ADHD Meds in My 50s: Unexpected Side Effects of Strattera (Atomoxetine) and Elvanse (Vyvanse).
In this video, I share my experience with trying ADHD medication in my 50s, specifically starting Atomoxetine (Strattera), which caused severe side effects that nearly landed me in the hospital. One of the most distressing side effects was urinary retention, making it almost impossible for me to pee. The experience was both scary and overwhelming, leaving me with a tough decision about whether to continue ADHD medication at all.
After struggling with these debilitating side effects, I decided to try a different ADHD medication, Elvanse (Vyvanse) and thankfully, it’s been much more effective and manageable in these first few days.
