I remember going here throughout my childhood years but when you go to Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, you quickly realize that nothing else compares to Cedar Point and everything else sucks.
The Texas cyclone was the best out of all the roller coasters at AstroWorld the best ride. It is a crying shame Thay destroyed our AstroWorld amusement park. It’s ridiculous that they destroyed AstroWorld. It is the Time to rebuild AstroWorld. Houston Tx needs astroWorld amusement park back. Euston should have AstroWorld amusement park and we don’t even have one anymore. I love astroWorld like sooo many other people did. It makes Euston look stupid because we do not have AstroWorld. It was spectacular. Come on people Rebuild. AstroWorld better than ever. Again Houston Tx needs astroWorld back. We live in a big city and do not even have an amusement park like AstroWorld it makes Euston look very bad. We Miss AstroWorld and want it Back please.🎢🎠🎪🏵🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌹💖☄️💥🇨🇱🇱🇷
I was there in 1970 when i was 5 with my parents and grandparents! I rode that spiral tree trunk roller coaster w my dad and grandpa. We went on Alpine Sleigh Ride and got scared to death! Then we went for a drive on the antique cars. The track made a loop next to the Alpine Mountain. I started screaming and jumped out of the car and running away! My dad had to chase after me. In 2005 before it closed, my mom took a picture of my dad and me in the antique car. It was such great memories.
My favs were Alpine Sleigh ride, Xcalibur, Grease Lightening, the dome building were you laid on the floor and felt like you were floating in space, XRL8, The Viper. Texas Cyclone was rough riding...but it was nostalgic to the park. I remember going to my first concert at the Southern Star Amphitheater - Howard Jones 1987 and then also New Kids on the Block/Tiffany 1989. Studio A a teen dance club where it was shown on channel 2's Videocity on Friday nights. 93Q did live broadcasting. This was around 1986-87. Some great memories at this park...I wish I could of shared it with my kids.
It's sad that they closed Astroworld down.... It was a very bad business mistake.... I still tell my children how much fun it was for me and my friends to go there in the 1970's, I;m glad i was able to take my kids there before it was closed down.... It's a pitty.
When I was a kid, there was wooden logs for rails at the Thunder River. I don't know why but I stuck my head in between them and could not pull my head out...my parents could not either. I was like that for a while until the fire department came and had to cut the rails to get my head out. Years and years later when I was an adult THE LAST time I went there, I noticed they put some kind of mesh netting between the wooden logs so kids cant put their head through and I just laughed my ass off and told my friends with me the story.
Aw man, I wish I had a better memory of this place... I grew up in San Antonio so I mostly went to Fiesta Texas... But I remember we went to Astroworld right before it closed. I was only 7 or 8 so all I really remember is a long walk across a bridge to get there... Really wish it hadn't closed, I'm a huge amusement park enthusiast now that I'm older. My parents went when they were younger on trips from Corpus Christi.
both six flags parks ive been near by are closed now sadly. grew up goin to the one in new orleans and while evacuating for hurricane Katrina we stayed in houston. I asked my parents to go but we didnt have enough money. the park closed a month later. I wish I could have gone to this park. my dad did back in the 70s or 80s though
Marcos Ponce Out here at Magic Mountain on Ninja. Six Flags should turn half the cars on Ninja backwards, so that we can experience what XLR-8 was like.
In 1969 when I was 13 a buddy and me took the Harrisburg bus from Eastend into town then transferred to the S Main street bus to get to Astroworld. We paid our admission from the money we earned working catering parties at Lenox bbq. We hadn't been there an no more than an hour when Gary dared me while we were on the skyride to drop our cups of Coke on the people walking around, lucky for us when they hit the ground all they did was miss some old lady in her 30's. We'll needless to say one of the park security guards met us as we got off the ride. After taking us to an office and telling us how we could have hurt someone, he escorted us out of the park. We couldn't understand why we were not allowed to get part of our money back after being there only an hour. And by far the worst part was that we hadn't even ridden the Bamboo Shoot or the Alpine Mountain sleigh ride.
There is a amusement park being built in lamarque/Texas city...the land is already cleared out and the sign is up. It's right by the new tanger outlet mall
it's called "Adventure Pointe" it's going to start sort of small and then each year they are going to add more attractions also there's a MASSIVE theme park that is going to be built called "Grand Texas" it's going to be 600 acres In new caney Texas I am in League city so that one is going to be about 45 min away Here are both the FB pages for them facebook.com/adventurepointepark facebook.com/GrandTexas
+MyLifeTopics Thank you very much for the information, I was really curious about the amusement park. It's gonna epic when the open the parks up. I appreciate it, have a great day.
The only thing more amazing than the footage is the comments of people with similar experiences to my own regarding this very park. I visited it every 2-5 years up to the time they took away the trams that carried you from the parking lot to the front gate. When I had to be frisked down at a metal detector before going in I knew it would be the last time I went to Astroworld. :(
IM HERE IN CALIFORNIA AND A BIG VOUCHER FOR MY MAGIC MOUNTAIN, AND WOULDNT KNOW WHAT ID DO IF SIX FLAGS SHUT IT DOWN, THOUGH THEY ALMOST DID, BUT HOUSTONIANS, DONT LOOSE HEART!!! I JUST HOPE AND PRAY THAT U GET ASTROWORLD BACK!!! IM BEHIND YA 100%😉
It was a major scam the owners were taking a lot of the money and now they don't have funding it has been pushed back mutilple years now and all they have to show for it is a rob parking lot I wouldn't get your hopes up
I used to live there during the early 80s. Season passes from 81-83 and my mom worked across the street from the astrodome, so she'd drop me and my brother off at the park during her shift. Last time I was there was in 93. RIP Astroworld.
I think since the Texans moved in right next to it, if they would've touched it up a bit like they did Fiesta Texas, it would've gotten SO much more love. I went here once but it is one of my earliest memories of roller coasters and that kind of fun. Honestly, I always dreamed of going back and knowing that I never can makes me super sad. Oh well. I'll just go to fiesta Texas and get over it :/
Oh trust me, ain't NO getting over the lost of an amusement park that has brought so much happiness and fond memories, not ONLY for the people of Houston, but for anyone who visited this magical place.......THAT IS, until Six Flags comes to their senses and admit that they've made a big mistake by tearing it down and build a new one!!!😠
Ultra Twister looked super fun i wish i could have ridden that
@@lucasinthehouse007 man lucky you... Now I have to go to Japan if I wanna ride one
So many memories there. RIP Astroworld.
BORING!
Good music
I loved that ferris wheel!
I watched this video as a kid. Crazy how long it’s been, video still brings back good memories of Astroworld and my childhood
Omg

This video brought me chills.
Sad day
Wish i was there
I remember going here throughout my childhood years but when you go to Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, you quickly realize that nothing else compares to Cedar Point and everything else sucks.

I really hope your joking

I herd there could be a new astroworld possibly
What used to be Astroworld today now holds storage containers - still a plot of land otherwise being leveled. Was a fun place. 🤘🏽
Astroworld’s my planet, my hone
My first and last day at Astroworld
It's sad that they closed Astroworld down.... It was a very bad business mistake.... I still tell my children how much fun it was for me and my friends to go there in the 1970's, I;m glad i was able to take my kids there before it was closed down.... It's a pitty.
It’s the last ride i’m ever going to take at Astroworld

I miss working for Six Flags AstroWorld I worked there for 2 years 2003-2005 I was the Texas Cyclone Attendent
Makes me miss my dad so much.
Me too!
Did six flags give everyone notice that it was closing or after the season it just never reopened? Looks like a fun place.
Yes sir. Search for the channel on Astroworld's history in 2 parts called "Astroworld: A Cyclone of Thrills", and find out the story.
Thanks!
TRAVIS WILL BRING YOU BACK. -AstroWorld 2k17
Love the video parts. Great job. Thanks for uploading! 🙌🏼

How far along are they with the construction of Grand Texas, do you know ?
+Sean Lewis I really don't know not very far like I know they broke ground and cleared it out

Pynaegan Sadly; Disney and Universal now also require pat downs; bag searches and metal detectors. Like you - I'm over parks now.
I'm so sad now I really miss Astroworld thanks for sharing.
The song Carry On Wayward Son By Kansas
song at 7:00
+Juan Quevedo Its called the Marvel McFey song. This was a song actually made by Astroworld before being purchased by Six Flags.
+Geometry Dash Rizgumi It was after 1975. But the owners of the Astrodome were the owners of AstroWorld prior to that year.
