      Cedar Point is the best amusement park in the country! At least you're making more money working in DC. Hope you enjoy your career. Every roller coaster they have are special. Maverick is an absolute beast! You experience negative G forces on that ride! Maverick, Valraven, Millennium Force are my top 3. The Millennium Force you get ample airtime.

  • @russellrattys6581
    @russellrattys6581 Год назад

    I worked as a ride operator at a theme park in a holiday destination in the uk It wasnt hard work, but at the same time it was, its a big responsibility, having customers lives in your hands One of the gripes i had was, customers assumed, because you were at a holiday destination, that you were on holiday too, but i wasnt, that was my 9-5, it was work for me, and they couldnt understand that I loved rhe music and atmosphere I worked almost every ride in the park, as both an operator and an attendant, what you described as crowd I loved my job, but at the same time, i wouldnt go back

      This is more of a curisoity question but I wondered what you guys do if you need the toilet when not on a break. I assume you cant just leave the ride so I was wondering what you do

    • @russellrattys6581
      @russellrattys6581 Год назад

      @@gamesmaster1060 excellent question, the short answer is, i frequently held it until break, feeling like my kidneys were going to burst If your lucky enough to be on a ride where you have two members of staff, for example ride operator and attendant, and its a slow day, off season, then one of you can run to the toilet whilst the other is loading/unloading the ride, you have to plan it though, you have about 5 minutes to get to the toilet and back before your ready to set off with the next cycle, if your the operator in this instance, i recommend taking the key with you, so the attendant isnt tempted to start the ride On some occasions, mechanics may come to your ride to watch it going round on their beat, to listen for any strange sounds, check its systems etc, and in some cases, mechanics may want to operate the ride to make sure its all in check, thats a perfect moment to nip off to the toilet Otherwise like i mentioned, its a case of holding it

    • @russellrattys6581
      @russellrattys6581 Год назад

      @@gamesmaster1060 i forgot to mention, in summer you find you don't need the toilet as frequently if your ride is outside, as you sweat all your fluids out, and its a good idea to have a towel or rag in the paybox to wipe your hands and face with every now and then Being a ride operator is not as glamorous as it looks by a long shot in this respect Your also at a venue where people associate with fun, and they dont realise that's your 9-5, they sometimes think your there for the fun like they are, and dont appreciate the fact your actually working, and have 30+ lives in your hand, some people can give you a really bad day, and you can be upset for hours, but still have to put on a brave face

    • @gamesmaster1060
      @gamesmaster1060 Год назад

      @@russellrattys6581 ah ok thanks for the info. Kinda sucks that you have to hold it in, you'd think there'd be something in place for it on long shifts like mabye arranging a cover staff over the radio while you go or something. Mabye not a job for me cause my bladder sucks haha. Makes sense that you wouldnt need to go in the summer as much although it doesn't seem to be getting that warm in the UK so far

    • @russellrattys6581
      @russellrattys6581 Год назад

      @@gamesmaster1060 usually the breaks are every 4 hours, what changes that is when other operators take longer on their breaks, if you get the last break of the dinner staffs shift, and everyone takes an extra minute, across 60+ staff, you could be waiting over 5 hours for your break And your lucky to get a radio depending on what park you work at, which ride your allocated etc, sometimes you sacrifice a radio for a public address system, basically having to shout HELP down the mic if you need someone to come over to you, or something professional like "supervisor to the dodgems paybox" for example Its not a job for everyone, everyone thinks its simple, pressing buttons and watching a ride go round, its a lot more than that, you could have 30+ lives in your hand at any moment, that responsibility is huge, especially when that slips your memory, and you get complaisant Its long hours, awkward customers, stress, the sun in your eyes all day long, or water spray all day long, your either boiling hot or freezing cold all day long, ride breakdowns, where a safety system just has a bad day and trips, leaving customers stuck in your ride and all you can do is apologize, feel helpless until mechanics get there to release them, and thats all on a good day 😂 Listeming to the same, monotonous music all day long is like chinese water torture, saying the same thing every 3 minutes to customers drives you wild, especially when they dont listen, mind the gap, watch your heads, bars coming down, etc That feeling something of higher power is having a laugh with you, when a ride behaves on its own, then breaks down the instant you put customers on it, if a ride op ever tells you that hasnt happened, there lying lol Theres the customers that purposely seem like there going out there way to f**k you, blowing weed smoke in your face when your working outdoors, or purposely drinking alcohol and stuffing food in their guts, then going straight on your extreme ride and throwing the lot up, making you close the ride for half hour to clean it Theres the customers that are a complete shock, they seem perfectly fine and bubbly in yhe queue, they get on the ride and instantly pass out, and your like "uh? Wtf? 🤷‍♂️ There's the wristbands/tickets that dont scan, and most of all exhaustion, your on your feet 13+ hours a day, and it wrecks you I could list a million reasons why NOT to work on a theme park Im not working in that field anymore though
