    if you're working for a studio, they prefer you use the lasso tool. Yeah its slow but its precise, they don't want gaps on the flats they want the flats to touch each other. The problem with the Selection layers option is that the lineart should all be connected, which not all pencillers do some will leave gaps on clothing or some parts of the body due to line weight etc. But that's a perspective from someone who worked on a studio. Not saying your way is wrong since its really self preference. If you're doing everything on your own its fine, but if you're working with a painter you might have to talk to them. Anyway, amazing video! currently watching it since I'm transitioning from PS to Clip Studio

      I am pretty sure this is a difference between the Pro and EX versions since EX supports multiple pages but Pro doesn't. I didn't even think that it might not be a feature in Pro for a webtoon since I usually use the traditional page setting.

    your channel is great, I am so sorry to see you have so few subscribers-maybe this can help: sure discreet but dynamic music would be great, but what very nearly had me switch your video off (apologies, i say this to help not to hurt) is your animated character, I'm sure you spent lots of time creating her and she's great bbbbut: I'm used to seeing channels were artists show their faces which stupidly feels like they are taking responsibility for what they say, and i can recognize them at a convention and that sort of thing, it's really idiotic but when i saw your animated avatar I thought "oh yeah, it's all manga look it even is hosted by a manga animation - it's for amateurs, it's for manga only, cheap naaah - let's move on to shyfoxx's channel (also manga look but the packaging is different)" again it's idiotic but this played in my head, thank god i resisted and watched your excellent video (and others on your channel) we want to meet you, you are selling us the idea of becoming you, show yourself, be cool in a cool room (cool meaning: ok with your personality). Now if i did a youtube channel i'd hate showing my face and being all artificially enthusiastic about my today's video, i guess i'd show a nasty self caricature of me (to show I have a sense of humour and dont take myself seriously) then i would have a running joke about viewers being lucky not having to see my ugly mug or that sort of thing. it's all packaging sadly, when what should really matter is the product. You should have more subscribers, I hope this helps and please forgive me for all this but i think constructive criticism is the most usefull thing .... hey: I subscribed! and i mean to follow you! wishing you the best of luck!

      Ugh, same. It's all trial and error. I think you really gotta think about the audience you want to write for and what kinds of things really interest them and will hook them quickly into the story. Not something I did with my current comic but now I'm thinking what I can do for my future comics.

    Title is kinda misleading - (not clickbait, misleading) I dont see the point in having the other 3 methods if you just disreguard them immediately just to prove the point that the way you prefer is "better" (which yeah fair! I also select the outside and invert it for coloring so it is better for me too, but the other methods are useful as well. Just not for adding the block of color which is what you're trying to do the whole video - so in reality the video is just one way of making flat colors) You also dont really have to fix the lineart if you want the gaps as part of your artstyle! I use a variety of methods such as bordering that off right away with a line of selection (basically i fix the lineart gap with selection instead of actual black lineart) or in the color layer i just use the color itself to border it off - hide everything BUT the character's lineart and that little bit of colored layer and then make the same selection you did with "refer to all layers"

    • @designingcomics
      @designingcomics Год назад

      Thank you for the feedback! I will keep it in mind. I just wanted people to know the different options available so they can choose the best one for their style which I didn't explain well in the video. I am thinking of redoing this video sometime so that is something I will definitely work to improve!

    I love this and your videos are awesome but every time I reselect the selection layers and then go back to the “white” layer it leaves an outline around the selection. I’ve even overlapped the selection layers and it will still pop up. Plus the selection layers are really jagged edged too. Anyone help? Please.

    • @designingcomics
      @designingcomics Год назад

      Thank you for watching! For the issue that you're having, when you make the selection, make sure the anti-aliasing is set to "none". I have noticed there is sometimes an outline leftover if I made the selection with anti-aliasing turned on (weak, medium or strong setting). I have noticed the selection tool tends to be jagged if I'm zoomed out a lot so you may want to make sure you're zoomed in enough. Also if I'm using a mouse versus a tablet that tends to happen as well. With the anti-aliasing turned off, the edges will look a bit pixelated, but they shouldn't be really jagged. Let me know if that helps and if not, maybe we could find a way for you to send me your file or take a video of how it looks for further investigation.
