When I am finishing a wire inlayed handle, I use TruOil to seal it. In this video I show the process I go through to get a slick, clean finish, using a method called rubbing out. Thanks for the likes and for subscribing.
Raising and sanding wood grain

I go through this process when I use unstablized woods such as this curly maple. It helps me get a better finish on my knife handles.

Beautiful work but not a very informative vid for newbies. E.g. I would have liked to see closeup views of what you're doing with the chisels.

You should do a 1-2 minute video of chalk drawing of whole process and include the cross section in the lineup as a visual. That is worth a video of its own.

What finish do you use over your wire inlays that does not yellow? I have so much trouble with polyurethane and stuff like that yellowing.

What I've done for spoons that I picked up from watching canoe paddles made is to use a grit, then run a damp cloth going downhill with the grain to take dust out of the pores and raise the fibers, then use a finer grit, repeat till you're happy or tired.

You add flux when it is red hot, before scale forms but hot enough to melt the flux. If you add it when it is to temp there is no way your flux is faster than oxygen so scale will form and you will have failures. Also, you only need a small amount to coat the steel. Forge On!!!
