Random notes. * I so enjoy watching people be astonished, overjoyed, rollercoastered, and (like you say,) overwhelmed like I was when listening to Midwest Princess through for the first time, that I've watched a lot of these first-listens now. Alex Ray's, and now yours, Astrid, convince me that everyone should do them standing up instead of sitting down. Cuz You're Gonna Be Moving! * You're spot on with "theatre kid." While she sang from the start, age 14, by 16 what she had in Springfield, Missouri was an ACTING agent, not a singing agent. And it was her acting agent who found her a music agent in LA. Also she went to Arts Summer Camps for at least ages 16 and 17. The age 17 camp was in LA and full of kids pursuing tv and film careers. * Don't be sad, Chappell, "Look at you now! You've got the whole internet on your side!" Lol. Love that pep talk. She pretty much does, doesn't she? And no musician has ever deserved it more. When she wrote California (lyrics btw are a nod to and reversal of a Mamas and the Papas song from the 1960s) in spring 2020, Pink Pony Club had just been released but the covid lockdown squelched it being used in clubs, it wasn't making money, and Chappell foresaw her recording contract to be in trouble. Also her relationship with her longterm bf was souring; he'd throw her out within a few months (see Kink is Karma). She was depressed. * Rabbits aren't new. They're (usually, I think) small or smallish, and are the ones with two little projections that you put... well, you can figure it out. The little projections are thought to resemble rabbit ears.

Midwest Princess simply doesn't. It is unique.
