    Do you leave the lids loose or no?

    I followed this exact method except I raised the temperature for the last 20 minutes to 135°C and i didn't not wait to that long for the corn to dry.. like 20 min and put it in the jars.. a tablespoon of water an into the oven. Inoculated 2 days ago and i am already seeing first mycelium grows.. the corn looks almost perfect. Literally no wets spot but still enough moisture. Lets she how it goes.. i am excited..

    I did only 90mins of oven sterilzation since its way too hot to be letting the oven run that long, and ive had success every time, 2hrs + sounds a bit long, can burst kernals like that.

    • @oneautumnleaf2622
      @oneautumnleaf2622 11 дней назад

      so 90mins total or 30mins at 300 then 90 at 250?

    • @Leadslinger619
      @Leadslinger619 11 дней назад

      @@oneautumnleaf2622 I pre heated the oven 300 then once I placed the jars in the oven dropped in down to 280 and left for 90 mins but every 20mins I would rotate jar, and make sure you lay them don't stand the jars up in oven and never tightly seal your jars when in oven, I usually put the disc part of the cap on jar, then cover it with foil, then screw the ring on top. Works great. And just to be extra safe after letting them cool off over night the next day I put them in the oven again for 30 mins @ 290.

    • @Leadslinger619
      @Leadslinger619 11 дней назад

      @@oneautumnleaf2622 if it all wet after the oven it's fine, the corn will re absord it while it cools off over night, you never inoculate jars the same day you make them.

    The coffee grounds are not really so much for nutrients for the mycelium but rather a starting off point for the mycelium to grow when using a spore syringe. Obviously a speck of ground coffee is much smaller than a popcorn kernel so the mycelium will develop on coffee grounds pretty quickly and start spreading to the popcorn around it. All it really does is knock a few days off the waiting time for colonisation to start. If you want added nutrients add Gypsum powder.

    What's wrong with just sliding the sterilized needle past the polyfil? I see you did not use polyfil but I assume you've seen people who use polyfil for the air hole.

I didn’t want to purchase a pressure cooker until I was certain I could manage everything. This made it sooo simple. Thank you!

    What's the point of making sure all the grains are dried perfectly if you're going to put extra water in the jars later ? They will lose most of the moisture once they go into the oven anyway.

    Hey, I forgot to cover my jars with aluminum foil befor putting them in the oven. Do you think this might do harm? I thought the aluminium foil was to prevent waterdrops from a pressure cooker to drop on the microporetape.
