I love the hell yeah element in video games, but I'd also like a compelling FINISHED game that's not just 3 missions repeated hundreds of times. Also Kojima's awful excuse about Quiet, in order to appeal to gooners is a major no no. It's a love-hate relationship with this game for me. Definitely nothing anywhere near perfect lmao. There's something called recency bias, my dude, that you should maybe give a thought.

It was around this time 9 years ago when i'd be at the local grocery shops, and Take on Me by A-Ha would come on the store radio and I'd get an overwhelming urge to shoot people 🤣 Also I live in a pretty industrial area so I'd often see a lot of shipping and materials containers I just wanted to tie a balloon too. There have been so many great little epic moments playing this game. My housemate watched me play some last week and he was amazed by the enemy ai when I shot out a spot light in the darkness of Kiziba camp and I narrowly avoided a hail of shotgun fire from a tactically formed squad of heavy armored soldiers. It's little things like this that make this game so good every time I play it.

I think it's easy to dismiss the wackiness of a game like this, but it wouldn't have the impact it has if it wasn't also so scrupulously, almost drably realistic. The contrast between the stark setting and bleak landscapes with the madness of anime posters, new wave hits, 80s mullets, and general Kojima fuckery is what makes the game so sublime.

8:35 as a ukrainian, it is so fun to hear russian in game. you can even hear if the person is native speaker or not. also some dialogues between npcs are fucking horrific, considering that you will kill these guys. that won't be the same if i just read the subtitles. the fact that I hear that the guy really wants to come back home to meet his wife and daughter, makes me feel very bad for him, tho hes just a npc
