I loved Leakey's Bookshop, Isle of Skye, Pitlochry, and Edinburgh! Just went there in October. I agree that it was difficult to get all of the gifts (and personal purchases) I wanted because of limited space in the suitcase. I definitely want to go back to Scotland someday. I don't particularly collect these, but a lot of my favorite editions are these. A lot of people think these are gaudy and cheap, but I remember being a teenager and seeing these and thinking they looked amazing. I always wanted the Dune edition and finally got it 3 years ago. I read my books and I prefer to read hardcover. I don't care how expensive a copy is. I don't care if it's BnB, Easton Press, Folio Society, mass market hardcover, I'm gonna read the damned book.

Frankenstein is good. Not like the old movies at all.

I have the same food processor and my blades broke. I did mix it with frozen avocado so I’m not sure if it was the banana or the avocado. I luv this one ingredient banana ice cream.

Hello, for Frankenstein I bought it on Amazon but the inside artwork is not the same ( it looks more like wood). Is that normal?

I love everything about this. From you saying that agenting wasn't something you wanted to do your whole life, instead growing into it and feeling affirmed by it the more you learned, to you saying that you grew up in the Midwest (like me--you actually went to college at a university less than half an hour from me, at William Jewell) far away from the publishing world, and even the fact that you say you are still learning about the field but determined, borderline obsessively, to grow in it. I also really, really love how you aren't faking some grand persona for the sake of false appearance. You're just being straightforward about your experience, your history, and your interests. I honestly think you're someone who's level-headed enough to really do well in the industry long-term, with a healthy enough mindset to not be defeated by the inevitable roadblocks that come with building a new career. I also love your personal enjoyment of C.S. Lewis, since he wrote my favorite book of all time, Till We Have Faces. This is a breath of fresh air.

Seeing as how it’s such a large and thick book, would it be better to just save this as a collector’s piece and read the paperback instead? Is it uncomfortable or unpractical to physically read this?

When Tolkien wrote Galadriel, she was to be a representation of the Holy Mother Mary, not a girl boss who runs around killing trolls and being a 115lb He-man. This story is in no way a tribute to Tolkien. The is BAD fan fiction Tolkien taken to the M-She-U.

Your video inspired me to visit my local Barnes & Noble for the first time in many months. I'm glad I did, even if I didn't get as much of an indie-bookstore vibe as I imagine they're aiming for. When I walked in, the merchandise was much more front and center than the last time I visited which put me off a bit at first. Yet, since there really aren't that many brick-and-mortar stationary stores left where I live, I ended up really enjoying browsing the journals and notecards. Beyond that, the book displays were slightly more varied and some felt less corporate. And hooray for the return of the "blind date" table! I just love reading the staff messages and buying a surprise to be opened later. Best of all, there were just a lot of people there, especially for a weekday morning, browsing books, chatting with staff about books, reading at the cafe. Such a great book oasis atmosphere! Maybe I just stopped by on an especially good day, but I hope not - I'll have to return soon and see.

I just found your channel through Becky's USA booktubers video & subscribed! I haven't read any of these books but Project Hail Mary sounds really interesting. It's not my typical genre but I may have to check that out sometime!

Jane Eyre is one of my fav's, too! Les Mis is awesome, although I admit I skimmed through some of the mega-long descriptions (of the Paris sewer system, for example 😄)

The Sparrow is amazing - I think people of faith are hard to write in a genuine way that makes their motivations seem real, and this book nails it.

My opinion is that Maxim in the book has a temper that genuinely frightens the heroine, when it does come out. The movie didn't put that across at all. Also, her sense of being alone in a hostile world didn't come across in the movie.

How do you decide what to price the books?

With a quick glance back at 2022 on Goodreads I think my top 3 were: The Puma Years, Circe, and Elevation. 🤔 😄 Also, I agree the end of Hail Mary is worth every page to get there. So. Good.
