Tropical Bonsai

Добавлен 1 май 2011
Watch my progress as I experiment with tropical prebonsai. I will document my successes and failures. I am self taught and am not teaching anything just demonstrating what I do.
Ficus Microcarpa the Small Clump. Hard prune

How do you get the trunks to get that thick in a couple of months?
Full Florida sun is all I gave it!
Thank you for sharing
Thanks!
Thank you for sharing, friend. Best wishes always
Thanks!
Paging Dr. Alan Scissorhands to the bonsai ER! Nice save Dr. 😆
Thanks Jay. I'm glad it worked out.
This plant's elegant appearance combined with its health benefits makes Wrightia antidysenterica a must-have for any herbal enthusiast. 🌼🌱. Thanks for sharing
I didn't know it has health benefits?
The combination of Ficus Microcarpa 'Tiger Bark', Wrightia antidysenterica 'Asian Snow', and Jasmine 'Milky Way Snowflake' creates a stunning and diverse botanical collection! Each plant brings unique beauty and benefits. 🌿✨. Thanks for sharing
Thank you!
Thank you for sharing and the tutorial explanation, friend. Best wishes always

Istimewa bonsainya..
Thank you!
🎉🎉🎉
Crazy how fast it is growing. In what climate do you live? You keep it inside or outside? Nice tree!
Thank you! I live in Florida it stays outside all year.
Does it smell like the Florida Stranger Fig?
The fruit? Neither one of them has gotten any yet.
@@TropicalBonsai no the leaves & bark & sap of the Florida strangler fig have a slight scent. I would love to have a Florida strangler fig bonsai, but I'm allergic.
Really nice nerifolia trees... I have to get some more... Its a really nice species to work with.... Great video buddy 🎉🎉
Thank you!
So sorry about your loses and having ti experience that hurricane....but cheers to all your surviving trees🎉🎉🎉
Thanks, most of my trees survived and insurance took care of my house but it definitely set many of the trees back some.
@@TropicalBonsai yeah it would've... But you are here and some of them are here to be nursed back to health by you.... I'm with you on your journey, and I'll learn through your application 🙏🏾
It’s your tree, do what makes you happy… but taking a long term view, a harder road to a premium end, I’d cut every branch (including the top) back hard. It’s a focus, it will rebud very easily. Let those buds grow out and cut back again to two nodes. Doing this will bring everything back in tighter to the trunk and begin to create taper in the branches. Long term, it will build a bonsai like you see in the books. Ultimately it’s about whatever makes you happy. At the moment it’s perhaps a little out of proportion, branches are too thick and long in scale to the trunk. The only other way to keep this design in scale in coming years would be to remove it from a bonsai pot and put it in a grow box to enlarge everything. Just my unsolicited opinion, take it with a grain of salt. I appreciate you’re putting yourself out there! And top marks for tree health!
Yeah I'm just having fun. That's the point of a hobby. I have several microcarpa around this size. I don't want to make them all look the same. ruclips.net/video/lWgx2A-Ddso/видео.html
lots of future potential my friend.
Thank you!
Hi there. Just wondering how many years it took to get the jacaranda to flower? Great video!
This tree is now over 5 years old and it still has not bloomed.
@@TropicalBonsai Interesting. If you had started with an older tree trunk do you think the leaves would appear sooner?
@@EverydayNormalGuy07 I’m sure. Yes
Keep making updates for these please
I did update recently ruclips.net/video/ZVNdVNcFR1M/видео.html
Great job..
Thanks!
It is ground traind ??
I have had this tree since 2018. It has been in a pot since then.
It is ground trained ??
I have had this one for 2 years. At 0:40 is what it looked like then
Ok thanks @@TropicalBonsai

Terimakasih sudah berbagi ilmunya...

How do you keep it from not growing taller. Should I cut leaves as they’re growing?
I think chopping it at the beginning of growing season is the best way.
@@TropicalBonsai okk. Chup it at the top, base or at the middle?
Bonsai yang sangat indah..
Thanks!
Great video, and yes this jasmines perfume is milder than the other jasmine 🎉🎉
And a little more pleasant, I think.
@@TropicalBonsai I find the one you have, the flowers and scent fades fast...but it is a really nice smelling flower....but I like the stronger one 😁
Could this jasmine grow via root cuttings??
I haven't tried. But where my neighbor and I dug out the old stumps there is plenty of sucker growth, so I'm pretty sure they would work.
@@TropicalBonsai Nice!!! I have the water jasmine and I took apart a rootball and propagated some nice plants from it .....
Good joob
Thanks!
It's looking really good!!!
Thank you!
Firstly I love the musical choices, especially the second piece...really groovy 🎉🎉.. that's a mighty fine looking tree you've got there my friend....and some really good ramification 🎉🎉🎉 keep up the great work 🎊

I hope so!

My small one looks healthy, but no new shoots. No flowers.
Do you keep it in full sun?
Jacarandas are lovely trees. We have planted two in our apartment garden
I like them, not sure they are great for bonsai but they are nice trees.
Cool vid! Btw, is that lizard at 16:00 on the left side yours?
That's so funny. I remember seeing him when I made the video but didn't think to look when I edited it. I've got hundreds of them in the yard. My pest protection program. I put him back outside when I got done with the video.
Thank you for sharing and the tutorial, friend. Best wishes always

They hate the soap and water treatment the leafs get burn 😩
That's why I just use the systemic granular.
I would I agree with you, my FT is full of tiny green bugs sucking the life out of it
How to develop aerial roots
humidity and lots of vigorous growth.
80-100% humidity, you can put it in a glass fishtank to do that
I agree with both of the other replies. Plus being pot bound.
Nice tree I just bought one any suggestions for indoor care right now it's outside
humidity and airflow when it lives indoor, much less water than it will need outdoor
I keep mine outside all of the time here in Florida. If I had one and lived up north I'd probably get a little grow light for the winter.
I had one .. didn't really like it and didn't keep it. Cracked a lot of branches trying to wire.. and didn't grow well for me in bonsai soil .. grew better in the pre-bonsai stuff.. Good luck to you Alan!
I am not really liking it much myself. I'll keep it mainly just to have something different. I do like the smell.
Cool water Jasmine 👍
Thanks I'm trying to turn it into something.
That's an interesting project, splitting the trunk... I hope it survives and your idea becomes a beautiful reality..
Nice Bald Cypress.. I don't think we have that species here... Great video 🎉🎉
It is not a tropical species but it does great down here in Zone 10.
