      Hi David, the GX160 comes with one black & one white oil cap. The white oil cap has the dipstick attached, the black oil cap has no dipstick & is just an oil cap. They can be swapped to suit access. Cheers - Dave

    Hi, I have a Honda gx690 engine running my power generator. The last time started, it ran for about 3 minutes, then stopped. Upon checking I realized that the carb as well as the exhaust muffler are all filled with fuel. I have tried this on three occasions and same scenario. Please what might be wrong? Thanks

    • @melbournepowerequipment3441
      @melbournepowerequipment3441 2 месяца назад

      Hi Abraham, It sounds like you Carby is flooding, most likely due to contaminants between the needle & seat inside the Carby not allowing the fuel flow to stop. The Carby will need to be removed & cleaned thoroughly, along with a new fuel filter and a good look in the fuel tank to make sure it's not full of bits of dirt/debris. I would also check the engine oil, when I see this issue in the workshop it normally fills the engine sump with fuel as well which dilutes the engine oil. If this is the case the engine oil will need to be removed & refilled, with a new oil filter. Thanks mate, I hope this helps! - David

    • @melbournepowerequipment3441
      @melbournepowerequipment3441 3 месяца назад

      Hi mate, the GX160 will usually last 2000 - 3000 hours. This all depends on servicing intervals, the conditions of where the engine is running, and quality of parts & oils (Genuine parts will get you the longest engine life!) I have had Honda GX series engines through our workshop with over 7000 hours on the clock! Thanks - Dave

    Is it possible to remove the bowl arms attached to the carb without breaking it?

    • @melbournepowerequipment3441
      @melbournepowerequipment3441 6 месяцев назад

      Hi mate, is it the arms holding the float in with the pin that you are referring to? If so these are next to impossible to remove without breaking (i have tried 😂), as they are a non-serviceable part of the carburettor and are press-fitted in with plastic locking tabs. Cheers - David

    • @alejandrocuellar15
      @alejandrocuellar15 6 месяцев назад

      @melbournepowerequipment3441 I thought it was pressed in. I thought maybe someone has been able to. But like you say you'd basically end up breaking it. You can't even buy a replacement seat. I was wondering since I was trying to remove all the plastic parts so I can soak my gx 390 carb in pinesol. I heard that the pinesol would eat away at any plastic pieces. It goes to a hot water pressure washer.

    • @melbournepowerequipment3441
      @melbournepowerequipment3441 6 месяцев назад

      You are spot on that part cannot be purchased. A good clean out with Brake Cleaner / Carby Cleaner should do the trick, it dilutes and removes bad fuel contaminants quite easily. If that doesn't work, we use an ultrasonic cleaner with a carburetor cleaner that's safe on plastics and aluminum, they are the best options I have found so far!

      I am just wondering no one ever replaces the needle seat in the carburetor. I have a GX140 on a tiller and the carb. is overflowing, when my nephew brought it to me you could smell gas in the crankcase oil, I cleaned the carb and put it back together and a little while later the carb is overflowing again. Will take it apart again today

    • @melbournepowerequipment3441
      @melbournepowerequipment3441 7 месяцев назад

      Hi John, The Needle seat is not replaceable on these types of Carburetors. You can however replace the needle itself. Check the tip of the needle, they are made of a soft material so if the tip of the needle has gone hard (as they do over time) you will need to replace it. If you are still having issues with the Carburetor after this, please send me an e-mail with your phone number to info@melbpower.com.au and i will give you a call. Cheers - David
