Regarding the reasons for wanting to leave the UK and Ireland, I wanted to mention the often forgotten or unknown fact that a supervolcano erupted in Indonesia in 1815, and caused “The year without a Summer” in 1816, in England, parts of Europe, even New England in the USA. Harvests failed and it was dismal. The effects lingered on beyond 1816. So soldiers returned after Waterloo, to esunemployment followed by ghastly weather and crop failures, and this all combined to cause people to consider ways to escape these circumstances.

I am a 'coloured' South African, i'd like to do my DNA ancestry in the near future...I know I have Dutch and German, maybe French in me but I hope I can trace my lineage back to the 1820 settlers, like Cecil John Rhodes said, "To be born English is to win first prize in the lottery of life"
