    Yesss, much better now in terms of visibility. Thank you for the effort and time put into creating amazing tutorials, I really apreciate it. It is hard work and not so many people from industry are willing to do that. I followed whole audi logo course, and managed to recreate it on my own. Before that I was stuck with weird default hotkays in alias and could't move on. Now I feel much more confident. Also, your renders are amazing. Are you making these in Blender - Cycles ? They really look really really high end, would be nice to see one rendering tutorial, maybe some basic product design in alias + rendering part, of course if you have enough time for that. Many thanks! 🙏

      Hey! thank you and best of luck with application! As for suggestions, - I am not sure that can help you as I do not search for this content myself. The only advice I can give you is to search for captured academic lectures and content form the people within the industry (like me, learn surfacing, 3d design academy and other cad sculptors). Try Andreas Hopf's records from Lund university. And do not shy of reading official technical documentation, - unbiased and condensed library of terms and functions. It will help you a lot in your journey. Google for "Alias docs". And do not learn from wannabes, they taught you shit.

I'm grateful for your advice and Andrea's Hopfs videos seem really promising, however I'm a bit confused in that it seems like he uses some plug ins? For some reason this popped up in my feed, I was curious so I skimmed the video. Curvature deviation 1 is a pickle, a riddle. It’s like the sound of 1 hand clapping. You can’t align curvature into flat. It’s the same way that G3 is not technically “measurable” except with curve combs and the reading is subjective to the person. How long have you been doing Alias? Those blends in your Y video tutorial were tiny. A 2 chord is like 1mm rad on a good day. Have you pondered the mystery of the radius, the chordal, the blend, and the filet? These are the joys of class A production ped pro minimums.

    • @AGGraphics
      @AGGraphics Месяц назад

      Hi! I am glad you got curious! You can align curvature to flat. And you should. Remember: there is no such thing as no curvature for a vector (or its rational b-spline), it is a curvature of 0. And no, you can measure g3. you can measure g4, g5, g100 000, g infinity. It just makes no practical usage, thus there is no tool in alias to do that. More than 10 years, why? Y-fillet example is tiny indeed. But watches, for example, are tiny too. In consumer electronics .5 mm chordal length fillets is pretty common. Standard tolerance for cnc in industry is around .2mm. You are from California, right? so it will be .008 inches. Regardless, you can scale this example to automotive and beyond as a Brep or polysurface. You can use the same principal and scale it to Iowa class battleship. It is a CAD data afterall, NURBS surfaces. There is no mystery, just a basic trigonometry and arithmetic's you should learn in school. If you are from automotive, - it is your headache to meet the desired requirements for safety margins: smartphones and monitors are rarely smashing you with 100j of force ^)

    Hi Sir, I've just started to this tutorial. I created the arcs and square same as you did until the 18:00 minute. But after I did that I realised a visible deviation between my arc and square. After doing the same things as you, there should have be no deviation between the edge of the square and the arc, right? If you can illuminate me why this situation occured I'd appreciate it Sir. Thank's a lot for the tutorial as well.🙏

    • @AGGraphics
      @AGGraphics 2 месяца назад

      Hey! No, you did everything right. There will be a deviation between rational b-spline (your curve) and a squared or railed surface. That was an example why they will not fit and why you need to use profile tool instead. Just watch till the end) And as for visual deviation here and in general please keep in mind that tessellation quality is in effect, as well as your overall tolerance. If your inspect tools shows you no deviation, but you still see it visually, it is because 2 things: either your positional tolerance in construction options is not tight enough, or your tessellation quality is too low. I assume that you use the same tolerances as mine, so it must be your tessellation quality. You can change it in the properties of a default shader that called "mulCol" ("diagnostic shade" window, "global settings" tab)

But would love to learn it more seriously and really use it. Are you freelance or work inhouse for a product design agency ? • @AGGraphics
      @AGGraphics 2 месяца назад

      Indeed. A gatekeep is a good word for it. Good attitude though, keep on keeping on! I am both: Inhouse and a contractor. That is a nature of the projects: you go in for half a year, you did your job, you bail out. That is the only way if you are working for foreign companies (not in the domestic market). And as for Alias, it is widespread in consumer electronics. Xiaomi, Apple, Samsung, Cisco, JBL, Sony, Wacom and many others working with Alias or it rivals, - ICEM or NX. Sometimes even gun manufacturers, like Smith&Wesson or Ruger. And studios make their decision based on the budget: if you do not have enough income, - alias or NX will be too expensive + you need something for a B-side like CATIA, and you forced to switch for more generalized CAS modeling systems like Rhino or Solidworks. They are great tools too, but not designed to build a-class. Rhino has grasshopper built in though. We use it instead of Autodesk's Dynamo. So, you mix and match anyway.

There are very few people who know Alias in our country and students can't afford courses easily which are sold in foreign currency because of our currency worthless. I'm sure that everybody who come across your tutorials will be grateful for you.

      @@borazeytunlu963 hey! yes, it is 4 segments, 3 degrees and 1 span non-periodic RATIONAL circle. Please note that if your circle in not rational, 3 degrees for a segment will not be enough to make circle circular, you will have a pretty big deviation. To battle that open your construction options, scroll down and activate "rational flags" checkbox BEFORE making a circle. Alternatively, bring more degrees for each segment: sweet spot is 6 degrees per segment (4 segments, 1 span) for non-rational circles. • @AGGraphics
      @AGGraphics 5 месяцев назад

      Thank you! As for continuity, - do not stress to much about it. Try to make the rail surface smaller. If that does not work, - try to make rail only positional, and then edge align to g2 with vector constrain to Z axis or normal direction. Should do the trick. If you get dev.1 error after that, - check my correlated video about the topic: ruclips.net/video/jwdTtefeh4c/видео.html and check diagnostic shading. I believe you will not see any discrepancy in the connection.

      @Occultstudios Good idea, I will. As for your question, - you need to open your clutch menu editor (preferences> marking menus > marking menus editor). A window with default marking menu will open up. delete all the garbage, open the tool you want, for example the "mirror object tool" (edit > duplicate > mirror). set the proper parameters (axis) and then literally drag it title from the menu straight to the free space in the marking menu page. Do not forget to save a profile.

    why not just rotate a profile, with 4 segments, 6deg/7 cv to get the exact diameter fo rotation? and non rational flags?

    • @AGGraphics
      @AGGraphics 6 месяцев назад

      because not only the perfect diameter is out goal, but the perfect surfaces. by perfect I mean perfect, with perfect math description, without any possible deviations, even the smallest ones your tolerance settings can't catch. On top of that, we are talking a-class, and loops (revolves and profiles) under the rational flags are a must in that regard. But if you wander, can you get away with 6 deg segments in your model, - you can. it all comes to the final quality you, your engineers and client are looking for. If it will be a cheap pvc or lde molded case, or a wheel for Thomas the train toy or some shit - you rarely should bother. And as a final note, - rational flags in current lesson does not make things more complex, it is actually quite the opposite, you will save a lot of time later, on a filleting stages.

    • @akaAlias
      @akaAlias 6 месяцев назад

      @@AGGraphics you will get the perfect math description with single span nurbs /bezier curves and surfaces, no deviation in tolerance either. and rational flags usually cause KO surface importing into catia. non rational flag+ 4 segments with 6deg will always give perfect circle,radius, revolve, right? maybe i'm not getting it. i'll follow your series and check it out. keep up the good work.

    • @AGGraphics
      @AGGraphics 6 месяцев назад

      @@akaAlias sadly you can't get the perfect math description for conics (circles) without rational flags. As I said in the lesson, non-rational geometry is a sum of polynomials. And polynomials, if you remember from math classes, can be linear, quadratic or cubic, and can describe a conic shape, but not spot-on. Rational flags, on the other hand, and a geometry built from it, is a ratio of sums of polynomials, or rational function. That will be a perfect description. I also mentioned the reasons why it is not turned on by default, and one of them, - is a downstream cad software. Catia is considered as one and does not operate with a weighted cvs and rational geometry in general. when you use 6 deg non-periodic, non-rational circles, - you can get close. sometimes so close, that most of it will be spot-on, maybe deviates to .0001 or something on the end points. Sometimes alias can even confirm, at least for the curves, that it is spot on. or some of the surfaces will be spot-on, and some of them will have a .0001 dev. Even Alias manual suggest you do go this way. But, in reality, they are not spot-on. Sometimes it does not matter, sometimes it does matter. I prefer not to be surprised in the middle of the project that non-rational flag geometry gives me issues when engineers said it should be perfect. As for Catia, yes, it is a problem. we solve it by stitching the model to the slightly lower tolerance, breaking the rationality, and export the stitch as. step for creating a B-side. and then we bring it back to alias and clean the issues, if they occur, manually. should you use rational flags all the time? no. sometimes it will work against you, sometimes it is very beneficial, like in the current lesson. If you want to build this bolt cap without rational flags, - I encourage you to try and compare the results and the process. at the end of the day, this is a learning project, designed to show you the benefits of rational flags not a lot of newcomers knows yet. So, give it a try and then make a decision. new lessons are coming up next week. and thank you for the question, it a good one.

      @alexandergolubev6358 8 месяцев назад

      Thank you! Concept is really different in comparison to solid body modeling, but in practice fusion 360 is really handy for the B-side of the model. In practice this is how everything built: surfacing for A-side (consumer side), solid body for B-side (internal parts). So, keep your pencils sharp). And stay tuned, new lessons will be in a month or so.
