Off Road Adventure 4 Star Wars Edition
Only my 4th off road trip with 4x4 Vegan's Shawn Kellogg. We shot this at the beginning of 2023 and it took me a year to finally get it edited. This trip took us north of Las Vegas through the town of Mesquite, Nevada. We took the trail to get to the Grand Canyon Parashant Monument. This beautiful but treacherous drive combines the joy of off roading and a little bit of Star Wars. I think this is the ONLY off road/Star Wars video out there...at least like this one.

Off Road Adventure III

This is my third off-road adventure. This is my daily driver and I don't want to destroy it by rock crawling. I just want to take a few roads less traveled. Today, we have a special guest along for the ride.

Taking the Spicy Taco out for a second time along with my friend Shawn and his new Rubicon. Just mild off-roading because neither of us wants to destroy our vehicles, but still like to get outdoors because you never know what you're going to see!

      Thanks for watching and for the tip! A friend helped me put this together more than 10 years ago. He was a member of the 501st and made that particular recommendation. However, there is another issue with my bucket...the blue lines aren't the same on both sides. The pieces didn't line up properly, so there are more visible blue lines on one side. Ha ha ha! I STILL don't have the rest of the armor built.

    Your experience is almost , to the tee, the same as mine. I saw Star wars in 1977 (I too was 7 years old) at the mall in San Jose, CA. My jaw was on the floor for the entire movie and fell in love with the Stormtroopers and Darth Vader (mostly the strom troopers ;) ). I promised myself that I would get a Stormtrooper suit when I grew up, but life got in the way. I did however, bukld a modest collect of figures and vehicles through out my life. I recently purchased my own suit and am. in the process of building it. Thank you for the video, it helped.

Haven't done any events since then, but that's okay. I just love having a real Stormtrooper helmet! If you watch my latest offroad video, you'll see a "rugby helmet" I found on Amazon. It actually works great in conjunction with these little pads! Everyone's head is shaped differently, so I hope you found something that works. Also in that offroad video, you can see my other helmets: Mandalorian, Tank Trooper and Shore/AT-ACT Driver.

      Thank you so much for your comment! I am so happy to hear this and my Uncle Fred would have been super thrilled, too. Unfortunately, he passed away earlier this year. I was able to visit him in February for his last birthday and I shared the comments I had received here. Teaching was his passion, along with fishing. I am so grateful that I was able to shoot this video and hear his stories. The challenge of editing this was the fact that he shared many stories about my own family history, which made it hard for me to focus on what to include. But I remembered that he told me, "I want to teach children about the hukilau." Then it made it clear to me that I needed to stay focused in this story and keep my family history in a second video. Thank you so much for taking the time to say your kind words. Mahalo!

    • @SuganoPro
      @SuganoPro 2 года назад

      Thanks for watching. That is a very good question. All of the Electrum sabers have had issues due to the delayed upgrade to their diatium 3 software. It wasn’t a huge issue for me when I first got the saber. The app was a little wonky, but overall, I was happy with the sound and effects. Then they released a beta version of the update that was supposed to come out in 2021. I had some issues with the upgrade, but found that my SD card needed to be replaced. Huge improvement from the previous version, but it still has a few bugs that Electrum promised to fix. Well, here we are nearly halfway through 2022 and they still haven’t released the final version of the upgrade. With that said, there are a lot of people on the Facebook forum whining, complaining and threatening to sell their sabers and so on. But to be super honest, this is an expensive toy. It’s not going to do everything you want it to do, and there are other companies and individuals who will swap out the soundboards with better ones. The bottom line for me is that I have a beautifully crafted custom saber. It fits nicely in my hands, it’s the only saber I know with a touch sensitive control, and the build quality is very nice. Do I play with the thing everyday? No. Nor do I want to. I like to show it off from time to time to friends and use it for my Disney bounding. For that, it’s perfect! I am patiently waiting for the updated firmware which will be nice, but certainly not a deal breaker for me. I also have a Saberforge lightsaber which is also fantastic. It is a little heavier and it included a lot more sound fonts and preset effects, but it is also quieter than the Electrum saber. I have also purchased an Ultrasabers grab bag and it’s a piece of junk…no sound, one color in-hilt LED. And compared to the custom sabers you build at Galaxy’s Edge in Disney or even their replicas, Electrum’s sabers are far superior. The Disney ones are super thick, the build-your-own ones are just stamped pieces of metal, and don’t have the smooth swing or responsiveness of the Electrum or Saberforge sabers. So, would I recommend the Electrum Sabercrafts sabers? YES! Will they perform well? Yes. As long as you remind yourself like I do that it’s a pretty cool TOY, then you’ll be happy.

      @@SuganoPro Gotcha! Thanks for the reply! I've been doing a lot of research on this, seeing as I'll probably be spending a bunch of money on the one I do get, and while Electrum seems to have some amazing looking designs, their tech just isn't up to par when it comes to some other companies. It is a shame, because I think the Scion especially is one of the best looking sabers out there, at least original ones out there... I've been looking at sabertrio, which seems to have some truly good quality items... But they're never in stock. So I think Electrum will be a good backup, but I still wish it could be an easy #1 choice. Thanks again!

    Really helpful review. Electrum is probably not the only saber that has these features, but it is the only one I've found with them. And the attention to detail in their battle scaring and weathering is amazing. The way I figure it, this is an ancient weapon from "a long time ago", so it wouldn't be shiny and new. I love the idea of weathering it and I'm looking forward to ordering an Evo-Flex in the next couple weeks. I'm just curious what the actual shipping time was to get it to you. I asked them and they said between 6 and 12 weeks, which seems like quite the window. It's like the cable guy saying he'll be there between 8 am and 7 pm. ;) How long did it actually take for you to get yours, if you recall? Again, awesome review. Very very helpful and I'm sure Electrum appreciates this one being out there.

      Thanks for watching. I ordered mine as part of a Black Friday sort of special in 2020 around late-October with the promise that it would arrive before Christmas that year. So it was a pretty tight window and it was delivered as promised. 6 to 12 weeks is the normal wait time from any custom saber shop. I ordered from Saberforge, too. They said 12-15 weeks. But it took 6 months! Most likely due to supply chain issues, chip shortage, etc. But worth the wait. The good news is, by the time your saber ships, hopefully they’ll have the ever-elusive firmware update all complete, and you will have all the latest bells and whistles that many of us have been waiting for. We were promised this update for the beginning of 2021, but got the beta version mid-2021 with the promise the full version would be out by the fall of 2021, yet we are still without the full version. But it doesn’t bother me that much. I am so happy with the build quality and the features as-is. There are minor glitches, like not saving my profiles from time to time, the menu button from the saber not working like it should, but really minor to me. Dave Craswell, the owner of the company responds to everyone’s comments and concerns, and really cares about his product being done right. In the end, I have the mindset that this is an expensive toy, and the technology behind it is something super cool. There are some haters out there, but they can always shop from somewhere else, or find a person who can modify any custom saber to certain specifications. I really hope you enjoy your saber. I wore mine at Disneyland last year and a kid tried to power it up while I was standing in line for Rise of the Resistance. Ha ha ha! Good luck and May The Force Be With You!

      You had that red flashlight with the white tube, too! Ha ha ha! You’ll be happy with the Electrum saber. I still love mine, even though they still haven’t released the firmware update that promises some exciting features. Hopefully, they’ll send your with the completely updated stuff. I did my review of my Saberforge Rebel Princess Mark III. It’s pretty cool, too.

    To do the volume control your blade has to be off, then you point it down and hold the button for 2 seconds to enter the control menu. To change the volume you have to rotate your hilt left to right to change the volume up amd down.

      The pieces I reference in this video worked okay. But I removed the entire lining of the Stormtrooper helmet, so it was very loose with these pads. So I ended up purchasing these rugby helmets. But the rugby helmet will work best if you don’t have any padding in the helmet to begin with. So start with the smaller pad sections to see if that helps. Right now, they are about $10. Vantrue is a bit on the expensive side, but the N2 or N4 might be good options. There are some out there that have battery power so that it will record movement or vibrations when parked. That way you can catch people who might bump your car or try to break in. I have the N2 in our van. I like it much better because it’s smaller and records the interior of the cab, too. The N4 has the “third” camera to put at the rear of the car.

      Thank you for watching. Funny, I never thought I would review a custom lightsaber of all things. I still love my Electrum Sabercrafts saber. There were a few software bugs in the beginning, but I knew their company was developing new firmware. They released a beta version of it a couple of months ago. It made the experience even better, but there are still some minor bugs. But they promise that's all going to change in the big firmware release. It doesn't really matter to me. The saber itself is so beautiful in design. It's lightweight and is every bright. What sold me was that there weren't too many choices and the touch sensitive switch. I have since purchased two other custom sabers from two different companies, and both have a button that you push to turn them on and off. To me, it's like powering up a flashlight. In the next couple of weeks, I'll be launching a video about my newest custom saber from Saberforge, and I'll release a separate one comparing it to this one and one I bought from Ultrasabers. I know, I had to at least try despite all of the recommendations NOT to buy from Ultrasabers. You'll definitely be happy with Electrum. There is a forum on Facebook, and the owner Dave Craswell responds to everyone's concerns and genuinely wants to make everyone's experience with his sabers an awesome one. You won't be disappointed.

    so I have 2 questions, one is your lightsaber still working today? and two can you still ignite the saber with gloves on or does it not work with that since i wanna do a cosplay with it and i wanna be able to ignite my sabers with some gloves on

    • @SuganoPro
      @SuganoPro 2 года назад

      Yes, my Electrum Saber is still working today. The firmware beta update is much better and there are more updates coming soon. I don’t use the saber everyday and I do not duel with it, but I have accidentally dropped it onto a hard surface from about three feet and no problems. I have not tried turning it on with gloves, but I will give it a test later. My guess is that it will work with those gloves that has the special material on the finger allowing you to use a mobile device, but not sure. I don’t own any gloves like that, so my test will be with standard glove material.

      @@wrench1720 I couldn’t find my gloves, but I put various fabrics over my hand to see what would work. Thick material like a winter glove would probably not work.
