I moved to Montreal in October 2022 from Toronto. You are right, rent was relatively cheaper but the prices have indeed gone up since. I ended up moving into Griffintown. I haven't been able to make friends or find a community just yet due to the language barrier and me having a work from home situation... How has it been for you guys?

Just a first hand input, and English speaking people, if honest will agree with this. I work for a Quebec based company that has expanded greatly by acquisitions in English Canada. The company was founded 50 years ago in Montreal and now all our meetings are in English even there is only a few unilingual persons in the meeting, most our French colleagues are bilingual so it’s not really a problem for them work wise, but it does feel a little weird. Even in big national meetings we hire translators that translate into French in headphones for those that require it because the meeting is in English. So yes you can live in English in Montreal and not be discriminated because you speak English, no matter what haters may say.
