I realize I've covered some of this before, but I'm discovering that some of the users are using the new interface so that occasionally updating a tutorial adds clarity to those who have not been around for a while. It is sometimes challenging to describe something novel and totally new to the channel after so many tutorials. --Jim

What do you mean by "speed". Is it how long the rendering takes? How many frames per second? What are you thinking about? --Jim

@@powerdirectorworkshop6999 Yes I should have given more details. I was thinking relative to older / previous versions with the same output settings. I started running PowerDirector with version 10. As I upgraded to a newer version I would find sometimes the file would be produced faster and another version slightly slower with the exact same settings. I recently tried another Video editor and it would take longer and the final video was a larger file size with the almost identical settings as PowerDirector.

There are a number of variables in the settings that can impact both the rendering speed and the file size. Some of it is tied to your hardware as well. I can't offer accurate estimates on various versions of PowerDirector. Even if I could, they might not match your setup. There might be some benchmarks out there, but I wouldn't know where to find them. --Jim

Lots of changes in the last 12 months. I'm guessing they are done messing with most of the interface for a while. I've faced the same challenges with other types of software, so I expect this kind of challenge from time to time. --Jim

Okay, I got some more text in the same title and was able to change it to a different font. However, I'm trying to apply a special effect from the Styles tab to just one word of the title and it keeps applying it to all the words in the title. Any hints?

That is a great question. The special effects tool works with an entire title, and not just a word. To work around that, you can put multiple titles on the screen in the same font and make one of them a single word. You can turn on the grid lines to align them so that it looks like one title on the screen. --Jim

Sorry to hear about your issues. There could be a host of issues colliding with your install of PowerDirector. You might want to make sure your video driver is up to date. That is always a good place to start. Another option is to go to Cyberlink and report your issue. You can do that by clicking on the FILE menu at the top and then choose "rate us and provide suggestions" to submit an issue. Another option is to go to the Cyberlink Forum website and report the problem there. These might be some useful first steps in addressing your issue. --Jim

There is no doubt that Cyberlink has handled the changes in the new release badly. I wish they had been more aggressive in preserving the functionality of the previous version in their updates. I've been using all kinds of software long enough to be able to cope with major interface changes. And I do like some of the changes. My hope is that the decision makers at Cyberlink will look more closely at the feedback from long-term users and pay more attention to workflow and efficiency. --Jim

The initial reaction from me and many others was largely negative. They have fixed some of the most serious issues since the product release, and restored some of the features that caused the greatest concern. I agree this was not handled wisely at the beginning. I hope they listen better as well. --Jim

What do you mean by 'choppy'? What are the parameters in your production--resolution and frame rate? If you produce a video in a different format like MP4 do you have the same results?

@powerdirectorworkshop6999 so it only seems to be doing it with 1 wmv file so far which is weird..so choppy/like its muted then unmuted like crackling etc....works fine in the preview its just when it's exported...I don't know why it's only doing with that 1...the frame rate of the video u mean it auto adjust it

It sounds like this only happens when you are exporting to WMV. Is there a reason you can't export to MP4? That's a lot more common today. You can contact support by clicking on the FILE menu at the top, and then choose "Rade us and provide suggestions" to see if Cyberlink itself will respond. --Jim

That is odd. I don't have any special insight as to why that is happening. There are so many variables you are working with on your setup that I can't know or duplicate for myself. You might also check out the Cyberlink Form and see what you can learn there. --Jim

I have had the current version for 8 months. It has proven stable for me. They made some changes in the interface that upset seasoned users. Some of the shortcomings have been fixed since. --Jim

You will have to check the Cyberlink website about their sales and refund policy. I don't know the current details. --Jim

PowerDirector365 is the name of the subscription version of PowerDirector. It is not related in any way to Microsoft Office 365. It's just a label Cyberlink Adopted to distingish it from the other versions you purchase called PowerDirector Ultimate and PowerDirector Ultra. With those versions you "own" the program perpetually and don't have to update. With PowerDirector365 you subscribe and ceases to work when your subscription expires. Hope this helps. --Jim

There is no Windows 365. PowerDirector 365 is the subscription version of PowerDirector. If you have PowerDirector Ultra or PowerDirector Ultimate you have the standard versions of the program. PowerDirector 365 updates monthly. The standard versions update annually, usually in September. --Jim
