Calisthenics has a major limitation in that you can’t train legs as well, don’t worry if you don’t have weights you can still get pretty strong legs but barbell squats are deadlifts are impossible to beat with calisthenics. Good tips man. And what that other guy said. Start posting ypur physique. If you have issue showing face then show neck down.
@@rahul-qm9fi focusing on final exams rn but appreciate the advice
bro you should start uploading your physique, your channel will definetly blow up then
Good points. I have the perfect build for calisthenics. However, I lift and have developed a good amount of muscle especially thicker legs that make skill movements harder, I do 2 leg days per week. But I love lifting and still do chin-ups and dips in my workouts because they're awesome.
That’s cool and all but how do I start from zero? Not being able to even do 1 pull-up
Do timed negative reps where you stay at the top for a certain amount of seconds and slowly lower yourself down. Get to the top of the rep by jumping to get your chin above the bar. Progressively overload this by staying at the top for longer and coming down slower (spend more seconds doing each part). I’m doing this whole process trying to get a one arm pullup so it should work for you aswell. Another way is doing Bodyweight rows and slowly make the exercise harder by doing rows in an upright position (pulling to bar at chest) to eventually being parallel to the ground. This makes your pulling strength way stronger. If you got resistance bands use them instead to gradually assist yourself with less and less weight overtime until you can do a rep unassisted.
Ay thanks bro, I didn't know you made a video about my comment. Will definitely start incorporating greasing the groove for pull ups with a higher frequency from now on. What do you think about doing the same thing (greasing the groove) with dips as well? Thanks bro
yeah it would work the same, probably do more reps per set since dips are a bit easier
@@pullupspaki got it thanks bro
Great content bro!
thank you brother
Summary - Don’t undershoot your calories, actually track them - Eat in the range of 0.7g-1.0g/lb protein - Have more meals instead of less, aim for 4-5 and try have a big breakfast
This is why I preach weighted calistenics for building muscle. Weighted pull up, dips and weighted squats which is just barbell squat.
How do you properly add in progressive overload in terms of adding sets and/or reps since your max reps of an exercise vary from day to day sometimes? Should I js add reps per 1-2 weeks but not per session?
Once you know your max reps, that number is irrelevant. You only use your max reps as a guide for how many reps you start with on week one of GTG and then you add onto that. Use your max reps on a good day and half that. If you're greasing the groove at worst you'll still progress every 4-5 days however adding a rep every week is still fine. Ill make a video on this aswell
this is great brother
broscience on another level
"I currently do 20 pull-ups, 4 times a week, and I'm 18 years old. I'm wondering how to determine when to increase the number of pull-ups or reps in any exercise. Sometimes, I feel highly motivated and exceed my goals, but I struggle to maintain that level of performance on other days. How can I consistently challenge myself and make progress? Great videos, by the way!"
Eat more (good food) and sleep more. You'll increase automatically
Either get stronger, get lighter or have better technique to do more pull-ups. Motivation for me is kinda on and off aswell but make sure on your bad days you don’t do nothing, as long as you do even one set of an exercise on the day you feel like doing nothing, that’s progress
@@pullupspaki great advice I will follow that
Been trying it since 3 years very inconsistently why doesnt it work would rather kill myself than going exercising everyday
what specifically do you hate about exercise (takes too much time, too much intensity, boring etc)
might be clickbait title but it got more traction compared to your other uploads so keep doing doing it bro lol

Hey bro I also do weightlifting and I'm not sure how to incorporate pull ups into my training because I want to be able to do more pull ups but I feel like training it everyday (greasing the groove) will just fatigue my back for weightlifting. Currently I can do 9 pull ups but I wish I could do way more. Do you think doing pull ups once a week greasing the groove is good enough. Usually I do my rows on Tuesdays and more rows on Saturday but I think I should just replace the rows on Saturday with pull ups. 4 sets each set greasing the groove like you said?
Greasing the groove won’t fatigue your back if you stay below 50% of your max reps(doing less reps per set as you fatigue throughout the day), you personally should do sets of 5,4 and even 3 depending on how you feel throughout the day Pull ups once a week is better than nothing but you need to do GTG 4 or more days per week, since your not maxing out 7 days a week is ideal. Once a week isnt enough. GTG needs high frequency and low intensity, keep the frequency as high as you can.
Algorithm is popping up your videos. Wish you success 🏆🏆🏆

My max is 50 in one set as of 3 months ago haha
Im South Asian, and ill say weight training makes for better aesthetic gains than calisthenics. I trained with a cali crew for years and my physique always stood out the most. I can hold a back lever for 30 seconds, weighted pull ups easy, HSPUs, 77kg, 5"8. But i prefer bodybuilding + bulking, and people notice my size and physique. Imo weight training is better for SA as it makes us appear bigger and stronger. With cali you can just do cool moves and physique wont be noticable unless naked
congrats on your calisthenics skill!, personally ive gotten a pretty good amount of recognition / respect/ etc for my physique which was built from purely weighted calisthenics until mid 2022 and i was also bulking at the same time. The only thing that mattered for me was training consistency, intensity and volume and it didnt matter what method i trained with. Youll still look jacked if you bulk + do the above 3 things with any form of training. Personally i enjoy switching from calisthenics to weights focused training and vice versa every 8-9 months to keep things fresh. Thanks for the feedback bro!

Why not do both?
if you have the option to easily do both, do weighted calisthenics for upper body and barbell training for legs
Bro if you keep training in gym you will progress faster and look better than any calisthenics bs
yeah and not having functional strength 🤣 and most people who do calisthenics don't have a big physique because they have to maintain a light body for advanced movements, but for those who don't care about advanced movements, they can have an incredible physique 🤦♂ calisthenics>>>>>>
@@JorgeBartolomeuCosta If you want to grow muscles, gym is the best. They mantain a light physique cause calisthenics will not grow muscles like gym and thats okay, its 2 different activities with different goals
Faster progress is a stretch. Same w/ looking better. If you look at what women actually want, they don't like big muscles after a certain point. Bodybuilding makes you eye-candy for the homies. Gymnastics-type builds make you appealing to everyone
@@JorgeBartolomeuCosta What do you mean not have functional strength, every boxer and fighter that goes to gym hits harder because they used gym. You really don't understand the notion of functional strength because every strength is functional except when guys do steroids and lose some agility and can't run as much. ALL THINGS ABOUT FUNCTIONAL STRENTGH is PURE CALISTENICS COPE, just because you know some tricks on the pullup bar it doesn't mean that is strength that's mostly technique like how muscle ups are
@@tumultoustortellini Do you realise that women like natural peak physique, not the steroid gigantic one that you are brainwashed with. ALSO DO YOU TRAIN JUST FOR GETTING ASS, not about being more imposing, u are pathetic.
Right arguments, but since you didn't specify the metrics by which it's best, wrong conclusions. Better for what? Functional strength and fitness? Simply, since you explained it, yes. Better, but still not optimal by itself and nothing else if you want overall fitness and strength Overall strength? Powerlifting, obviously. Aesthetics? Bodybuilding. Aim, purpose and structure of bodybuilding is to mold and shape the body in whichever way one wants. Your set goals determine your approach/structure, which through succesfull implementation determines your results/looks. Even calisthenics can be a part of a bodybuilding program, it just isn't common. You know why? Because it's not optimal for aesthetics, which is literally the only thing being judged in bodybuilding competitions.
Thanks for the breakdown, right now I’m planning a video on what style of training you should pick based on your situation/equipment, ahead of time I’ll let you know im probably going to be biased towards calisthenics but I’ll try to be pretty objective and factual. I realise i’ve got to make it since I see the comment about the problems with calisthenics and I agree with most of them so I’ll discuss all the limitations soon
I'm not a black boy, very white on the contrary but calisthenics is king because once you can move your body around all the real weights become light work
Why not address the mix of both. If your goal is muscle, isolation in a conventional gym cannot be beat. If it is functionally, use both to train stabilization but also strength and endurance. Of course use what is available to you. But never limit yourself to an ideology or the perception of others. I could write about the time commitment factor, authenticity of creators, etc. but I do not want to make this too long. None is better than what works for you
yeah i agree, if time and money is not a limitation the ideal is weighted calisthenics with barbell training for legs but if your limited theres no reason you cant make progress as good with just calisthenics
agreed, about 75% of my fitness progress has been due to calisthenics dare i say 80 but i guess the only real con of calisthenics is training legs.
Why limit yourself to calisthenics. You can do both. Finances can limit, but if you’re in the US there’s multiple options that are $10 a month. Time and financials are the only detrimental things that can limit you from an actual gym. I find a lot of people invested in calisthenics are obsessed with an ideology or ego-lift in insecurity and don’t see progress. To make fitness progress, the best thing is to obsess in achieving your goals through your available means and prioritize form. The style doesn’t attribute to anything, and can limit you
@@sayum8155I understand that, the best is obviously a hybdrid but my preferred style of training will always be calisthenics. i really only lift weights for shoulders, legs and to supplement my back work.
I can only do 3 pullups WITH the band bro, how i do sets of 1.5 pullups 😅
do 10-15 sets of 2 reps with the band throughout the day, also train the part of the pullup you struggle with most (even its only for 2-3 reps)
@@pullupspaki Ah ok, thanks
So funny seeing the after photo taken in the gym. Also what the fuck is with the racism? Why is it specifically better for asians and africans? Any sort of data on that other than 'trust me bro'? Also Authenticity in Content is the exact opposite. Calisthenics guys are people on steroids that go to the gym every day. Saying they only do Calisthenics and of course stating that they are natural. At least bodybuilders are open about their drug use nowadays. Many calisthenics influencers are just trying to get rich off a trend. Honestly you haven't made a single valid argument.
Summary: be humble.
yeah, be humble to allow yourself to be comfortable being the small fish in a big pond while you keep improving
Who pays 20 bucks per week for a gym membership? In the Netherlands it's roughly 25 bucks a month, unlimited acces.
In australia $20 a week is pretty average and the minimum of what you pay for some free squat racks

Training with gym rings was life changing for me as I was not allowed to go gym in the past.
Are they worth it, I’m thinking of getting rings aswell for easier rows and ring pull-ups/pushups
@pullupspaki They are definitely since they are pretty cheap and you can do like every exercise on it and leverage the difficulty.
Aye the boy is back my max pull ups is at 11 now
Great improvement bro, I know you can get to 16 reps before august ends
NGL if I see a 70kg guy benchign 120 its hella impressive im 105 and can barely bench 100kg for 1 rep
I agree with you but I feel like our brains think big weight = better, also 100kg is still very strong
Hey Personnally i Can afford a gym menbership. So i cycle between hypertrophy (where i do mainly dropset to save Time) and strength (weighted calisthenic IS king here Imo)
Yeah fully agree, weighted calisthenics is the best way to get the pros of gym and bodyweight workouts
@@pullupspaki the main thing that make me buy a menbership was to be able to Squat heavy because it was hard to overload the legs. I could do about 10 pistols with 20kg so it was hard to grow my legs (had to mix rest and pause AND dropset 😭🤣).
@@alexandrenedellec7116 yeah training legs with body weight when your advanced gets hella annoying cos you gotta do sm random exercises, I’m lucky I skip legs often enough to not have that problem yet
@@pullupspaki bro your back looks like it's from an anime but You Don't have strong legs? I Don't think we have the same criteria if strong😭🤣🤣
nah I’m genuinely grateful I read this, I’ve been coping by saying football trains my legs enough
I’m 16, when I first started my weight loss journey early this year, I didn’t do calisthenics. But every since last month, I would occasionally do it because I can bench 50 kg for 10 - 12 reps (I’m currently 81 kg, I lost about 13 kg in 7 months). So it enabled me to do push ups without feeling weak on the 4 th rep. Tho I can’t do pull ups, I do try to improve my pull up strength
