Gymnastics just got worse. The only positive here is the vault deduction. Everything else is just terrible change. Still no Wolf Turn downgrade so beam stays the most boring and ugliest event.

I am considering a possible exploit for the vault bonus: Gymnasts who round-off and twist in opposite directions can perform a fully rotated Cheng, then over-rotate a little in the second vault to make it a Shirai 3. As the first vault is Yurchenko half and the second is Yurchenko full, they can get 0.2 bonus.

This is not how the vault bonus is being applied. The code says very clearly that the bonus will be added to the average of the two vaults, not to the first vault score. It will not change anyone’s all-around score.

Why decrease the value of release moves with a half turn. It looks so difficult, and its so beautiful to watch.

Finally, it was time! The gymnast is a sport that deducted everything and closed the eyes to this one at the entrance on half on vaults is ridiculous, 0.3 is a big deduction and make a big difference on final results, and if a gymnast can do it perfectly, there has to be the deducted!

Is this for elite, dp, xcel or all gymnastics?

The downgrade of half turn releases on bars will be introduced only because judges don't want to have the responsability to separate releases with real half turns from those where the turns initiate after grabbing the bar. So they'll just make everything a D and not need to decide anymore. We can say goodbye to real half turning releases, everyone and their grandma will do the "twist after grabbing the bar" version. Thank you FIG.

There's so many things that could be done to improve gymnastics - far better ideas than this. There's a serious lack of creative thinking. Aerobic gymnastics is stuck in the 80s and ignored. Acrobatic gymnastics is ignored but would be very popular with spectators if given a chance. Tumbling and trampoline events are still treated like the ugly sister of artistic gymnastics ... And for no good reason at all. And meanwhile the points system in artistic gymnastics is incredibly difficult for spectators to follow and has decreased the amount of creativity in the sport. There was so much more drama in high level gymnastics events back in the 80s and earlier. Ok, yes, dangerous moves should be discouraged, even when they look amazing. Yes, political judging needed to be eliminated. But they've gone way too far.

I think the Ganer and double twist dismounts off beam should be prohibited. Those dismounts are not difficult enough. And no I can’t do either. I’m just saying the obvious.

I miss indirect floor tumbling passes! It's giving 2009-2012 COP. Thank goodness for limiting jaegers to one but He Kexin's routine is perfect. I think only a second jaeger should be done but only on the same bar and in succession or connected to a transition (like a Pak salto).

But Jade didnt do 2 vaults from 2 different families. She did 2 Yurchenko entry variations. She would have to do a handspring or half on entry.

What is the value of Lilia Pod’s first tumble? I think it was all front tumbling into a double front with a half. I think that’s what it was. Don’t really see any one doing that one or Aly Raismans first pass.

Not a fan of the downgrade of half-turn releases. They literally have the same score as the normal variants, so why would anyone perform a half-turn when you can simply do the normal element? There’s literally no incentive, apart from some possible bar connections? I think this will result in very similar bar compositions which at the end hinders originality smh.
