You mention 5 consecutive days, so if I use for 4 days and take 3 days off then set sail within 12 miles can I get 5 more days or is it only 5 days a month, unclear if you could let me know ? Thanks Nick
My interpretation of it is they are only counting the consecutive days- so restarts each time. But def read that fine print in the plan 🧐
Many thanks and have a great new year 🎉
If you go into Cambridge creek the is free dockage by Snappers , against the concrete wall
thanks good to know!
Shoutout from Baltimore! We spend a lot of time this past season cruising on the Chesapeake, and used Argo along with a few other navigation apps. I do prefer Argo, but you now have to upgrade to premium in order to use the autoroute feature, which I think is indespensible.
Hello!!👋 yeah agree autoroute is essential
As a recent subcontractor, to the Premium - I'd be keen to get your thoughts on how many downloaded are needed to get your charts in place for a reasonably broad area.
I’ve never had any issues downloading charts just takes up a bit more memory on your phone - but check with Argo for more info
Worst thing ever put on my boat Vitrifigo 115 work fine 6 months.
Oh sorry to hear- year 2 and we still love ours
Great video still, thanks Captain
Capt Rob is the best!
Could you use off road diesel? The fuel used in farm or construction equipment? From my understanding its juat a different color
Yeah I have no idea - we always fuel up at the marina but would think diesel fuel is the same?
thinking hard on getting this for my lobster boat but roam will not cut it for me i guess
depends how far offshore you plan to use it which service plan you’ll need, but there is one that costs a bit more for more offshore cruising
Thank you very much. That was a fantastic well done video.
Thanks appreciate that! Doing a follow up video soon too 😊
Made in Poland! :)
Yes! Love Galeon yachts
Is there a video how to discharge at sea?
Not from us.. we don’t boat far away from land to ever discharge. Pump out 👍
Nice, thank you!! One question though: I might have missed it, but where do you add the pink?
For the engines it goes run in via the flush cap on strainers, if that’s what you’re asking?
@@MyBoatLife sorry: AC drip pan for the condensation
Great video. Our new-to -us 400 Sea Ray Sedan bridge has Cat 3126 engines that look very similar to yours. What are your engines and HP? This will be my first attempt at winterizing a closed cooled system. Sure seems a lot easier than the raw water like our former boat. One other thing, I really would like to just pump compressed air through the system vs adding the pink stuff like I did on our old boat. My fear is that next season might take a while to get rid of the antifreeze taste. Thoughts? Thanks for sharing your experience and your videos!
Thanks for watching! Great boat you have and yes we have the same engines on our 410DA- CAT 3126… been doing our engines this way for years with no issues & once you have process down it’s easy. For water systems some people do the air but we prefer running pink through and knowing it’s protected from any trace of water. We flush it in the spring & use a product called Spring Fresh - works great. We have a few other videos on this - how we winterize & how we flush out in spring. Thanks for following & let’s hope winter goes fast!! 😊
One other question-I found that the mufflers on ours have a drain plug. Since they are so large and hold so much water, I think I am going to drain them before sending the antifreeze through. Do you drain yours? Do you open any other drains? oil cooler? Transmission cooler? Thanks.
@@moondog011 no we don’t drain it - the water gets displaced by the pink & running the engines pushes all that water out.
@@MyBoatLife Thank you again! I appreciate your help!
Galeon 500 Fly (2015) was the first production yacht to have it. The feature was created and applied on super yacht before that.
Yep probably right about super yachts using this first!
Hello! This video is very helpful, could you recommend a place to purchase the woven vinyl flooring. Did you send the measurements and they provided the product?
We bought it directly from Corinthian Marine - go to their website and you can select template for your boat - tons on file! They also confirm measurements with you too. Good luck - we love it!
The US abbreviation for Gasoline ‘gas’ can cause confusion it’s not a gas :)
there’s a lot of confusing words in the U.S. 😂
I do this also on twin mercs. Works like a charm
Yep pretty easy once you got your jig worked out!💪
Jetlag was winterized this weekend and haul out is on Wednesday. Going into heated storage and the new canvas will be started. Season went way too fast.
Wow that’s efficient. I’m sure we’ll still be sitting in the water for weeks before they pull us. Good luck with canvas!
You did not show the floor snap and how you attached that to your boat flooring? Was Glued, Screw in? If screwed was it sealed?
we used our existing snap posts that were in our floor from our old carpet - they are screwed in and if you needed to add any you will want to make sure you use marine sealant.
Ice on the birdbath this morn…
Yikes! yep winter is coming 😬
I wanted to know if you think the Starlink Mini would work for my boat. Its a Parker 2820 XLD and i fish and camp around the islands of Hawaii.
I think the mini is a good option - you don’t need to install it & there’s no extra router - WiFi is integrated so it’s more compact. There should be coverage around Hawaii - not too many areas without coverage. There’s a link to the mini in my description too 😊
here's the link to the Mini on West Marine - if you do end up buying it we make a small commission :) www.pntra.com/t/8-12608-342566-233467?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.westmarine.com%2Fstarlink-mini-kit-21194634.html
sad weather just got nice !
It’s tough - 70’s one day then 30’s another morning - cold weather creeps up on you fast!
I winterize this weekend and haul out on the 23rd. Headed into heated storage this year so I can get new canvas.
Ohhh that sounds like it’s gonna be nice!! 🔥
@@MyBoatLife The new color is Captain Blue. It is the color Sea Ray uses on their newer boats. I have several projects I want to do over the winter and heated storage will allow me to do that.....at a cost of over $1,000 more than shrink wrapping.
Not until the weekend before Thanksgiving for me. I have 2 more sails planned.
Nice.. enjoy!! ⛵️
I bought my first boat and am a complete newbie. Your video was very informative. Thanks!
Thank you & congrats on your boat!! 👏👏
Congratulations! No one will ever figure out how you did that!
Sorry you found it confusing
Thanks, I learned something today, and ill save a lot of money, my marina wanted 700.00 to do this , i bought everything i needed and made those fittings like you have for 100.00 ! 👍
Awesome glad to help! This is absolutely something you can do yourself every year- save money & have piece of mind it’s done right! 👏
It appears that the new plans they are introducing now on their website say that we would need the boat priority plan in order to have coverage and use it while in motion on the water even within coastal waters. In fact, they say you will only have stationary use while at a marina. So, I'm understanding that if we are moving at all in the water, we need the boat priority plan unless we only want to use it while stationary at a marina. I'm just learning so I could be wrong.
Actually if you go to the FAQ page for Roam ($50/mo plan) it says: *In-motion use up to 100 Mph / 160 Kph *Coastal coverage (up to 12 nautical miles off the coast) in territorial waters where Starlink provides active coverage around the world for up to 5 consecutive days at a time and a total of 60 days over the course of a year most boaters are close to land/coastal so the Boat plan does not seem necessary unless you are using it constantly in motion or further off shore
Sailing from Darwin in Northern Australia around the East Coast to Melbourne, I will mostly be within 30nm of the mainland, but would it work if I was say 50nm offshore? Remote areas of Northern Australia included. Starlink coverage map says the entire continent of Australia says it has coverage. Slow data would be okay. Boat plan too pricey for a cruiser like me. Roam package?
Sounds amazing! You can see standard kit, but if you are that far offshore the Roam plan may not work for you - it says 15nm offshore and there are restrictions on how long you can use it offshore. So you would need the Boats plan for in motion & offshore use. Bit more expensive but according to their maps there appears to be coverage around Australia. I suppose you could *try the Roam & then upgrade if needed? Definitely read fine print in service plan faqs. Good luck - amazing adventure ahead!!
Can i use the standard antenna for maritime plans?i work on cargo ships 1000s of nm away from nearest land.whats your opinion of me buying this?@@MyBoatLife
you should be able to use the standard kit unless you need "mission critical connectivity" then they recommend the high performance kit (much more $) that is meant for larger ships/yachts. either way you'll definitely need the Boats service plan for in-motion & ocean use.
@@MyBoatLife 15nm is still under cell high speed network. Bummer they don't have a good offshore plan for recreation
Starlink New Low Price - $349 for standard kit (reg $499, now $349): www.pntrac.com/t/8-12608-342566-233467?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.westmarine.com%2Fstarlink-standard-kit-20988945.html Starlink also has the new Starlink Mini - slightly smaller & with integrated WiFi (no additional router): www.pjatr.com/t/8-12608-342566-233467?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.westmarine.com%2Fstarlink-mini-kit-21194634.html (we make a small commission from our partner West Marine if you purchase the kit through these links 😊)
It blows my mind this is the only review on your tube off this thing
We have this review from first season with it & the complete install video - happy to do a follow up video if people want - or are you saying that our video is the only review on RUclips - that may be!
Also, do you put fogging oil in the carburetors and spray into the cylinders? Thanks again
Our engines are fuel injection so they’re are no carburetors - if you have a boat with carbs then yes you should use fogging oil
It appears that you don’t need to bring the engines up to temperature to open the thermostat. Am I understanding this correctly? I have read that in order for the antifreeze to run through all the right places the thermostat needs to be open. Can you comment on that? Thanks!
The thermostat only needs to be open on raw water cooled engines where sea water running through the block. We have antifreeze in the block & only have to flush out the raw water side. This process is for closed cooling systems
How strong is this connection?
strong - Capt Rob is a 200 ton licensed captain who also does charters so he really knows his stuff
I hear this a lot about marina's wifi infrastructure, and one of the problem is that marinas are usually not setup properly as they ar not in the Internet business. I'm a network engineer with many low end and high end certifications, and years of experience, and I have typically setup customers that can potentially have this problem with a proxy server. A proxy server is a computer running on high quality softaware, installed locally, and what it does is that when people access the web, the proxy caches (stores) the page locally, and if anyone requests that same page (website), the proxy sends the cached page, and only requests any update to the page from the ISP, and sends the whole thing to an end user. Unless the marina gets bandwidth from a T1 or several T1s and higher, which I think they won't as they provide the Wifi service for "free", when the marina is full, the network will be bogged down, as there's not enough bandwidth for everybody. I could see if you're are on the hook and want to use the Starkink. I would too, and plan on do it on my boat, but marina Wifi's are a pain. On a side note, the proxy server acts as sor of a security device, as it's the only one that really cocnnects to the internet, the end users only get the data from the proxy, so only th proxy server IP address is exposed. This is 30+ year old technology that still works today, not sure why is seldom used. But this is not a network class.
If you have 5G coverage at the marina, try the T-Mobile or even Verizon whole home wifi towers. Just need 120vac outlet and you have wifi all over the boat and dock area. It moved with you but coverage will depend on the 5G map. 2 years with it at the dock and I work, stream, and use it for my Fire Tvs on the boat and its great. Turn it off in the winter. $50 month, unlimited.
Unfortunately we have Verizon but definitely don’t get 5G at our marina or almost everywhere we boat - coverage seems to be spotty at best- sounds like both that & starlink are $50/month.
Verizon is horrible in my area
@@YesHawaiiAdventures same!
Hence why I now have starlink along with 4/6G hotspot.

how was installation ?any cables to run into cabin or all wireless ?im about to install new sat tv antenna which I've had on last boat this looks interesting for my 370

Good info, thanks! Just curious which charts you use with your Garmin? I am trying to upgrade to Navionics+ on my Garmin 1243xsv.
Thanks for watching! we actually have a very old raymarine - on our list for upgrade
@@MyBoatLife I saw Garmin on your radar and assumed you were all Garmin. I upgraded to all Garmin with radar, chartplotter, VHF and Fusion stereo. Love it!
I have taken out every. single. screw. I could find, but the cabinet still wont come out. i even slid knife around to break any seals or glue. I have the new Vit fridge ready to go and the old fridge is already t the recycler, but i am stumped on the cabinet! Can you help me?
Is your boat a Sundancer or Express cruiser? We had to remove the cabinet on our Sundancer because we couldn’t get the old fridge out but from what I understand you can get the old out on the Express without removing the cabinet. For us there was one last screw hidden under the step there was a block of wood under the step & that supported the fridge so look there - that was the last one we found that did the trick for us! I hope this helps!!! 🤞
How do you find the heat absorption and how much traction there is when it's wet?
We have it mostly shaded but on hottest July day any sun spots were a little hot which we found to be true with carpet too. As far as traction it’s very good - gets wet a lot coming out of water and no issues - surface kinda grips feet a bit the way it’s woven it’s not entirely flat so never seems slick or anything. And cushy. We really do love it.
@@MyBoatLife we’re working with an insurance claim to replace the flooring and deciding between custom carpet & woven vinyl. Just gathering intel, so thanks for the input!
safer diesel over gas. cant blow up your boat with diesels no explosive fumes
exactly another big reason we like diesels better
Do you cruise through Oct and Nov.?
Usually done by last week of October
Typical gas engines use approximately 30 - 40% more fuel consumption at cruise than a comparable diesel. The fuel consumption isn't even close
Agree diesels way more efficient
Good demonstration. Love the new flooring and man that table in your cockpit is awesome!
Thank you! Yeah we’re really happy with flooring. Believe it or not the table was free given to us from a boater friend that upgraded to something else! 😊
