Breaking is a two party created element. The first bboys (Foundational Black Americans) were not doing the moves that are considered a phenomenon, which are windmills, continuous head spins, back spins, hand spins/1990s, shoulder spins, elbow spins and so on. These moves are considered iconic in the world of breaking. PRs created the foundation for the dance. The steps, the power moves and certain foundational freezes. That’s factual. Kids today learning learn from the PR style which is basically the main style of breaking. Puerto Ricans have the right to say that they helped create breaking, about 90% of it. Checkout the graffiti in The Westside Story movie that was filmed in 1960 and then debut in theaters in 1961. Cornbread would be 7 years old in 1961. The play was created in 1957, which would make cornbread 4 years old. It's actual graffiti and not prop graffiti. OG from the BX here, Early Hip Hop Djs learned about equipment from Disco King Mario, Grand Master Flowers. Pete DJ Jones etc.Pete DJ Jones was much older then Bam, Herc & Flash he is the one who showed Flash how to hook up equipment.Even today Flash is on instagram saying Jones mentored him. Everyone in NYC knew Disco King Mario & Pete DJ Jones had the best systems. And passed their knowledge. All the early Dj's before Flash, Herc and Bam played Clubs and Restaurants and brought Sound Systems from Sam ASH not from Jamaica. Kids where to young to go to clubs so we just took the speakers outside and used whatever we had. They would borrow the older Djs Equipment from time to time Bam and Flash always said this. It had nothing to do with Jamaican Sound Clash Systems. If you ever look at old Hip Hop systems the speakers are never stacked like mountains its just the normal Cerwin Vega or Bose etc. speaker from the 70's, the same in US clubs. Jamaican Systems focus on the Super heavy Bass while American Dj systems focused on Clarity. Just listen to the older music your ears won't lie to you.

It is my opinion that anyone who thinks that KRS actually knowingly slept with an underage girl, wrote a song about it, then released it to the entire world on a major label, is an idiot. Like you mentioned , no one paid any controversial attention to this song for decades! It is simply a song like thousands of others that have similar topics. That's excellent packaging design, and I wish I would have grabbed this for the book alone back in the day. These are priced about as high as the OG tapes now. I wish I would have held onto all my old tapes! I will say with Get On Down it's best to stick to their cassettes and CD's. Their vinyl isn't always the best sounding. I feel like they put way more into packaging than they do into making sure they are putting out quality pressings, and buying their LP's is always a gamble unless you're only in it for the packaging or extras. If they ever get their vinyl QC in order, they'll be one of the greatest.

@moussegarbonzo8352 I don't really have an issue with the sound of the vinly pressing. Nothing really stood out as a bad sounding record. I listen on Technique 1200 and studio monitors. I don't think they make the vinly. Those are either made in Canada or Czech Republic alot of times. I have an OG KRS-ONE album and the new one they recently re issued. I'm going to do a test and see.

@@KUTProductionz I don’t have this particular album on wax from Get On Down, but I do have other titles from them that vary wildly in quality. I’m certain they don’t actually press the records themselves, but the titles I have don’t all seem to be properly mastered for vinyl. I don’t know if this is an actual issue with the pressing plant as much as it is the sources they are using. I haven’t heard anything from them I find unacceptable necessarily I guess, but I think there are better pressings to be had from most of the titles they offer. Sidenote: I do own OB4CL on vinyl from MOV (Music On Vinyl), and it sounds incredible! I also own The Infamous from that label and man that record sounds massive! MOV isn’t as known I don’t think, but I have at least five records I can think of off the top of my head from them, and they all sound great. I’m pretty certain they come from digital sources (that’s a lot of newer releases and reissues), but they’re definitely doing it right, especially in the Hip Hop category.

All those artist who were ghosted all were multi platinum artist with massive, i mean massive publishing at stake ie: Prince, Micheal J, Jackson, Biggy, Pac etc. If it was worrh anything they would have asked KRS or Scott LaRock Junior to buy the publishing or sell it to them.

@@KUTProductionz nah, heads haven't really rocked or supported new nas like that. His newer fans held him down more. Pete was subbing hit boy and Nas the last 4 years along with other "heads". They see this pete and common album as the proper way to make an album and not the "mid" nas made with hit-boy. Common and Messy Pete Rock just dusted off their headphones. They’re no competition to Nas and Preemo who have consistently been working for years. Still not forgetting how Petty Pete tried to Sue Nas instead of approaching the record label for his royalties 🤔😐

@lyricistanonymous8126 Yeah I remember that. Pete said in an interview they resolved it. I just know the inner workings that well to speak in that in depth. Hopefully Nas and Premier does make a classic. Many people here seem to doubt it. I think they can but they gotta work. The last couple Nas and Premier tracks have been just ok honesty. Just calling as I see it.

I hope these cats don't fool themselves and think that they just "get together and ...bang bang bang.." What Common and Pete did is MORE than just an album...it had spiritual foundation...the tracks on the Auditorium Vol. 1 were DIVINELY INSPIRED. If they just doin it for the competition or for the $...I ain't supporting that Sh**... do it for the right reason and it will be just as tight as the Common and Pete Rock masterpiece.

@7deepbreaths.sounds Ok. No I seriously doubt it's for the competition or money. Both Nas and Premier got plenty of money. Nas has said he does it for the fans and supporters at this point. He's beyond rich. It's just the one album that hiphop needs to happen the one we always wanted. Also they do compete with each other on some level lyrics, production. It's what makes greatness. But yes Common and Pete made great a work work.

Prove me wrong but I'll take LL x Q-Tip over Nas x Preemo! I really can't see Nas & Preemo doing better than what they've done in the 90s. Feels like an unnecessary challenge to take on by now. You can't top "NY State of Mind" or "Nas is like". Their legacy has already been cemented with classics. Why spoil it now, if you know how picky hiphop fans have become nowadays? Common & Pete Rock album is on the way to become Album of the Year just because it really lived up to the expectations. PR' productions are so organic, and Common's flow is effortless. That album is a masterclass for today's generation.
