
Good to see you back Joris. Cracking video. Great pics. I also shoot the D7200. Great camera. all the best and hope you and the family had a great holiday.
Thanks John. We had a great time 😁. Thanks for watching. It’s a great camera
Great to see you out in nature! Always enjoy your shots. Love the wooden cottage
Thanks buddy. It wasn’t easy to wake up that early on holidays with my family 😂 it takes a lot of dedication to say I’m going early to bed instead of drinking together.
I upgraded from D3200 to D7200 back in 2019 but do you not think the camera is a massive brick lol? I a battery grip and Sigma 17-50mm attached and it looks like a weapon!! I shoot street photography and its slow to back button focus, and because of how massive it is, people are deterred by it. I will soon move to Fuji X-E4 or similar sizes camera.
I also have a battery grip, but I took it off because it was indeed too big of a camera. I don’t use the back focus button, because I only use my camera for landscape photography. Is the Fuji x-E4 also a apsc sensor?
I own this camera since 2016. If you do only photography, this camera is adequate for more than 99% of photographers. Some influencers exaggerate the need for latest gear and make consumers to change gear perpetually.
This camera is indeed for most photographers. I was just looking a round for a telelens and it feels like it’s almost done with F mount lenses. It’s going quick now to change to the mirrorless cameras. I just need a new telelens and I’m good for a few more years, before my Nikon dies on me 😅
@@JorisVanDeuneghem I use the nikon 200-500 f5.6 with this camera. More than enough for me to take handheld shots of birds and the moon.
Great to see you back dude! This was definitely an interesting video, never seen one like it for landscape. I’ve never used flash too so learned a lot about the setup and considerations you made 😁 it can be quite scary indeed to get right back out of a long break, but you did great man.
Ya it was a fun experimentation and maybe I will do it again. It’s cool to learn to work with a flash, because you learn to look at light a bit differently. Yes it was scary, but once I was out there it felt really great. Looking back at the video I saw I was a bit rusty. I should’ve given more info why I was using the flash on certain parts of the trees.
Weer wat bijgeleerd. Bedankt Joris
Its been a while, sure but back with a bang! The approach to landscape is so unique 📸
Yes dude it’s been a while. I liked the last photo the most.
