Beautiful film. I'm not into cycling and didn't know Graeme's story- what a hero. inspiring. It's Infuriating they did that to him and couldn't even be bothered to come up with a reason that made any sense.

I’ve been a pole vaulter my whole life and I just rode into town today on my single speed with a back pack on Its 10 miles there 10 miles back. I did it in 23 minutes there and 25 minute back with a bag full of groceries and I wasn’t really pushing it. Most of the trips I do with a trailer and full of groceries. On the return trip. And I do that in 33 minutes there and 45 minutes back with a huge 100 lbs load. Now I’m curious of how fast can I actually go now with a big gear, and yes if you want to see me do it it’s pretty entertaining with the trailer on haha. I had no idea I was close to the 10mile record. Of 19 minutes this has inspired me

"Anything to win except doping." That's what people want their children to hear about sports. Look at the technology war innovates as a necessity to win; the capitalists pick-up on money making methods for civil society's use (e.g., airplanes, guns, GPS, 5G). Obree's innovations are inspiring. We can always fall back on driving an individual nearly insane with thoughts of having to win. Although I was an ameteur cyclist before Lance Armstrong, I was not a cyclist after Lance's cycling career. No other reason except age and health. I missed this story completely; I thought this was about a spanish rider, and looked up "Obree" as a conjugation of the verb "obrar". GFY 🤣

The UCI president that banned Obree's riding style/bike for BS reasons seems incredibly corrupt if you search his name "Hein Verbruggen". UCI still seems to be totally corrupt. I wouldn't regard them as legitimate in any way.

well i dont know anything about that sport and its rules, but just by common sense i would asume that anybody should be allowed to use whatever position he wants. I cant see the problem with that. Doesnt that just show that the others position is not optimum? Why dont they work on their position then. The rules for material must be 100% on point though. the shape of the bike has to be defined so it leaves no room for any interpretation. Other than that-let people ride with their feet front over if they like to.

It's funny that they complain that anyone who is flexible could beat the hour record but we now have riders like Remco who are "contortionists". Time trialling has become who can produce the most power in a restrictive position whereas a supposedly comfortable "obree" position would even the playing field.
