KIA Sorento - Replace Pinion Bearing
Просмотров 18 тыс.6 лет назад
If your KIA Sorento's rear axle is making noise it is likely a worn out pinion bearing. I discuss the options for getting replacement bearings or differential, the scope of the project, and the process of removing the differential.

Thank you for taking the time to document your experience in doing this repair. I feel totally prepared now to take on the task and make arrangements to setup an appointment with a shop that can press the pinion out. Much appreciated and informative. Many blessings.
Nice video! Very helpful!
you didn’t change the limited slip ?
Great video. I just tackled this project with your help. For other people trying to do this the bearing numbers are tr369035hlf1 and br30306. The local part stores probably won’t have them they will give u the wrong ones. Also use his trick with the threaded rods. Pretty much impossible without doing it that way.
Mines revving when i turn the handlebars.
I watched this a while back, then just now again. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this video, it's such an incredible help!
Chain tension is proper, but the chain slips once in a while under load up hill, do I need to change the rear shock???
thank you for all the info to do this job!! Great video!!
Great video but no torque specs for the bolts on the housing?
I know it's an old video and you may not see this but this was a perfect how to video I'll be doing thin on my new to me 350L and now I know it will be a fairly easy replacement, and you taught me how to adjust my oil injection as a bonus.
Thank you for the info, especially oil pump area
What a pain in the ass
I can’t see what you connected back to
Would you mind telling me where you got all your plastics/fenders from missing 2 pieces
My Fuller flipped the battery flu out ripped the solenoid off and I don't know which wires to hook back up to make it work properly with the ignition and the electric start any help would be grateful again compliment on your video
The starter solenoid is fairly easy to wire-up. You have two poles, with a nut for each. The pole on the left is for the big cable coming from the starter. The pole on the right is for the connection to the positive terminal on the battery. a small red wire comes from the start button and is wired to the red wire on the solenoid. When you press the start button, that feeds a small 12 volt current to the solenoid, which closes the switch and allows the voltage from the battery to flow to the starter. If it ripped out, you need to find the wire coming from the start switch and maybe replace part of the wiring. You may also need to replace the cable from the solenoid to the positive terminal on the battery.
So I love your video I compliment you one of the clearest most understanding videos I have watched yet on this machine, if you could tell me how to do the starter and a solenoid I would so be so grateful
Damnit all I need is a picture of that damn clip while it's still installed and I'd have it.
Can the same seals fit on a 350 Polaris 2stroke engine if so what’s the part number so I can order some ?
Your best option is to order an oil seal kit on Ebay for a Polaris 350. Much cheaper. It will come with 3 seals, but you only need 2 for the outer crankshaft seals.
Awesome video as usual! How long of a 3/4 fine thread bolt are you using?
I use a 3 or 4 inch bolt. Either one will get the job done.
@@atvtheory3151 thanks for the reply! Keep up the good videos!
THIS DUDEA FUKING DUMMMMMMMMMBBBBBBB NEVER EVER HAMMER ANYTHING AGAINST THE ALUMINUM!!!!!!!!! WHAT THE FUCK DUDE YOURE STUPID TAKE THIS OFF THE INTERNET. DOGSHIT OLD ASS BLIND DUDE
Thank you for making this video - much helpful!!
Late to the show, I know. I have a 2003 Kia Sorento that has a loud humming noise from the rear. The dealer says it is the rear diff. What noise should you hear when the pinion bearings are worn out???
You'll hear a fairly loud whirring noise that changes volume and pitch as you speed up and slow down. The noise will be coming from the back of your Kia.
So what you described is very similar to what mine sounds like. Could a bad wheel bearing make the same noise and as you speed up or is its sound different altogether?
@@atvtheory3151 Also forgot to say thank you so much for posting this video. There isn't much out there on Kia Sorento repair, at least not much worth watching. Much Appreciated
Main thing I came for was cut out. I cant get my cable out the carb cap
You forgot to put the nut back on behind the stator lol
I found some where that explained why this is so common. They told that the fill plug for rear end is too low, and the only way to get enough oil into the rear end is to raise the rear of the vehicle (axles and all) about 8 inches so that more oil can be poured in, and then replace plug and lower vehicle down. I believe it was about half a quart more you added. I did this after getting the noise. It helped for a while, but if you have this vehicle it should be done to prevent the bearing from getting bad.
I have a 1995 Big Boss 400l, it Boggs down a little bit off of the start but gets much more responsive after about 1/4 throttle. Carb is clean, but would these crank seals play a role in this problem? Thanks
You’re getting to much fuel also change the spark plug
I just had a rebuild. I used a engine hoist to lift up the rear end to get of shock ...
I have looked and looked. This is the best description of how to adjust the oil pump on the entire World Wide Web!! Thanks
Does anyone have a part number or link to an aftermarket shock?
I was riding my 350 TB last night and my lamp flickered twice then went out. My speedo light still works....Does that sound like the bulb or old wiring or switch failure??? thanks.
awesome video..thank you
Can you help back brakes And any other Polaris ones that might fit
Why did the flywheel nut come off so easy compared to mine?
He had it previously removed and put back on for video purposes
Would this fit a 03 330 trail boss
Great video! Thank you for sharing with the world. This helped out a ton!
AT 11:45 DO NOT DO THIS this is not the reccomended way to apply oil because metal filings may be on the tool they may compromise the bearing.
I hope no one is actually removing seals like this by hammering a flat head in between the aluminum case half and seal he’s a hack lol
11:37 DON`T DO THIS PLEASE USE A SHEETROCK SCREW SCREWED INTO BAD SEAL AND PRY IT OUT WITH CLAWED HAMMER OR THE LIKE DON`T SCRATCH THE OPENING FOR THE SEAL LIKE THIS GUY IS DOING
Do you happen to have the Fox shock description? I am having a hard time locating this. Mine is a 16” eyelet to eyelet.
Great video. I’m going to tackle replacing my cable this weekend. Thanks a bunch for creating this!!!
Link to where you got replacement parts?
Two sources. www.mfgsuppy.com is my usual source, but top end piston kits are also available on ebay
I had my front diff rebuilt on an 09 Sorento. When I picked it up. Still making the whirring noise, and getting louder again. The mechanic told me it's supposed to make that noise still. Is this guy wrong? I believe he is, and just did a bad job. Costing me over a $1000. I told him he needs to make it rite. So please tell me. Should this noise still be occuring?
No it should not
For seal removal in this situation, i would drill 2- 1/16" holes in side of seal at 3 and 9 `o clock, then thread drywall screws in just enough to bite onto seal and, pull seal out with them.
If you use a long enough screw you can use a claw hammer levered at the end of the crank to pry the screw head with.
Where did you buy the rubber things next to the suspension
Was wondering why you used simple green instead if soapy water solution. Very nice video and explanation.
extremely helpful thank you very much for making this video
Which way does the little washer/ clip go that hold the needle in where the spring sits on it?
The clip goes on the jet needle in one of 5 positions. Move the clip down to make the air/fuel mixture richer. Move the clip up to make it leaner. After you install the clip, slide the plastic washer up from the bottom, onto the jet needle. The clip rests on the plastic washer. Drop the jet needle into the slide. The spring needs to be compressed into the cap, so the throttle cable is long enough to reach down into the slide and insert into the slot. Keep the spring compressed while you drop the metal plate into the slide, to keep the throttle cable and jet needle from coming out. The pressure from the spring will keep the plate in place.
Thanks for the video really helpful
How did u get the spring off????
Google”How do you remove spring from atv shock” and watch the first suggested clip, you have to have something to compress the spring, preferably a spring compressor, even then it’s still sketchy to me.i just had my shock break and found an entire replacement shock and spring luckily and don’t have to risk life and limb to remove spring,be careful buddy
@@Crumbcatcher-mi9pf I have a 95 scrambler 400 and my front shocks act like they're metal bars instead of shocks and springs, they're very stiff when riding, do you know why this may be?
I have a polaris trail boss 250 and I have a terrible rattling coming from the counter balancer area, have it almost all torn down the rod bearing is good and appears the crank bearings are as well, any advice?
