Fly Fishing in Arkansas - Spring River
In this video I catch 4 rainbow trout and 3 striped shiner. It was very cold and windy so the fishing was pretty good considering the conditions.

Not my best day of fishing. Caught 1 brown trout, 1 rainbow and had 2 come off. The river is very wide and is best fished by boat instead of wading.

I enjoyed fishing on Clear Creek. My only complaint is that it was difficult to find a decent place to park and fish.

This was one of my best fishing days. I caught probably 15 and all were decent size including 2 large rainbows. I was actually catching so many in the area I was in that I left and drove several miles down highway 40 towards Granby to try a different spot where I didn’t have as much luck but that’s ok.

I caught several good sized brown trout in the Gold Medal section of the Fryingpan river. Later in the day I drove above Reudi Reservoir to the upper section of the river which isn’t Gold Medal area but I wanted to see how the river was in that area and caught 2 small brown trout.

This was a beautiful river. The fishing wasn't as successful as I would have liked but it was my first time on the river and I didn't really know where to go. At 01:58 I slip and fall but still landed the fish.

I have to admit this wasn't one of my best fishing days - I only caught 3 all day. There just didn't appear to be many fish in the headwaters where I was at. Beautiful scenery though, enjoy.

At 01:20 is the footage where a huge trout attempts to eat the small brown trout on my line. This is the Dream Stream section of the South Platte river. I was surprised at how crowded it was for a Monday - there were almost always other fisherman in view. This was a good day of fishing. I caught 2 nice brown trout, 1 small brook, 1 decently sized rainbow and hooked a very large rainbow that broke my tippet. The river is beautiful but the rocky bottom was very slippery, I recommend wading boots with good traction.

In this video I land several fish on the grass because my net had a hole in it. This is generally not a good practice, although it did rain heavily throughout the day so the grass was wet and not likely to harm the slimy protective coating on trout skin.

I'm a big fan of fishing small creeks like Columbine creek. In this video I catch 3 trout on dry flies and then moved to Cabresto lake where I had several strikes on a streamer but couldn't land a fish.

I caught several small brown trout this day. Fun and beautiful river, it was quite crowded on the weekend and had just rained which muddied the waters.

4:05 I love fishing that little hole, lots of hungry trout. While clear creek does have some cutthroats, the fish here seem to be native rainbow trout. With them being native, the colors are much more vibrant than on stocked trout.

Hey! I'm a fellow Colorado resident fisherman. I thoroughly enjoyed the video! Btw I'm just getting into trout fishing and trying to get a fly setup. Would you recommend a rod and reel setup under 200$?
Thanks for watching. Check out the Echo Lift or Redington Path II fly rods and the Orvis Clearwater reels. That will put you pretty close to $200 before taxes.
could you do a review on your rob setup? the leader you use, tippet, lures, etc?
Sure, I am using a Sage Sonic 9ft 5wt rod with an old Cortland Rimfly reel my uncle gave me (made in England). On that day I was using an Orvis Superstrong leader with 4x tippet. I changed the flies up a bit over the course of the Colorado trip but usually had a size 14 or 16 nymph as an attractor and then a size 18 or 20 zebra midge or blue-winged olive about a foot below that which is what most of the trout were caught on.
That's a white fish :) typically a good indicator species for healthy river system

For the best fish handling practice, keep fish in the water when removing hooks. Wet hands before handling, and terra firma is not a friend to the protective slime layer of the fish. Thanks

Use to go there every year in mid August and camp a full week down at Diner Station Campground. Over the last few years, between the browns taking over and all the ATV riders, it has become not as great of a place. Looks like you had an enjoyable day however. Brookies use to be a dime a dozen all throughout that drainage.
Yes I was hoping to get a few brooks but unfortunately it didn't happen. I did see a few ATV riders going by.

Sure, on this river I was using 2 nymphs (I think size 16 for the top nymph as an attractor and size 18 or 20 for the bottom nymph). The orange ball you see floating is an Air Lock strike indicator - if you see it go under the water either a fish ate one of the nymphs or you got hung up on the bottom. The Valle Vidal section is open from July through November. Not sure about the regular section of the Costilla.
