White Christmas Song by Bing Crosby with a picture slideshow of snowy scenes. Lyrics: I'm dreaming of a white Christmas Just like the ones I used to know Where the treetops glisten, and children listen To hear sleigh bells in the snow I'm dreaming of a white Christmas With every Christmas card I write May your days be merry and bright And may all your Christmases be white. I'm dreaming of a whi...

Graceful as the letter S ! 😁
Thank you Ruth! amazing work! I went to Spittal School, and lived in Treffgarne, I miss it and love it, and now you have educated me, I had no idea Spittal came from the word Hospital but now it makes sense! I wish I could travel back in time (obviously avoiding the bullies)
Thanks very much for the kind words. I enjoyed doing these local movies. I also have one done for Treffgarne and Wolfscastle - oh and Letterston.
Thanks for putting this together. Has been many years since I've been here, but a relative, Rev David Williams, was rector of St Marys, Begelly & here until his death.
My groupmates had to learn this poem at Institute. We were going to become English teachers.
What a beautiful poetry...... While perfectly matching with the beautiful pictures....Thank you
Beautiful!! Perfect so refreshing! The illustrations have the same rhythm and nuance that the words have. This poem is also one of my favourites or the one. Thanks a million.

The following addition information was sent to me - 'What a lovely and informative picture tour of Treffgarne . About three minutes into the film there is a delightful piece about Treffgarne Mountain, our sheep and ponies are looking good! You make mention of the three boulders in our 20 acre field, bought in 1986 which we affectionately know as "Victoria Park"-these three boulders were placed in the field in the interests of animal husbandry in 2000. The reason unfortunately is nothing to do with any magical or spiritual aura of the mountain but merely for our sheep to "have a scratch" - relieving themselves against the stones prevents them rolling onto their backs, which leaves them prone to pecking by crows. Hope you don't mind me mentioning this, it will avoid confusion should the stones need to be moved in the future-thank you.'
Beautiful Hymn!
Who is the fine Singer on this fine Video? Outstanding voice.
+Don Clark I think you mean Harry Secombe.
Thank You much!
Wow, Absolute perfection. Katherine's voice & the pictures, Truly Awesome, Thank you so much..
+ndog2005 Thank you for the kind words - I love this piece and she sings it so movingly.
My compliment for this wonderful composition of the lines of the poem with music and pictures.
Мне в своё время очень понравилось данное стихотворение и я его перевёл. Six years ago I met and translated from English into Russian this wonderful poem by Mr.Davies William Henry Davies Leisure What is this life, if full of care, We have no time to stand and stare! No time to stand beneath the boughs, And stare as long as sheep and cows. No time to see, when woods we pass. Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass. No time to see in broad daylight Streams full of stars like skies at night. No time to turn at Beauty’s glance, And watch her feet, how they can dance. No time to wait till her mouth can Enrich that smile her eyes began. A poor life this if, full of care, We have no time to stand and stare © Copyright Valentin Savin
Very interesting tour including the marvellous stained glass pictures in the church. I will be visiting here in the next few months.
In Japan the song (poem ) has been adapted by a musician & poet and set to a different touching tune, and is popularly sung on occasions of grief & sadness---the title (translated into English) could just be "A Thousand Winds" or the like. *I understand this tune (as sung here by Katherine Jenkins) is originally Irish (that is, if I'm right, it's a piece of Irish folk music with a poem written by an American lady!).♫
Excellent and informative film - but just one criticism; I had to keep 'pausing' the video because the messages were not there long enough to read, and so the overall effect is lost somewhat...
Thanks for the feedback. I did extend the text pages but did not want to have them on too long to bore people too much - a bit of a juggling task and I may have underestimated how long it takes to read things. Will take your comments on board if I do another one.
Hi - and no problem. I hope I didn’t sound over- critical - didn’t mean to. :-) I’ve just watched it again without stopping to read all through, and it's still a wonderful film! I’ve always been interested in this historical event - and I believe Rev. Mompesson to have been a truly WONDERFUL man! I would love to see the Play again that was televised back in 1973 - but I can’t find a copy anywhere.... Thanks again.
nintendy Not at all - always welcome suggestions - may see if I can update it but keep this one here as well. Not sure if you have seen the blog I put together of links and info - eyamplague.blogspot.co.uk/
Great tribute to a terrible event in history and the stolid heroism of the people of this village, whose unselfish, self imposed quarantine must have saved thousands of lives. Just think if the Plague had spread to other areas like Sheffield. It could be that Eyam still has its part to play in fighting the Bubonic Plague. ruclips.net/video/bQ8JQZwiwWE/видео.html
Acorns into Mighty Oaks When I leave this world I hope I leave a better place Where deeds I've done And paths I've trod Have helped the human race; Where seeds I've sown will blossom still And trees I've planted grow From acorns into mighty oaks I hope I've made it so. For to leave the world without a trace No footprints in the sand No memory in a loved one's heart, No mark upon the land, No legacy to show you cared, No promises to keep, Must surely make it hard to face An eternity of sleep.
Very nice one.. Still I remember we have learnt this beautiful poem in our school days........
Many thanks for the full lyrics we can see and read. This version of the song & tune performed by Katherine Jenkins, what might be called the Katherine Jenkins version, perhaps, may well be classical now the world over, although it so happens that in Japan Man Arai's version titled "A Thousand Winds" released a couple of years ago has been much better known & loved by many Japanese---I don't know exactly why!♫
I love these words. I am not so sure about the musical melody...its a bit blah!
Sophia Roy Chodhury, Katherine Jenkins did not write this song. It is an old poem put to music.
You are quite correct - I said 'song by' but meaning 'sung by'. I have now amended the description. Thanks.
neonpuss1 I hadn't noticed it in the description. Only in the comments. This has always been one of my favorite poems. :-)
)
Sorry but its Bradshaw not bagshaw....right?
Well all the references I have seen and the plaques in the village state BAGSHAW - unless someone knows different.
neonpuss1 Oh ok but in my Literature class it is *Bradshaw*
Well there is a BRADSHAW HALL but the ones who died and the house they lived in seems to have been BAGSHAW. What literature do you get your info from? I shall make enquiries of those who live in Eyam.
Captain_PlaysMC Have had this info back from Eyam page on Facebook - 'The Bradshaws fled Eyam and left Bradshaw Hall partially built, Bagshaw House is now the name of the building in which the Siddall family lived'. They also said that if you are 'studying Don Taylor's stage play The Roses of Eyam the only Bradshaws mentioned or portrayed in that play are Squire Bradshaw and his wife'. Hope that helps to sort out the confusion.
we have a carafan in the carafan site there were in the back where the hedge is .. childhood once again
i go to pendine with my grandfather and grandmother every spring and summer :D brings back childhood ;-;
All I can't think of when I hear this song is Sherlock...
Amazing acorn and Oak tree The poem-so well illustrated in this U tube the poem is a gem and as i age it teaches me, gives me Direction-Many thanks rgds TR Till now had only seen Oak and Lily--- Ode by Ben Johnson.
Thanks for compiling and sharing, I really enjoyed it. I am spending a few days there soon and this gave me some useful and interesting background to the village.
I love this poem! I'm also related to William Wordsworth as I think he is my Great, Great, Great, Great Grandfather! I'm a Wordsworth myself!
Laugharne is pure beauty, the different colour houses that line up the streets is like balamory, and of course lets not mention the great dylan thomas who resided there with his family. This place is my childhood, and when I go back there occasionally it's still the same, undaunted by time. I walk up sunny hill and look at where my grandparents used to live before their untimely deaths, and remember sitting on my granddad's lap as he read me stories of the wind and the willows etc. Just.. nice.
Engaging film, and wonderfully moving music of Mahler as a backdrop. Thank you for sharing. Cheers

Thank you Ruth Roberts, very beautiful and wonderful choice of music!
Sorry, i didn't mean for my comment to sound mean :P Reading it twice it does come across that way, i was just a bit tired and over worked last night. xx
Thank you - I think that is what is commonly known as a mistake - unfortunately people do make them.
Read the stone more carefully, St. Marys garden was opened in 1993 not 1998 !
vey very good thankyou for shareing with everyone x very informative,,
soullllful
A beautiful poem having a deliberating concern regarding the beauty of nature and about the universe. What a brilliant style to excite the feelings of human.
Personally I also love the melody as well as the words and think they are the perfect combination.
Thanks for the lovely comment Sue. I think most people know this poem as we all had to learn it at school - but it so much nicer when you can see the lovely flowers too.
No sorry I don't offhand but someone may.
I absolutely adore this video and this Daffodils poem is my favourite of all time, it is beautiful and very lovely! Yellow daffodils that dance in the spring sun is a sight to behold.
do you know of any song with the lyrics " out of eternity a new day is born"?
I'm adding this by copying as it seems to have got lost in the system: ANGELSVEN has made a comment on A Picture Tour Around Laugharne, Carmarthenshire: My 11th great grand uncle Bishop Jeremy Taylor retired here after serving as Chaplain for King James I. He opened a school with his wife Phoebe. It is so beautiful here ~ I must go!
Thanks for the kind comment Dave.
really enjoyed this video. plus fitting music.
I like the nature of your poetry - very nice!
