BMW 1M Clone Build Video (135i to 1m clone conversion)
Overview of building a BMW 1M Clone, starting with a 6mt, n55 135i. This is by no means a guide on the "best" or "right" way to do things, but I wanted to share the process. Please leave any questions about the build process below and I'll do my best to answer them. Hope you enjoy!

BMW 135i Carbon Fiber Trim DIY (carbon fiber lamination over wood trim)
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.2 года назад
Today we’re turning boring wood trim into carbon fiber trim! I would recommend using a clear resin and spraying the finished trim with a uv clear coat to avoid yellowing from sun exposure. If you’ve got any questions feel free to leave them down below, I’ll do my best to answer them. Good luck with your trim!

BMW 135i M Performance Alcantara Shift Boot Installation video

Here's a quick tutorial on how to swap out your bmw e8x shift boot. Let me know what else you'd like to see! Cheers
I like that you're just chillin' and trying stuff out and working hard and hoping for the best. You don't have to be a mega-pro to produce great content.
Amazing car great vid, the only thing i would clone is weed , anything else should stay as it is and enjoy it. Great cars so much fun, i have the n54 135i 470bhp oem vargas turbos and full upgrades and maintenance. 6k in so far all in one go engine bits. Get it back end of the month cant wait
That towel catching fire lmao. Would love to do this same conversion, looks great.
Which rx motor are you attaching to your Miata trans
Im sure the care said 128i dude whats up.
Nice work 👏 👌 👍
Hey man, did you use genuine bmw 1m bumpers ? I have seen a kit but I want genuine I think with after market rear arch. Do you know if 1m bumpers fit straight onto a 135i?
1m bumpers do not fit a 135i without this modification. They make narrow body (135i compatible) 1m style bumpers. Hope this helps
@@GrahamsGarage thank you mate, I’ve also found what I need for genuine to fit and the list is pretty hefty 😂 will be a long old process
awesome video
Thank you!
Respect for calling what it is on the plate
nice build, your video transitions show how much work you did in edit. nice. criticism = get some shoes
welding in the slippers I relate to that
what'd you use to get the windshield washers to stick haha
They have a locking tab that snaps into place!
trying to do the same swap on an NB miata. already have a 13b mockup motor, FC bell housing and miata transmission. Hope i wont have to space out the subframe.
Really nicely done! Did you do any research on changing the differential to a limited slip? I think only the 1M has that and the 135is and 135i don't sadly.
A limited slip is definitely on my wish list! Glad you liked the video
Loved the license plate
Thanks!!
Does the front bumper have to be a 1m bumper to match the 1m fenders? Where did purchase the rear fender flairs? thanks for making the video. I admire that you take on the conversion project. That's a big job!
Yes it does! I think someone is making 1m style fenders that fit a 135i front bumper if you’re going that route. Rear flares came from na_papi_ on instagram. Thank you for the kind words, it was a long but rewarding project!
subscribing because i need more e82 content. so make more cuh
I’ll get on it, anything you’d like to see?
are these oem panels? how much did the parts cost? obv not the rear quarters
Yes, all oem minus the rear. Just counting the oem body panels, I think it was something like 4-5k. Add about 1.5k for oem exhaust conversion. Just a heads up, prices have gone up a bit!
bravo you have talent, I have a 135i conversion 1m but I miss changing the front fenders, I will ask you for advice when I change them if possible
Front fenders bolt on, but you'll need the 1m fender liners (same as m3). Feel free to comment with questions anytime!
You made it look too easy. Lol. Did you replace or reshape the EVAP lines for the exhaust? What about the battery and cables? What did you do for those?
I trimmed the white evap line that runs to the engine bay but the rest were 1m evap lines. Had to drop the fuel tank some. Battery cables were 1m but in retrospect, 135i cables would've probably worked. IBIS 1m battery cables are expensive! Thanks for the comment Chris!
@@GrahamsGarage I modified my 135i evap lines with heat and shortening for now. I'll prob swap for 1M proper lines eventually. I was looking at other bmw vehicles for the positive cabling and thinking of extending the ground cable by splicing. For now, the battery cables are stretched a bit. Everything else (minus the flares) was mostly plug-and-play. I'm also curious about the interior swap you did. The video was a little vague on what you swapped and why.
Some real good content in here - you should add commentary over the top so everyone knows exactly whats happening - as well as show more before/after. The end result needs a full walk around showing the final result. Keep it up though!
Great feedback, I might trim it down & add the commentary. Thank you Elliott!
What wheel specs and tires are you running?
E9x m3 comp/1m wheels with 255/35/19 & 275/35/19 pilot sport 4s. The fronts rub on fender liners, I’d stick with stock size in the future or run 18’s.
@@GrahamsGarage you sure you didn’t mean the rears? First time I read front 359 rub
@@davidgiannini5220 Rears did not rub but I had to trim the fiberglass fenders to make room. Fronts rub on wheel liners
@@GrahamsGarage damn. Thanks for letting me know. How come though? Was under the impression that oem 1m front Fender in 135 with stock hubs would have same offset and clearance as 1M Puzzled
@@davidgiannini5220 The recommended tire size for 359's is 245/265. I went 10mm over size (255/275) and that caused the issue.
Bro u gotta wear shoes when repairing cars, imagine something fall down and crush your toes, happened to my dad he while he was wearing slippers
Steel toes >
Where did you get those rear fenders ?
Send a dm to na_papi_ on instagram!
Let’s goooo Graham!
so fire
Great stuff!!
Love your energy and enthusiasm for the Miata and your build. Keep up the good work, can't wait to see how the build progresses! Subbed!
Also with the lack of videos on RUclips on 13b builds its going to be really helpful to see somebody explain it throughout the process!
This is my absolute dream engine, please please pleaaaaase keep your videos coming out as soon as you can! This is awesome!
Been wanting to do a 13b swap miata build for years !!!! Im looking forward to watching your build 🤙
135i? 2:10
I ran a 128i badge for a bit as a joke, car is an n55 135i but debadged now :)
@@GrahamsGarage got my ass for sure lmao
Nice build, you should do a colour wrap to make it stand out a little bit more, upgrade the side mirrors, get some downpipes, and a tune.
I will be doing all of these things next, just not sure when. I took on a miata project so bmw funds are limited at the moment. Ty for the suggestion, these items will “finish it off” for sure!
This is awesome - I've been dying for a real carbon replacement trim but you can only find stickers or one really expensive option - I may consider this and let you know how you go. I'd also be keen on seeing more of the 1M build - i've given you a follow! If you need any advice on the performance side - i've already gone down that route
Thanks for the comment! For performance I was just thinking dp, ic, mhd. Not looking for much else besides bolt ons but I’m curious to hear your recommendation!
@@GrahamsGarage yeah I have a video on installing the intercooler and charge pipe/BOV. Highly recommend the intercooler as that’s when your tune really steps up
@@ElliottBrooks Next on the list! Thank you
Great info
His cars a 128i lol
Underbadge my friend. Car is now debadged and looks a lot better. I almost regret not buying a 128i because the n52 has top end while the n55 falls off at higher rpm. Not as exciting, more of a “sledgehammer”.
By the time you add all the work done to it and cost, why not just purchase a real 1M? 🤷🏽♂️ it appears to be a fun project but instead I would’ve invested in the real thing but everyone is different. Congrats looks extremely nice love the 1M series, but for now all I can afford is a 135 😉
I think you said it yourself, I can only afford a 135i too 😂
A real 1M is like 2-3x the price of a 135i + conversion. And then you'd be scared to drive it, whereas you can drive the hell out of this thing and no worry at all. PLUS you can mod the engine of the 135i and make it faster than a 1M, if you want. This is a way more fun approach. 1M is more like a collector's car now.
Sorry dude but I was wondering why your rear vendors look like ass. I was interested in seeing an overview of a 1m clone project as the headline would suggest. New headline should be "BMW (half assed) 1M Clone Project Overview (135i Widebody & Interior)" you saved $1000 so you can get people lying to your face telling you that shit looks legit out of pitty. Unless you got a homie that tells you how ass it looks every time you pull up, I might be your only real friend, that sucks. xD
Tbh didnt wanna mess with spot welds, my main goal was making room for 275’s
How much was everything in total?
Nice love your car man !!! I have a 128i convertible I too want to convert mine into a 1m as well. I was wondering if you can make a in deepth video on the exhaust and how that was done. Looking forward see your content new sub
I dont have much footage of install but I can explain it. Would you be interested in that?
why does yours not have the screen on the dash. i want one without the screen so i can put an updated screen to look like the new models
I swapped the nav dash for no nav dash. Had to find one used, I prefer the simple, clean look
I love the seats. whats the link to buy?
There's a few places to buy them from, but google recaro pro racer rms. Just a heads up, they are a bit small and rough for long drives. Great track seat though!
Legit Build and legit vid Graham! I see people giving you shit about the rear fender yea it isn’t perfect but you did it yourself that makes it even better I’m sure you learned a few things that you would do differently. So Kudos to you Bro 🤜🏿🤛🏼! I just recently purchased a 135 and I’m looking to tackle this same conversion. I’ve been searching the old forums and internet for at least a month now how do I get a hold of Jay meadows?
Send a dm to na_papi_ on instagram for the flares. Thank you for the kind words, means a lot! Send a dm on ig @grahams_garage or send another comment if you have any questions about the conversion, I should be able to answer them. Good luck with the build!
😕 P r o m o S M.
I'm happy with natural channel growth
I'm planning on doing this kit as well. How did you get the wheels to fit with the proper width? Are you using spacers, M3 hubs or what? Or just the 1M wheels and it's good?
I'm running 135i hubs with I think a 20mm spacer. I'd recommend 15mm with stock m3/1m wheels for the front. The rear could use a baby spacer but I'm happy with fitment without one. If you run a square setup, you might be able to get good fitment with rear wheels on the front and no spacer, but I have not tested this. GL with the build!
do you have a link for the rear fenders?
Send a dm to na_papi_ on instagram. He sells them!
looks beautiful great job u save major amounts of money
Thank you!! Yes, better than spending over a grand!
nice
Where do you get the front fenders? And how much do you paid for them?
I got them from getbmwparts.com, for 344 each before tax and shipping
Thank you so much you card looks amazing I’m working on mine too I’m in California as well after I done maybe you can make a video of both do you have Instagram?
Damn. Your that bodyshop did you dirty with all the filler on those rear arches man. That's more than "a bit of a compromise"
I did all the work myself and body filler was the best way to hide the rivets and seams from the rear fender. Everyone's got different opinions on how good "good" is, only a real 1m will have "perfect" flares
@@GrahamsGarage Certain jobs require a skilled hand 👍
@@Chopadontmis I'd love to take it in to a proper body shop but I'd rather spend money on "go fast" parts first. Plus it was fun even if it isnt perfect!
