"No Choice" - A Marji Gesick Music Video
I spent the two months between Crusher and Marji Gesick creating music for Marji - to use in my race video, put myself in the #finisher headspace, and maybe inspire others. "No Choice" was written as a tribute, sharing what the race is and its significance to the community.

Quick question, first loved the video, second I'm #Freshmeat, father of four, what was your experience with the structured training plan? I'm hesitant because I can't guarantee I can get 10+ hours of riding in while balancing being a dad, a husband, and provider.
I totally bailed on the structured plan within the first month for a few reasons, but it wasn't because of the plan. You can adjust the default schedule to fit your own life. But I absolutely despise structured workouts. Don't work with my mentality. That being said, I did benefit from it and I'm glad I gave it a shot. Even having the prescribed workouts for when you *can* get to them is helpful. What I settled on was a mentality on "progress, not perfection." Ride when I can. Workout when I can. Run when I can. Instead of structured intervals, go on a ride and give it the beans on every Strava segment. Personally, I average about 30 hours/month of activity, but that can swing wildly week to week. And remember that training will make you faster, but a big part of Marji is mental. Stay positive. Keep moving. Be comfortable with your gear, both riding and pushing. And be comfortable being uncomfortable.

😂 I mean, pretty sure I wasn't reading the charts right, looking back at it. They're pretty simple look-up tables: mileage on the left, average speed up top, cross-reference to find what the predicted time at a certain point. Not perfect, since your speed changes significantly segment to segment, but definitely helped with planning. The color gradient makes them look way fancier than they actually are. The music is all made with Suno.com. I made a few public access (suno.com/@wild_giant), but plan to turn a few into music videos here in the coming weeks.

Likewise! Yes - I used Suno.com. Can be as simple as 200 character prompt (music genre, topic, etc.) or with the custom toggle, you can enter your own lyrics and then prompt the genre/style. Yeah! The Snowdog (groomer) is basically a snowmobile track (no skis) with an operator sled that applies the corduroy pattern.
