Documentary Launch| FREE TO LEARN: SOZE UNGAYIBAMBI!| 26 September 2024
The Centre for Multilingualism and Diversities Research, the Zenex Foundation and bua-lit language and literacy collective has launched a cutting-edge documentary about bilingual education in South Africa. Speaking directly to the challenges that children face in learning through English only, this short film, directed by Kate Ahrends, showcases the work of two projects housed in the CMDR in collaboration with colleagues from the School of Education, UCT. The film highlights innovative work by teenagers, teachers and researchers where language resources are employed in classrooms to get learning done bilingually.
