Tips for Living with Crutches after Surgery!
Просмотров 63 тыс.4 года назад
After hip impingement or labral repair surgery, you'll need A LOT of help with simple things around the house like going up and down the stairs, showering, cleaning, etc. But sometimes you don't have that help, or you just want to be more independent. I've created a few hacks to help you live independently while on crutches for those first few weeks after surgery.
What to Expect from Hip Arthroscopy Labral Tear Repair Surgery / FAI
Просмотров 54 тыс.4 года назад
On June 17th I got hip arthroscopy for a labral tear and impingement and this is my experience and recovery story. Hopefully, this will be helpful for anyone thinking about getting the surgery or is preparing to get it soon. Women who workout should be aware of this type of injury because it happens slowly over time with squats. Follow my channel for more content on how this injury happens and ...
Signs of a Hip Impingement and How to Prevent Damage to Your Joints When You Squat!
Просмотров 2 тыс.4 года назад
Listen up! Once the gyms start opening up again, don't rush into your old routine without learning if you're at risk for this injury! Squatting is the #1 most risky exercise you can do in the gym. After 4 years of squatting, I started to develop hip pain and was diagnosed with labral tears and a hip impingement. A hip impingement could cause damage to your hip joints or "labrum" over time witho...

You Can SERIOUSLY Injure Yourself Squatting if You Have This Hip Shape
Просмотров 1,8 тыс.4 года назад
We're all out here striving to build the booty, but you could be doing more harm than good. Even if you've been squatting in the gym for years, you might be damaging your hip joints without even knowing. I started noticing hip pain after 4-5 years of lifting weights and was told by my doctor I had a labral tear. This was a result of a hip impingement and an anterior pelvic tilt (from being quad...

Yeah pain meds make you feel wide awake, that's part of the high. You feel wide awake like you're on a warm summer day with wind blowing in your face, and you can just enjoy your thoughts. They're extremely insidious and don't make you feel messed up until you do a really large dose, it's why people don't take it seriously and get addicted.

Nothing much but would like to know if in your opinion arthroscopy really helps and will let the patient be as normal as before based on your own experience.

I have been in pain for 2 years, 3 doctors later they found I have a labral tear with a cyst wedging into it..... I had a steroid injection done under X-ray and it didn't do anything to the pain. So I go back next Wednesday to discuss further actions like surgery because this pain is excruciating!!!! Thank you for making this look smoothly as possible

It is dangerous to stand on one leg to shower because one can slip and fall as soon as the tub gets wet and slippery. It is best to have a non-slip stool in the tub to kneel the fractured foot on for balance or to sit on while washing.

This. She has great safe techniques for the stairs, but nobody should ever encourage standing on one leg in the shower - shower stool always!

Not sure if you are still rehabbing... if things have improved... or if you are still struggling. I was browsing trying to find an actual procedural video and came across your videos. I am about 9 1/2 years out from FAI surgery- labral debridement, CAM osteoplasty, synovectomy, iliopsoas lengthening. An acetabular fracture actually preceded my diagnosis... the fracture healed but my pain never went away, and my workup found a labral tear and CAM defect. About 10 months after my surgery I pivoted quickly and retore my labrum. And since then I have dealt with recurrent flares of pain in my hip. I just never sought additional treatment because I was always pregnant, trying to get pregnant, breastfeeding... life was just too busy. About a year ago I went through about 3 months where I could barely walk or get up from a sitting position because my hip hurt so bad and was so unstable. By the time I made it to my surgeon the pain had resolved. But knowing it was only going to be a matter of time before it flared again I decided to continue my workup and pursue definitive treatment.my MR arthrogram showed another labral tear, and the CAM deformity had either come back, or wasn't completely fixed in the first place. And the work they did on my iliopsoas muscle has contributed to my instability. I have virtually no labrum yet. He said it will be about 15 years before someone will offer me a hip replacement because I don't have enough arthritis, and the window of opportunity that I have for him to be able to help me with labral reconstruction with a cadaver graft and redo CAM osteoplasty is closing. I can't imagine being in this amount of pain and not being able to function normally for the next 15 years, but I'm so afraid of having surgery and not being any better off than when I started. I gave up long distance running after my first surgery and went into weight lifting instead and I love it. If I can't do that either then.... what do I have. I totally understand the depression and anxiety aspect of the whole situation. it's so frustrating feeling so limited. I hope that you have found answer and pain relief!

One thing I noticed to be hard is just overall getting food or water. I can't eat anywhere near where I would have to make food and since I'm using both hands on the crutches I can't bring the food or drink anywhere

    • @m.taylor
      @m.taylor 6 месяцев назад

I used a small wooden dolly that I taped a cutting board onto to fill the hole. I placed my food dishes or any items on top of the board/dolly and as I walked, I would use one crutch to gently push the dolly along the floor to bring these things into the other room. I also wore an apron with big pockets that I can carry a small bottle of water in.

Hey. I’m looking at 12 full weeks of total non-weight bearing on crutches and my husband works more than full time. I fractured my tibial plateau. I have had a long crutching period before but that was 10 years ago. I was stronger and younger, had a different house + wheelchair. I’m also living way out in the country now and don’t have Uber or grocery delivery so working on how to manage all sorts of daily things. Fanny pack is a good idea,I use a backpack and grocery bags for carrying or moving everything. I’m a little frightened about getting in/out of the shower and still haven’t figured out how to wash my dogs but I’ll figure it out. Any good tips on butt pain sitting in bed?
