Swan Lake 1953. Mona Inglesby and Ernest Hewitt with the International Ballet
This is a Spanish Film made in 1953. It shows a cinematographic version of the first Lakeside scene with members of the International Ballet. I helped rediscover this footage. Odette: Mona Inglesby. Prince Siegfried: Ernest Hewitt I have edited this footage due to these reasons: Slight moments are out of sync. The image of the film was flipped to the other side in the original so I have changed...

Where did you find this precious recording? Is more of the ballet available somewhere?
The ballon, the batterie. My calves are burnin' just thinking about it. Yet such charm and lightness. What a gem this is.

Staatsballett Berlin: La Bayadère - Petipa and Ratmansky (2018)
what a horror, neither the costumes nor the decorations have anything to do with India, it reminds me a lot of China or Indochina, the finale is not in our country, and for those who like the maskka ballet version, it is his soviet one, check out the Ratmasky ballet in Berlin, you will see the authentic version there
13:21 paquita female variation used as solar entrance variation?? 26:36 I’ve never seen this variation in la bayadera before does anyone know where it’s from? It’s different than bolshoi’s gamzatti entrance. Afterward in the grand pas gamzatti does another mysterious variation that I’ve never seen before…. Who choreographed this production?
The grand pas variation is from Le Talisman, its a male variation from act 2. I don't know where is from the first Gamzatti variation though...
@@theoriginalfreremarto9432 thank you, that’s why that music sounded so familiar…
@@madelinepopr You're welcome !
Someone was rather sewing her shoes? How stupid!
Its quite refreshing to put men in the pas de trio before the wedding Grand PDD, but they should’t wear a pajama pant🧐
Gracias por compartir este tesoro🤗❣️
Dancers are lovely but this production is a joke! It’s all over the place!!!
Fabulous

These gents were truly the best of their time
How on earth did get hold on that?! Thanks for sharing.
So beautiful. Can't wait to show my mother who is 90 this year and was a great fan. I'm interested in ballet history, and have often wondered why film was never utilised early on to record choreography. The Lumiere Brothers began in 1895, bang when Petipa, Ivanov, etc. were doing the Russian classics. One of the great might have beens were the plans to film the famous 1921 Diaghilev production of "The Sleeping Princess" then running at the Alhambra in London. The company's bankruptcy put paid to that. At least that meant the beautiful costumes have come down to us.
Even though the Danes no longer really dance the Bournanville ballets as they were originally danced, the dynamics remain the same. It is the beauty of ballet technique, somewhat like playing Bach on a piano. It is however consistent with danish culture. That fact may be difficult to appreciate until you go there.
Simplemente increíble
Do you possibky know who choreographed this "Cachucha" version and how the melody used in "Paquita" (pas -des-manteuax) appeared in this score?
Much more than technical skills and poses here is surprising the primitive choreography of the dance. It was post Bournonville and Marius Petipa era, when the most famous ballets had already happened, but Pavlova was doing some random pas and jumps like she was improvising
Wonderful - thank you dear Juan :)
Damn i thought it was Vladimir Vasiliev
How beautiful! I have danced in the Pas de Trois, but did not know about the other scenes of the ballet. Thank you!
Great dancers. It takes extremely talented artists to pull off this horrible and uncomfortable choreography. Just bunch of combinations taken from different ballets. You have to kiss the feet of dancers that make it look better than it really is.
I’d love to have a conversation with you…I think the choreography and themes of this ballet need an overhaul. As for this dance, not sure what their motivation is here….all show no substance! And what was the slide all about…just weird?!
Perfect❤🎯🩰
What a beautiful show by Germany artists.
Funny this dancer does not play the castanets. When we learn Bolera Style dance, we do play the castanets. :)
I can see where liszt got his inspiration for his ''Grosse Konzertfantasie über spanische Weisen''. If you havn't listened to it, you must do so!
I wonder what she thought of Marly floors having spent her entire career on wood floors.
A treasure.
Danilova took class every day at noon with Nina Stroganova at Ballet Arts, that is why she is in such good condition.
"Think about the variation..." that girl was late on every beat, responding to the music, not with it or leading it, so when she finished it was all after it was over.
And? 🙄
I can't stand the ways Balanchine altered good technique.
Bene, bravi.❤
What an adorable lady!!! I am sure she still graces and inspires the dancers at SAB❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
She passed on July 13, 1997. 🙏❤️🙏
@@IceAintNice Thank you. I know she has passed, but her spirit still graces NYCB’s studios. Best 💐💐💐💐💝

My mum danced with the International Ballet company and was a ballet student with their school. She knew Miss Inglesby very well. I trained under one of the ballet companies Principal soloists in the 80s. Madame Bridget Espinosa.❤❤
Thank you for this work. I have an autographed photo from Ms. Danilova in the classic Swan Lake image that you've posted as the opening title.
