My wife and I have stayed at this resort twice, great experience both times.
We’ll be flying out of Toronto too. Did you book your Royal Service through Sunwing or once you got there?? Is Royal Service really worth it?
@@dx3200 we booked through Sunwing I think Royal Service is worth it. Better food, service and rooms. You have a buttler for any special requests such as room service. Outdoor shower is awesome. All the best.

Do u know what the name of the new resort will be and when it's to open by chance..We're u able to take a look at the Grand Aston..How was the food what did u like and what did u not fancy..
@@virginiaionson1221 we asked the staff if they know the name of the new resort and they said they do not announce the name until just before they opening. They didn’t know the timing of the opening but they knew it’s not going to be this year. I’m guessing from what I saw mid next year. The Grand Aston to me is similar to Villa Gele only a larger resort with more options in room types. The food we found to be quite good for Cuba. Didn’t have any issues. Nothing stood out as spectacular but nothing bad either. I always remember the rice to be what seemed under cooked. The ice cream and desserts were delicious.
How's the food. Any shortage of stuff?
@@rtrader8444 Hi, there was some shortages but not as much as other Cuban resorts we have been to. Not all veggies, not many kinds of fish, avocados. We found the food to be quite good, best of the 6 Cuban resorts we have been to. The rooms are small.

@@rrrcet you should check it out if you have a chance. The starfish resort is so so, but the beach is awesome. The best thing should be: go to Iberostar Origin Daiquiri, these two share the beach. Cheers.

I enjoyed the Colonia in 2012 the week of the fire. Food was good. Relaxing place. Entertainment good Bikini contest fun. Fixed but fun.. President Beer was ok Beach ok Ill head back someday.
how was the weather whe you where there?we are planning to be there september 2024.
Weather was good when we were there but varies during the year. I have been in the area in September but it is the rainy season. It doesn’t mean it will rain necessarily, it just this is the time of year when it rains more. Once we had to leave because a hurricane was coming.
The water temperature is so amazing! September is the time of year when it's the warmest and the colour is so beautiful.

Thank you for the video, I'm from Toronto also! My family and I are going in April. How did you like the food? I've heard some not so great things about it and am getting nervous. We're not super picky but would like to be able to eat, also nervous about getting sick.
Hi. I think you will be fine. My wife and I have traveled a lot all over the Caribbean and I would say the food here is a least average if not a little above. The buffet there is one of the best I’ve seen. The a-la-carts are below average. We ordered room service and they got nothing right and brought things we didn’t ask for. The drinks are average. The beach is beautiful but crowded. All the best

Great content, but slow down. Your panning faster than your camera can focus. So anyone hoping to gather information for a potential stay cant see what they want to.

I booked this resort last year but had to cancel last minute as WestJet had a strike mandate for its pilots. There was no other airline going here on the same day I wanted to travel, so I booked Melia Punta Cana. I've been watching endless reviews of which resort to go to this year; Iberostar, Riu, Grand Palladium, Dreams, Royalton etc. I saw some negative reviews about this resort criticizing the beach and scratched it off my list. But after watching your review, I'm booking it! The beach looks great and the hotel ground are beautiful. This is the best review of this resort I've seen. Thanks !!
Thank you for the kind comment. I have been to 25+ resorts in Mexico, DR, Cuba, Jamaica. I would say this one is like most. There pros and cons. I would say the pros are the buffet, drinks, food the beach except the beach is crowded. One of the things I really liked was the bracelets, your room key is on the bracelet and they are soft so comfortable to wear. The average is the rooms, and service. The cons may be the room service, they didn’t bring anything we ordered. All is all I would say it’s a pretty good place and price. I would also take a look at the 2 places next door, they are both Majestic and newer. The Colonial is the oldest.

We spent a week at Colonial in April 2022. Place is amazing. We have already booked for November ‘24. Make sure you book the Colonial Club Access. We are also planning to stay at Majestic Elegance or Mirage next year. The food is awesome, unlike Cuba.
Taino and the Japanese restaurants were AWESOME and a great entertaining experience!!!

Looks amazing. I've been to Punta Cana 4 times and am considering this resort. How would you compare this beach to Bavaro beach?
Hi. I was just in Punta Cana from January 20 to 29. I have been to Punta Cana 4 times 3 times on Bavaro beach and I would say although this La Romana resort was nice, I preferred Bavro beach. The one thing that’s not as good at Bavro beach is it’s much busier. La Romana was nice for a change.

Hi. We liked the rooms and beach they were very nice. The food was a little below average I would say. I would recommend it if you’re ok with that. The tropical vibe is not as nice as Mexico or Dominican but nice.
Is the catamaran ride included in the price of the room?
Music was annoying. You should have talked though out the video, your impressions, the good, the bad etc… Good luck on the next one

Was at this hotel in July. Thoroughly enjoyed it, only done a week . Would definitely go back again. Staff were very friendly and nothing was too hard for them to do. Just make sure you pack some good mosquito repellent though!
Where did you go snorkelling in the first clip at the resort ? Visiting Sian kaan in 3 weeks, can’t wait! What was your highlight?
Hi. I went snorkeling in front the Akumal resort. Our highlight was you have a lot of choices of a-La-cart restaurants because staying at Sian Kaan allows you to go to any of the restaurants. Also there’s a long beach to walk on. One last think is you can visit all the other resorts.
