The Private Life Of Sherlock Holmes -- Holmes turns down an indecent proposal
Просмотров 71 тыс.15 лет назад
Holmes explains that he may be a bachelor, but he has been living with another bachelor for the last five years. Five very happy years. (From the 1970 film, The Private Life Of Sherlock Holmes.)

İm in the thick of it everybody knows
from the screen to the ring to the pen to the king
I absolutely love the gay / aroace icon that is Sherlock Holmes. Whether or not you ship him and Watson romantically or in any other way, he does care for his best friend a lot more than what would be considered "normal"; and as an aromantic, despite the fact that I may not want a QPR myself nor a romantic relationship, I know other aspecs that have them or want them and it's basically the "that's my person/people (non-romantic)" and like other kinds of committed relationships nothing can change that, unless certain things have already been agreed upon within said relationship - and I can understand that because that is how I view some of the people within my life despite it not being queer-platonic.
Sherlock was asexual
I love the way Holmes chokes on the drink and how his voice cracks over “surely there are other men?!” 😅 GET MY MAN OUT OF THERE, LOL. I like how the moment he realizes a dad isn’t actively missing he immediately gives the man a side eye and grimace, probably wondering where the hell this is about to go. I find the Tchaikovsky thing highly amusing, and the various famous people they went to. Sherlock is probably thinking “god, please don’t let this lead to me xD” I am wondering HOW this movie got made in the 70’s holy moly. Sherlock’s smile after he says “Tchaikovsky is not an isolated case” is the very definition of :3
Der Film ist großartig, aber Wilder hat ihn verstümmelt. Mindestens 2 Episoden ( Fälle ) hat er herausgeschnitten. Einfach nur schade !
We’re all bleeders 😭
Talented guy, Chris Langham. I wonder what became of him
Late irish actor had a beautiful timbre vocal....also because he estudied diction too
Perhaps cristopher lee was more suitable for playing sherlock holmes's character
One of few good scenes about movie to me
This is very well written, and an excellent example of Johnlock
Sherlock just lied to get out from bad situation
that is why teachers are on strike. in the state sector, it is exactly that life to the note.
Pretty much ever new father
The fucking balls on that dude holy shit
"madame says not to worry, she will not scratch you" why do i find that line so funny kdjsjdjs
YOU GO CAROL 👍
Is that normal? .... It's sad hahahahahaha
sherliam-
I remember this, so disgusting lmao
I dont get why people convince for this version Holmes was gay. Because Holmes just use Watson for excuse from this conversation. Holmes found the love of his life in this story and she was dead. This like a gay joke.
The guy who made the film said that he tried to make Sherlock gay- its just that, for the time, there wasn't much he could do
Nah, he sees the spy as more of an Irene Adler situation, interesting in an intellectual sense but not love
If anyone’s wondering what’s she said in the end: -What is he talking about? How is Tchaikovsky connected to it? -He’s gay -Another one?! It’s getting monotonous! You’re such an idiot!
I like this movie. Holmes is not a misogynist. He's a private detective.
It sound like a euphemism
another thing that makes me so happy abt this is the fact that they added tchaikovsky in the conversation bc he's been rumored to be gay irl
When I heard "It is heavily implied that Sherlock is gay in Private Life of Sherlock Holmes", I didn't think that he would just straight up say "I'M IN LOVE WITH WATSON, AND I'M JUST AS GAY AS TCHAIKOVSKY" Also for me, as a Russian person, is such a delight to hear thus excellent Russian speech. Hollywood could never.
It's not really clear whether he's telling the truth or not. The movie leaves Holmes as something of an enigma.
Tamara Toumanova was born in Russia but moved to France as a child. She grew up in a totally Russian-speaking environment, including her main ballet teacher, Olga Preobrajenska, who was one of the great prima ballerinas of the Imperial Ballet in St. Petersburg.
Ehh.. you'd have to watch the movie. Sherlock kind of just makes this up to get out of this situation, and Watson gets REALLY upset over it because it's a lie that could hurt his career. They're not really meant to be gay, but they definitely do act like an old married couple throughout the movie. But, then, one can't stop anyone else from interpreting things as they like ;)
women are my glass of tea💃
I love how Sherlock isn't sure what to say...until Watson came in. When he saw the man he loved he knew exactly what to say.
actually it was just an idea that came to him.. to use john to get out of the situation,
@@Romance_dream_ the grace of fiction is that, if it has not been explained in the smallest detail so as not to leave anyone in doubt, then everyone can interpret it as see fit. So, there is no "more correct here", it's just a matter of interpretation of the scene. You see it as a funny ruse for comic relief. The other person as a true and obvious confession of love. There is no problem for me to see it that way. The most important thing is to respect the opinion of others without prejudice, even if this opinion is not in line with yours.
Autism kicks
“At least I’ve made something.” LMAO What a pitiful minister! He just looks pitiful before he opens his mouth!
The first time I saw this, I couldn't believe it, it was so funny.
five very happy years...
Brilliant scene! I think a lot of people are missing the point. Sherlock is asexual but can't find a polite way to turn the lady down so he does some quick thinking. I REALLY have to watch the movie now though, it looks hilarious!
I don't think they are missing the point by assuming Sherlock is gay in this interpretation and if you take the word of god (i.e the director) then Sherlock IS gay in this film. As it is, however, it's clear that Sherlock is very much Not Straight and whether it be he is asexual or gay is down to personal preference and besides one can be asexual and still possess romantic attraction for the same sex.
I agree he’s asexual in the canon, but in this adaptation he’s definitely gay lol
"НаЛеЙтЕ ВоДкИ и ОбЪяСнИтЕ еМу, В ЧёМ дЕлО"😂😂😂 "За ЗдОрОвЬе"😂😂😂 "СКАЖИТЕ ЕМУ, ЧТО Я ОЧЕНЬ ДОВОЛЬНА ЭТИМ РЕШЕНИЕМ"😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 можно отметить, что у неё не такой уж и сильный акцент🤔
Wow... I wasn't ready for this much gayness, holy shit 😂
Lmao
there is just one word to explain it: johnlock
I love this so much, help!!! Saw this years ago, stilllove how Ruby sounds like Robbie
brilliant version. Hysterical
Hopefully this is another ploy used by Sherlock to release himself of any duty... the real Sherlock wasn't as are most intelligently smart men
Being gay means you cant be intelligent? Lmfao you're delusional
I've never seen Sherlock with so much makeup, and I've seen Sherlock BBC, and Basil Rathborne.
they could have picked a better looking ballerina. she does look 50+
She was a real Russian Ballerina though, so they chose her

This proves that a lot of smart people are homosexuals. I’m dumb so
Does Watson know? I dont think Watson knows for some reason
Is that me or she looks like Michael Jackson
He's right. Reading the New Statesman would give anyone immediate, persistent constipation.
"He is your glass of tea"? Greatest Sherlock Holmes Film, in the way that it subverts the mythos
This guy
“women. not his glass of tea.” lmao i can’t
In BBC series he basically say the same thing
@@alexf225 “girlfriend... no, not really my area” xdd
