APPLICATION and REMOVAL on Buttendz Grips

Been getting a lot of questions on how I take on and off the Buttendz. I've been using the buttendz for many years now and with the amount of times I've changed or extended or cut down sticks, I've developed my own slightly different way of taking on and off the buttendz through trial and error. If you have any questions leave em down below!! Hope this helps! Music: Finally by Loxbeats
WORTH IT?? | Quick film on Bauer's Radar Gun

Bauer's Radar Gun. Very cool toy I'd say. Practical? Idk. Pricy? In my opinion, yes...It is radar gun after all so of course you have to pay up, but in a hockey context it's not worth it. It's more of a novelty. You'll like it for a few days then forget about it. I'm going to leave it with my hockey stuff though so I can always see it and play around with it.

PROTECT YOUR GOALIE STICK OUTSIDE

Here's how I protect my goalie stick when playing outside! I use blade armour on the bottom and I use 1 and a half of them. The smaller one goes on the heel cause that's the one you'll be replacing the most.

how much does a repair roughly cost?
Mine was $70, depending where and how bad the break was price may vary I think. You can send them pictures and ask for a quote from them
@@TonyHockey sounds like a good deal!
Try it on your E5 maybe?👀

Great video. This is a really underrated channel, hope it gets more traction.
Thanks man! I appreciate the support🤘
Торможение ребром сильно отличается от реального хоккея, поэтому в этой части ролики только вредят
менять крюк нужно после недели тренировок
This blade in particular actually is made to go on the outdoors, I made a video recently on it! Check out my video on Hoapa's ODR blade if you're interested🏒
looks great! can you put a kryptonium chassis on these boots?
Yep!

Welcome back!

Cool but if durability is till an issue I would just stick to getting regular sticks and putting blade protectors on them
Yea blade protectors are still the way to go. But I might say durability isn't an "issue" cause they were designed for smoother outdoor surfaces I believe. Nonetheless regular ABS blades and protectors are still going to last double or triple the life.
I caught that smirk at 4:35 😅😅 Informative video as always my friend! Hey what you think of the Panthers vs Oilers series!?
Hahaha ofc🙈🤷♂️, was trying to hold it in as long as I could. Thanks man! Appreciate you. Oh man it's a crazy finals, before the series I wanted Florida to win but now I'm just watching for the humiliation of whoever loses haha.
@@TonyHockey the Leafs are done so I might as well go for the other Canadian team! Hahahaha
Depends on the surface some surfaces you bite quicker and some you slide more. You have to adjust to the surface you are on. Of course wheels make a differance.
Definitely, with so many surfaces and so many wheels the actual slide/stop time varies a lot. In the video I had harder wheels do I slided longer
Thanks for the reviews… helped me make a decision!!
Hey Tony, much appreciated video! A few questions: Are the Hoapa blades standard or tapered? Do you know much about Hoapa's shafts? Is their Hydrogen shaft their top of the line lightest shaft option? Or are most of their shafts pretty much the same? Any thoughts on the Hydrogen shaft vs the Coast to Coast SC2 mid kick shaft? How's the power/kick on it? What's your flex and kick (mid/low)? Do you think you should you have gone stiffer or whippier?
Thank you David! Appreciate the support. The Hoapa Blades and shafts are all tapered. I don’t know as much on the HOAPAs compared to other retail sticks like Bauer and CCM, but I believe the Hydrogen is one of their higher end stick options. “Flagship option for 2023” as they said. With that being said, I feel like all shafts are almost the same. Hydrogen is the lightest, origin has the nice wood touch, and pretty much anything after that looks the same to me. They don’t make it clear or completely different stick options like the other companies (Bauer Vapor vs Bauer Nexus). For the hydrogen VS CTC Mid kick I still love both and use it for different purposes. I’m in quite a few different ball hockey groups so in the lower skilled groups I use CTC, and Hoapa for the higher skill (cause lighter and better shaft). Because 1, I don’t want to completely wear through my HOAPAs that fast (they don’t last long outside) and 2 the CTC 2 piece is still a great option and way cheaper, especially in the long run when having to replace the blades. CTC: Mid Kick 85 Flex Hoapa: Low Kick 90 Flex Hoapa definitely feels way nicer to shoot, you can actually feel the pop! The CTC is still good but it feels like a “bland” shaft without any “cool features”. But then again for ball hockey the ball is light enough already and most people can fire a ball pretty good no matter the stick. I love my specs on my Hoapa but definitely could have gone to a 75 flex on the CTC to feel more flex/pop on the shaft. Hope this helps! Let me know if you need anything else!
@@TonyHockey Thanks Tony. I actually love my C2C shaft and I find it has amazing pop on it with my 85 and 95 flexes. I just grabbed a Hydrogen in 105 flex and I'll see how it compares! I know their shaft is tapered, but I'm curious if a a c2c blade would fit if I grabbed the midkick hoapa shaft... also: Compared to the pro carbon blade from coast to coast, how do you think they stack up against each other in terms of performance and durability? Which blade do you think is stiffer? Thanks!
@@davidbui2255 awesome! Both mid and low kicks will be tapered tho, can't fit CTC blades in there. Between the PRO Carbon and the Hoapa ODR blades, CTC is wayy more durable, and the CTC will also remain stiff for its entire life where as the hoapas lose its stiffness after you reach the line. Both are equally stiff but yea, CTC will remain stiffer for way longer.
👍👍
Just getting into street hockey, how often do you retape your sticks? Everytime I play I feel the bottom of my blade is always gettin messed up which I know is probably normal so I retape everytime I play. I also am using an ice hockey stick though which probably isn’t meant for street hockey
Yeah Tape won't do much at all to help protect the stick, tape makes it feel grippy too on the concrete which makes it harder to stick handle. ABS blades or the wraparound is the way to go. If you're looking for a good outdoor option for ball hockey, Coast Hockey shop has great options with many different curves and shafts available. If you're just looking to train in the offseason outside then the wraparound is your go to. Lmk if you have any more questions!
good info!
❤❤❤ thank you for making this video. This helped out a lot for practicing hockey inline.
Awesome! Glad it helped!
nice vid, tempting to get one!
As the other comments on this video have said, this is NOT a Hockey Stop, this is a Power Slide. 2 foot stop aka Hockey Stop is a completely different ball game. This is good for beginners. But if you play both ice and roller, it is better to get used to a roller hockey stop so you get used to stopping the same way.
I just had a pair of R1’s put on an old ice hockey boot because the transition from ice to roller was killing me. I think the marsblade helps with the transition. A lot smoother if a skate and able to cut and crossover similar to ice.
Definitely, what inserts do you have that feel the similar to ice?
I’m using the inserts that were in the chassis out of the box. Off the top of my head I’m not sure which ones. I’m not at home at the moment.
Very nice! How do they compare to your mission? Also whats the weight approx.?
Way better than the missions… but that being said it’s a fully custom skate vs a mid range level skate. The weight I’m not sure but custom true skates feel very heavy on the hands, but light on feet. It’s cause there’s zero dead space when your foot is inside so it feels like just an extension of your foot
Hey Tony, i play rollerhockey as a player for about 3 months now (i was a goalie before). I saw your new skates and realised they don't have the marsblade kit on. I never used skates without the marsblade frame. What do you prefer? Greetings from germany, and thanks for your videos. Kepp it up!
Hey Simon! Thank you for your support! Yeah I've been going back n forth between the 2 skates for a while now and so far I honestly like both of them. If you were goalie, and if you weren't coming from ice as a player (used to the rocker) I'd say stick with standards to save money and the weight of the marsblades. I love the Marsblades but I can def live without them, I only will continue to use them cause of my skating style (I'm coming from ice). Hope this helps!
Thank you, this is very helpful indeed. Love the marsblades so far, i guess i have to also try the other ones. But thanks for your answer! Really appreciate it👍😁
Perfect tutorial.
Thanks man!
Great explanation man! 👍✨
I skate 14 miles with my o1. It’s exhausting .
Oh boy😂, I can only imagine
It's about time. I have the R1's and the H5-T8's which supposed to have the most rocker feel simply isn't good enough. I don't feel no rocker especially if you tighten the middle screw. You don't feel the rocker at all. This better help at least.
If you're comparing the rocker feel to the O1s, then the R1s will definitely feel more stiff. Instead of tightening the middle screw, try loosening a little bit, that could help add more rocker. As for the new inserts, they're going to feel stiffer than the H5-T8 rocker.
@TonyHockey oh really that sucks then. Forget it. I like my R1's but really don't feel any rocker at all unless you do loosen the screw a but honestly shouldn't have to loosen it up. But oh wells.
Looking good out there
Great looking skate! Nice job on the video edit
I'm confused when you say "stiff toe" toward the end of the video in your review. Do you mean H5T5?
The "stiff toe" are the new inserts: H5-TF and H10-TF. Those inserts have zero rocker at the toe, only at the heel.
@@TonyHockey👋 where I can buy those new ones? I have R1 on my true tf7 boots but at time when I bought them three were only 4 inserts
Yea they’re going to be brand new, and not sold in the R1 kits I believe. Completely separate. Coast to Coast hockey shop is selling them, you’ll see it under their marsblade section!
are these toe inserts made only for marsblades skates?
Yea, it's the same idea of how the R1s come with the 4 different inserts in the kit, this is just adding 2 more to the collection. Can only be used on marsblades R1 frames cause of the design.
Good stuff. I wanna try Marsblades someday 🛼
Thanks man. Yea definitely, will give you a whole new style on skating!
this is sick! thanks for having me out to try out the new inserts!
🙏💪 thanks for your take on em!
Soon they will be on the website, I promise 😅👍
About someone like myself who's 6'3 would the 84' be ok
It'll be alright, if you're an actual goalie who plays butterfly a lot and properly, your knee probably won't properly align with the knee cradle area. But with that being said, regardless it's still the best Street hockey pad there is if you want something to use outside with.
Semantical.... But this is what I've always known as a power slide. A hockey stop would be the two parallel edges you do at the end. Hockey stop looking easier but being much harder to do as your centre of gravity is much higher. Both are good to know and power side as shown above should be first.
Correct! This is indeed a power slide but besides the 2 foot stop it's the best option and easier to learn and have confidence with. Still trying to perfect the 2 foot stop myself.
Bro called me out, I’m a ice hockey player transitioning to roller hockey
Hahaha, hope the video was helpful! You’re gonna love roller!
Bogo remind me of matthews. Not play of course but the lookz

Damn yea had that problem with the recent Videos since I got the new mic, fixed it tho and it should be good moving forward with new Videos. Thank you for the heads up tho!
do you have the link for these wraps please, i want to buy
Coast to Coast Hockey Shop has all of them except blade armour, if you’re in Canada too Canadian Tire companies sell Sherwood wraps as well. Blade Armour can be found on their website bladearmor.ca
Thanks, super helpful!
i think my wheels are to soft, A76
Yea 76 is pretty soft, if you're about 160 pounds and under you can get away with using them outside if you really want to, it'll still feel pretty grippy tho.
@@TonyHockey ye im 170cm and 60kgs but i kinda like soft wheels just hard to stop on them exept for t stop tho, im actually an ice skater!
im going to buy 82A wheels when they are well used, i just spend 200$ for the skates and ment to be for the summer
@@xGentenaar awesome! Yeah I personally use softer wheels for my weight too, but it is going to be harder to learn the stop cause there's less give. 82A sounds perfect for you tho for learning the stop and just overall usage, and generally the harder the wheels are the more durable they are.
depends on the surface. the stuff hes on right now looks atrocious. im 190lbs and prefer 78a even outdoors. harder wheels have no grip, softer wheels break. but were playing on very smooth cement, not this asphalt stuff.
p29 is the same as the p92 just in case anyone was wondering....
Allllmost, between brands they are the closest thing to each other. But the 29 is slightly flatter and breaks more to the middle (less of a toe curve) Where as the 92 has slightly more rocker and slightly more toe.
@@TonyHockey yeah there is SLIGHT differences but when fitting the p92 Bauer blade protector it fits perfectly on the p29!
@@AllDayShorts247 ah yea in the context of the blade protector they fit the same!
He’s actually using a varient of a p90 curve
Oh yea, read that from PROS website, but I saw a pro stock stick in person and it looked really similar to P28, the P90 and P28 are already close anyways haha
just curious, why wouldn't you want to tape your stick for better grip of the puck though? can't you tape it without taping the bottom to avoid friction?
(I assume we're talking about the Sherwood and wraparound?) Because if we just tape the bottom by putting strips down the wraparound won't be secure enough. You need to have at least a couple weaves at the heel and toe to secure the wraparound.
Lmk if this doesn't answer the question!
It would like grip the ground when your roller skating0
won’t the tape ware out eventually on the bottom exposing the blade protector making it feel better while also having tape on your blade for better grip on the puck? I don’t know if that makes sense, you tape your stick on ice why wouldn’t you do the same outside?
@@CompletelyInadequate yes true, but there is a good 20 mins I’d say to wear down the tape if you tape the whole thing, plus it’ll still never feel the same cause there will always be some tape on the edge or bottom of the side, and you would feel a little bit of the tape while stick handling. The tape on concrete is not smooth at all. Tape on ice is fine cause the ice is slippery. Or using an ABS blade will feel more similar to ice and there will almost be no friction at all as if you were on ice.
Would you recommend them if I am only playing ball hockey in a gym with no slap shots allowed? I am also looking at the Winnwell GX7 pads, are you familiar with those ones? Thanks.
Yep! With ball hockey in a gym the pads shouldn’t really wear down at all and it’s lighter than ice hockey pads so perfect for gym ball hockey! I use these pads when I play in gyms myself. I haven’t used the GX7 pads, but I’m pretty sure they’re the same pad from the same factory, just different graphics.
@@TonyHockey Thanks Tony, that's what I thought. The Winnwell do look very similar. Purchased the 34" Vaughn at CT. Will try them out tomorrow. I started playing again after a few years hiatus and my Reebok SR 7K feel like bricks on my legs. Need something lighter.
I read the title “Breakdown on McDonalds curve.” I was like nooo way Micky D’s cane out with a stick! 🤦♂️ 😂😂
Hey I have these pads but I notice they spin out of position during a game, how do you keep it centered so that it’s facing forward the entire game rather shifting facing outwards (30-45ish degree angle).
Yea I get that too, I don’t think there’s a real solution to that, at least that I know of. Me and my friends too who use the pads go through the same thing. The more you use it tho the less you have to do it. And all my straps and velcros are pretty tight so I only adjust them maybe once a game.
Glad I'm not the only one lol, thanks for the reply. Do you have it pretty tight for the bottom 2 straps and loose for the top one?
@@JohnNguyen-ch4gf yea that's my set up. All straps and velcro is tight enough just before you cut off circulation, except the top buckle, I leave that a bit looser
looks like Victoria
Great video! One thing though is that the audio output of your mic is only on the left side and the music is a tad bit to loud. Other than that thanks for the info!
Yeah realized after I edited everything the audio was messed up🥲, thank you for all this feedback tho I appreciate it!
Sherwood has a really good deal at $9.99 for their blade wrap. I bet since it's a bigger company it can afford such a low price. Essentially it's just a molded piece of plastic anyway. I've been using Hockey Wraparound for about 3 years now and I have used 5 total since the time they used to be metal instead of plastic. I'm just starting to use the Sherwood one and I've got 4. Very similar product and for me the cost of the Sherwood just makes it a no brainer though I do appreciate Hockey Wraparound for making such a good product that others want to imitate, and with good reason.
Definitely! Canadian Tire actually owns Sherwood, which is why they can have it at such a low price cause there's no middle man.
Where can i buy the Sherwood?
@@anglinoutdoors1307 they got them at Canadian Tire and sports Chek!
Cool thanks man!
